With a lowered budget, I think the sasuke team should start taking donations, so the budget would become better.

They aren't as used as kickstarter et al are but they do exist. There are at least five different sites I've encountered over the years but no big two like kickstarter and indiegogo in the US. Venture capitalists are what is rare in Japan but when over 90 percent of new business ventures fail, you can't blame them for being risk averse (why the businesses fail is a whole other thing). However, this is an ongoing TV program. Even in the US, no one starts fundraisers for things like that.
If Folcom or Inui were to do it to fund something like a specific obstacle...maybe? But I doubt it because it would belong to TBS.

Would really love to know how arsenette can know the opinion of "Japan" as though its one homogeneous entity. "Japan" is mad that ANW was "shown too much?" How do you know that?

I think the point is the general consensus among people who have spoken out on 2ch. People talk about what the forum guys (I.E. SMF) think and we're not hive mind either

no because it would become a fictional show and the obstacles would never get past health and safety...but I'm sure the other show would hire you

Anyway getting back on topic, 33 has been somewhat confirmed if not simply because it will be the 20th anniversary. Lord knows Inui spent all of yesterday calming people down that demanded the show be taken off the air. I sincerely doubt he will change what the show looks like but the show will go on for at least 1 more season.

Considering the amount of flak they're taking + the fact they caved by releasing Nagano's uncut run, I'll say 33 will likely be an improvement.

Given they apologized for last year's editing and they did far worse this year? I doubt next year will be anything but a celeb extravaganza now that the All-stars are down to 1 (maybe 2) people and some most vets already gone or going. It will be new people chasing ANW's format. That is what they are aiming for..

Just wanted to give my 2 cents before retreating back into Lurkerville...
Keep in mind I am a diehard like most of us, but can we just be glad we have Sasuke? Sure, it's not perfect (for all the reasons mentioned). But it's still leaps and bounds better than ANW. Just imagine if Sasuke was 80% fluff, 1 run per commercial segment, editing/faking results, etc. It is sad that Nagano is gone (for that matter, I'm sad that the All Stars haven't performed well as a whole since... 23?), I'm bummed the New Stars didn't do well, etc. But that is Sasuke! I enjoyed the broadcast. I'm glad some new faces got to Stage 3. The new obstacles were cool. I liked the colors. The Music Box's (or whatever they call that thing) music is still hilarious. I got emotional at times. It was painfully heartbreaking for some competitors, yet gloriously triumphant for others. It was 3 and a half hours well spent. Loved every minute of it. Can't wait for 33.
So can we just take a step back and enjoy the show? It's still a TV show after all. It's Ok to offer constructive criticism and all, but like, Sasuke is still awesome, right!?

You can understand the argument without being ruthlessly pessimistic... People calling to fire Inui and cancel the show is.. optimistic? Sasuke is a robust show. It survived the post Banzuke fallout after 8. It survived the death of M9 and the very badly recieved tournament: 26. It survived the All Star retirement of 28. It survived the knife edge of the entire rising era. 4, 8, 17, 18, 24, 27, 31... Every era has good tournaments. Right now, it may look bleak, but looking at the bigger picture... Just no.
