With the early application opening for ANW 7 I am starting to see some submission videos pop up. I want to try and keep a running count of names submitting and see if the count ends up being more then last year.
Add my name to the list:
Karson Voiles
I'm sure several others from this forum are submitting as well.

I'd err on the side of caution here

I submitted in the first few hours applications were open.
Wonder if I was legit the first person to submit.

Is there a list of all the SMF forum members applying this year? (Including part time lurkers like Drew and James Mcgrath)

When do applications end? I'm kind of on the fence about submitting a video, if its worth the effort this year or not or if I want to wait until I'm out of school.

I think you should apply, if nothing else just to familiarize yourself with the casting process. There's no reason to wait until you're done with school.

The planets finally aligned and I finished my video. Joyest of joys.

Oti, why is it only a minute long?

This is only the action part of my video. I never upload the talking-to-the-camera part because I hate it.

Oti no obstacles in that video, why?

1 - They are not very important. 2 - I don't train on them anymore. 3 - I included old obstacle clips earlier in the video, during the talky segment.

yea I hate watching myself talk too! haha. But I think you should had atleast a couple of obstacles. Just to give them something that they recognize and show that you are dedicated to the show. Overall it was good though Oti. Wish I had big strength likes yours.

There's a number of problems with that. I had obstacle clips, including one of the entire course I used to have in my yard. I put those in the talking segment because that falls into the "about me" category. That's my history and proof of how much I have done to prepare for Sasuke (and then ANW). It's not included in the action part because that's not how I train. In fact, I don't think it's training at all. I would be lying to the casting crew and - more importantly - myself if I talked up my replica game. I don't think they're important. I acknowledge them, I just leave them in their place, which is the past. You also have to consider the fact that having some obstacles doesn't mean s*** anymore. Thousands of applicants will have replica footage in their submission videos, whether from replicas they built or from a gym/gathering they went to. The market is saturated with replicas and people who think replicas will help them beat the course. Including replica footage in your submission now is like including parkour or free running footage in your submission a few years ago. It doesn't set you apart. It makes you look more generic than anything else you can possibly do.
If you want to be strong, train to get strong. PM me if you need help.
I wish I could have gotten my best squat on video, but what can you do?

Haha what can I do? I'm just more of an obastacle guy. But for practice rather than getting me stronger. As you would agree, getting stronger mainly comes from weights or certain workouts pertaining to what muscle groups your using. So I feel as if anyone that wants to do good at ANW/Sasuke needs a little of both. And I don't think you would be lying when you include obstacle training in your video. It shows your versitile in your training.
