Love their root beer. If Sasuke really is going to be aired in September, I'd expect things in the Brandon Tartikoff Memorial Challenge to ramp up throughout August and probably ending at or before Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 4-7). Since there are specials going into well into July (TV Asahi is having Audrey on one of theirs, apparently), I wouldn't rule out early October for Sasuke airdates, either.

News about Sasuke 23 has been posted on the Sasuke All-Star Fan site. This information comes from bserendipitous who was lucky enough to have spent some time with Nagano-san on her recent trip to Japan. "Btw...Nagano-san indicated that Sasuke 23 was tentatively scheduled for either Sept. 12th or the following weekend (of course I assume that could be changed as well depending on what they do) and that he and Takeda-san would be at the Miyazaki Beach Sports event, but Akiyama-san would not be. Could be because all of the All-Stars (except Shiritori-san) were at the grand opening of Takasui's new Hotel in Kagoshima on July 5th, Hotel Zero City" www.webjam.com/sasukefans

Thanks Pam. Hmm.. Mid September is not God-awful hot like they had and definitely proves the date is still floating. Explains a lot of the communication from M9 lately. That also means Japanese Trials are floating too. As for the Beach competition that Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks Akiyama won't be there I was looking forward to him going. Though happy he was there for the grand opening of the new hotel. Bunpei missing to both events is troublesome though.

Man, Shiratori's knee problems were more serious than I thought.

. . . comes from bserendipitous who was lucky enough to. . . I am amused.Perhaps the 9/19 weekend is just there as a rain date. It's apparently typhoon season in September, and while Sasuke doesn't always submit to the elements, I think they'll make an exception for a major storm. Either Shiratori is really hurt (or just hurt and really old) or the life of a civil servant isn't as flexible as everyone else's. I can't imagine getting a knee scoped would be very cheap.

Could be also because they try to arrange it to get the most participants at once. They seem to do that around times where it's heavy with different sports. Though I haven't seen them reschedule Sasuke due to weather (having flashbacks of Sasuke 8...).. The only time they had to reschedule was Sasuke 20 because Nagano was in the hospital for a month.
Hope Shiratori is just being careful and not overdoing it until he's healed. Though the past couple times he's only done Sasuke in the fall. Sasuke 19 he was there (Fall), 20 (not - too cold), 21 (fall again) and 22 (too cold and knee problem to boot). I hope he's back. I know his back has been ailing him for a couple years now and seems as if they can't find a solution for it from what I was hearing. As for getting out of work for Sasuke.. he actually takes residents of his town in a bus to go see Sasuke. It's like a big outing and brings publicity for the town.

Like I mentioned earlier, the 19th is part of "Silver Week", running from the 19th to the 23rd. While this might sound like an ideal time to grab the most number of people it depends on how many people have already made travel plans and whatnot, including the staff of TBS and M9. I thought for sure that they were going to aim for the same Monday holiday (which falls on the 21st this year) last time (SASUKE 21) but they didn't. They may try to avoid the holiday week if at all possible.

I can't tell what that is (as I don't understand a word of course ) but is this some sort of SASUKE-related festival, or is it just something different that four of the All-Stars happened to attend?

Sasuke 19 he was there (Fall), 20 (not - too cold), 21 (fall again) and 22 (too cold and knee problem to boot). I dont think he was their cuz of weather, he had a back injury for 20. Also i remember David saying it was quite hot on the day of Sasuke 22.

We did not have a translator but I believe he meant the filming of Sasuke. He said the Miyazaki Beach event was the first trial for Sasuke as well.

They are still trying to iron out a filming date. Interesting as well that they are going back to a Saturday filming instead of the Monday that they have been doing for a few tournaments now.

Also i remember David saying it was quite hot on the day of Sasuke 22. Cold weather aggravates his back condition from what I found out. So that made sense why he was out in Sasuke 20.

Well, hot weather ain't good for him either. Proof? Sasuke 15. Need I say more?
So they'd need the perfect - emphasis on perfect - kind of weather for Shiratori to compete, if he is healthy again.
