Nice trampolining Wish I'd got into it a young age (my sister did gymnastics for years so not sure why I never got involved as I would have enjoyed it..). Bought a 'home' 12ft trampoline a few years back for £25 off ebay which is great for the back garden in the summer, but rubbish this time of year. Can't manage to flip and land on my feet yet, just confidence I think getting enough height with the obvious "fall off the side" threat, LOL. I probably briefly said "Hi" to you as a part of the group for 5 seconds before things got underway at Urban Attack, in the orange hi-vis trousers (Takeda inspired of course..), easily spotted by being last in my sprint and main races, but enjoyed it(once I'd got my breath back..) Have any of the rest of NWUK team registered for Warrior UK yet?

A lot of them have registered as far as I know. The news was the best thing I heard all year!

It'd be nice if they had qualifiers like ANW. They should have qualifiers in Glasgow (Scotland), Cardiff (Wales), Belfast (Northern Ireland), and Manchester (England)

I went for a walk this afternoon along the local 'nature trail' type affair, where they have some pull-up/chin-up bars of 3 different heights. Someone in the know explain why I can do 5-10 pullups at home with only fingertips for grip (it's on an overhang above a staircase..), but when I tried on proper bars with full grip, I struggled to do 5, and progressive attemps got less and less (obviously getting tired..) Oti can probably explain this. I'd say it has something to do with technique -- on the staircase you are probably using your full body (bringing the back muscles into play), but on the bars you might be relying more on your arms and shoulders.

Too many variables to say for sure with that information. Pull-ups are also very much a groove thing. Sometimes they're just not there.

Maybe I'm just hopeless, Lol! Interesting tho, I try and make a point of at least doing a couple each time I go down the stairs (yes, I know 5-10 isn't a vast number, but it's a start..).

Don't worry about it. Technically if you're trying to grease the groove for pull-ups (which is the name for the method you're using), you don't want to do a lot of them in one shot anyway. The point of greasing the groove is to improve neuromuscular efficiency through high reps/low fatigue. You're literally trying to just get better at doing them. So if you can do, say, 10 for an all-out effort, 4-6 every time you go down the stairs is right on the money. Then you just kind of slowly bump this number up over time, and BAM, that's the secret to pretty much every DO ___ PULL-UPS IN ___ WEEKS!! routine.

Heh, great. Not that I could do many more if I tried at moment anyway, but nice to know I'm doing something 'right', even if it is by almost complete fluke! It wasn't that long ago that 1 was a chore so it must work even at my basic level, hehe.

think i did mention somewhere i had registered as am well within the age requirements. hard work starts now I had to go and check if there was an *upper* age limit after a few people have mentioned it. :-) Haven't registered yet, will do, and starting to 'train' again anyway for Novembers Urban Attack, so double the incentive now Warrior UK is a go.(I was using the mental image of Sasuke as a spur last year anyway)

I emailed to see if they'd allow an Aussie to apply, but haven't heard back. I'm guessing the answer will be no if they bother responding.

I had emailed them for more information back in December and I just got an email (with a flyer) yesterday. So maybe they are backlogged. Judging by their email they are so happy people are asking questions and are excited for the show!

Couple things I just realised; on the register page: itv.etribez.com/a/itvwarrioruk/warrioruk/welcomethere's 2 sections, one for registering and one to sign in, but everytime i go to sign in I type in my Email Address and Password correctly and all i get is "You have already finished your registration". Is the sign in page simply meant to be for people who didn't complete the initial registering or is there something wrong?? If it not an issue i'm assuming they'll just email me at some point hopefully for more details on my application. Also I actually did my registration before the 1st January, so therefore before the casting period, but i'm assuming this isn't a problem and my registration should be all good

I don't know for sure in your case, but ANW is the same way. You can save your application and come back to it later, but once you finish and click submit, that's it.

Given that i) it's likely to be a similar format to ANW/ Ninja Warrior Sweden/Turkey , ii) I've barely watched or kept up on any ANW (just never got into it as much as Sasuke),
What has the selection process been for those previous events? (possibly Turkey and Sweden even more relevant with being the 1st of the European events)

Well for ANW, there's a website. The website includes an excessively long written application (often asking the same question multiple times, just with different wording), an upload button for your submission video and a few more upload buttons for photos of yourself (head shots, action shots, money shots, etc). After the submission period is over, a few weeks go by and then casting calls start getting made. Calls usually go out in the same order the regions will compete in (Venice gets their calls first, for example). It's also worth noting that in the past, calls have typically been made absurdly close to the competition date. I was accepted for ANW4 roughly 10 days out from the date of the competition. Some casting favorites may get a little more of a heads-up, and some people have definitely gotten less.
Once you actually get the call, you then go back to waiting until you receive an email from casting. This typically contains more information about location and time, as well as an NDA and waivers for injury, death, etc. You sign that stuff, send it back to them via fax or email and then brag on Facebook that you're going to ANW.
