Yes, it appears that 12 and 18 inches is very close, however i'd still do my measurements in centimeters since they use metric over there. However for your purposes that should be definately close enough. Also notice the difference between the original and the redone Nagano 21 calculation? That will give us the size of the rungs, which averaged to 2.45 in or 6.22cm. This is only 1 sample so its not as reliable as the other data which had numerous ones, but it is only 9% off what was reported as 2 inches, so you can be resonably sure that the measurements are within 9%, and all the samples thus far have been within 9% of the average making me feel very strongly that this is extremely close.

Yeah... not a good day.
I can't believe how difficult it is for me to even move up one rung... I expected to move up at least a few, but not the whole way.
It's really demoralizing... I wish I knew a way to better train for it specifically.

Wow, awesome calculations.
So about 1 foot gaps eh? I expected as much.

You were supposed to build a Salmon Ladder, not a Salmon Death-Trap! But in all seriousness that sucks. Maybe you should try to build a new one, I mean even on the show the notches aren't that far out. They go all the way back and they got a rig thicker than yours Although not to be mean, but I think you won't be needing that Pipe/Stick Slider any time soon.

Well... I've spent way too much money to just drop it and built another now.
I'm running at about $1000. Not gonna happen.

Actually, I think building it more difficult might actually help. Being able to beat something more difficult than the real thing will make it easier to do on the show. Might have the extra benefit of much bigger strength increase, too.

TBH: That was my original intent when we started debating if 12" and 18" were the right distance between rungs. I was actually thinking of going 15" and 20"! But now I'm glad I made them where they are, because I can't even do them like this...

Update: Sorry, no new pictures to show, but because of the wood splintering, we've decided to try to find some metal planks instead. We really feel this will help >180 lbs dropping full force onto the rungs when I can't make it up. However, they are going to cost more, so... yeah. This project is a frickin money pit.
I signed back up again at the local gym, a 24 hour fitness. I signed up there last year December 29, 2007 (It was my '08 resolution to get onto Sasuke, regardless of what it takes, and I'm still working on it obviously). Got a better deal this time around, and I really hope I can get into the gym often so I can really put it to good use. I used to go every single day to the gym, but that only lasted about 4 months, once I began to learn how to properly train. Nonetheless, me borrowing my parents car for the last month (to drive back and forth to the salmon ladder), and eating those cheeseburgers and pizza are catching up with me. I used to be fine before when I rode my bike everywhere, but I gotta fix something. However, it's been since the 17th when I signed up, but I caught a cold on the 18th and haven't gone once. Still sick. It's so frustrating...
However! Soon after my second video went up, someone subscribed to my videos! This got me very excited to go out and make more, but once again... the cold. I just hope he stays subscribed, as I haven't gotten a single comment on the videos... period... and it's disappointing. Oh well, I know that once I start progressing and actually begin moving up the rungs, that I'll finally have some good footage to show off.

Nagano's advice has always been a &^$&load of pull ups. Find a bar or hanging something and just keep pulling your weight up and down just by your arms. That should help build your biceps.

Right before winter '08, I was truly starting to progress with my bicep strength and such. I mean, I was able to do 2-3 reps of 10-15 pull ups wearing an extra 20 lbs. But winter hit, and I got lazy... and now I'm starting all over again. But, I still have some of my strength, and should be back to that point by the end of spring, I hope. Then, I'll have summer to continue improving, and with my gym membership, I hope to be in some decent shape soon!

I dont use a bar, i just hang by my fingertips and do cliffhanger style pullups. They are much harder but I think they work a lot better. I could do 10+ reps a few times until i hurt my left arm doing a cliffhanger jump. On days where it feels good i can still do a lot, but I need to build back up as well.

If you don't mind that I make a suggestion, I'd suggest to make sure to train your body in many different areas. For instance, you may be able to do the Salmon Ladder due to your intense pullup training, but there's not a point to train for that if you don't have the leg strength to clear the Jumping Spider. While Nagano does many pullups, I believe that I heard him mention that he runs whenever he gets the chance, increasing his leg strength and endurance as well. Anyway, it's just a suggestion. Hopefully, you are already practicing like that now and will be able to do well on Sasuke if you got the opportunity ;D.

Yep he runs .. a lot when he has a chance. Full body workout to keep fit as opposed to just doing one thing. He's said it a few times actually but most notably in Sasuke Navi and in the Florida conference.

Yeah, that's something I plan on doing at the Gym. Before each workout, I plan to get to the point where I run for either an 8 minute mile (Which I used to be able to do), or burn 500 calories before the workout, and another 500 at the end.
I also love using the stair-stepper workout machines, as well as treadmills at their highest angles. I dunno, I just always found it more fun than running straight... gah.
However, I *may* have a personal trainer (Depending on how much more money I can spend...), who now knows about the Salmon Ladder, and is helping me train to beat it.
But you're completely correct. I can't get to stage 2 if I don't get through stage 1! And I can't get to stage 1 without some major working out in general! I need to practice for all the difficult obstacles... Jumping Spider, Warped Wall, Salmon Ladder, Chain Spin, and well... heh.

If you want any other dimentions or measurements for obsticles let me know and i'll use PRO (Pixel Relativity Operations), as I call it, to get them.

I know you were talking to UncleSam, but would you mind using PRO to determine how far away and how high the beginning of the wall of the Jumping Spider in 21 is from the trampoline? I would greatly appreciate it, but if you don't have the time, I completely understand.
