How would that help Japanese audiences? That's what TBS is in business for.. it's called Tokyo Broadcast System.. not American Broadcasting. Japan doesn't want to see an American show.. they threw fits when 10 were admitted into 23.. you honestly think people would want to watch a show of Americans in PLACE of Japanese in Japan? I think people are blurring the lines between G4 and TBS and more importantly wishful thinking rather than business sense. TBS does not need G4 to get ratings in Japan. Wanting to save the show does not include forcing more G4 content into their broadcast... The only way G4 could help TBS would be to sell off ANW as a spin off and get money from syndication. That's about it because anything else doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I don't live in Japan, so it's pretty far fetched of me to know what it is they like and dislike. My thought behind bringing Sasuke to the US was not under the impression of "G4 Saves!". My line of thought was that of national pride. Sure, we send these guys over, but it doesn't really prove much. Why not send 10 of their guys over to the US just to show those lazy Americans how it's done? Once again, I don't know what is popular thought on America is in general. I was just trying to see it from a different angle. And if Monster 9 and TBS can sucker G4 into fitting the bill, I don't see how it hurts them in the least, other than maybe pissing off the hardcore audience. But I would think they'd get a kick out of watching a bunch of "gaijin" crashing and burning.

I think everyone needs to calm down and put their heads back on their shoulders. SECONDED. GUYS CALM DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its not like panicking about it is gonna make it better....... Just give them time!! There were already 2 tournaments this year! Everyone is just panicking because they got used to 6 month and 3 month breaks. Well, now it will be longer because the last 3 tournaments were close together and they have to get back on track!

Holy crap. No one is freaking out, it's not like we all assume Sasuke 26 isn't happening, just that these huge blows to Sasuke's franchise is disheartening. No one is freaking out. If anyone is over reacting, it's you Yoda and Bada for thinking were thinking it's the end of the world.
No one in this thread is freaking out. Freaking out would be "Well this is it guys, Sasuke 26 isn't happening" and making ridiculous claims like that.

How are we freaking out if we are completely calm about this?

How are we freaking out if we are completely calm about this? Everyone in this thread is quite calm, a little paranoid, but calm. You are the one freaking out here >_> I'm done talking about who's freaking out and who's not, but we all know Sasuke isn't totally dead, I'm just annoyed that we can't express our paranoia without one person going "NO GUYZ U TRIPPEN SASUKE IZ NOT DED" When no one is tripping, we are just concerned.

I have one thing to say about this argument.. Now can we get this back on topic in a civilized manner? I mean it's one thing to be concerned but all this argument is causing is people who don't fully know what's going on to be paranoid and thinking that it is over. And ignorance about what's going on isn't going to help.. The Sasuke stars who went to the Apple Store event said that in October TBS will decide the future of Sasuke.. It's only September (Late September but still..). Could we stop being seriously concerned for a few more weeks.. If we don't hear anything by Halloween THEN we have the right to be concerned...

But I would think they'd get a kick out of watching a bunch of "gaijin" crashing and burning. I understand but I think the basis of the saving is a little off. What's a problem in Japan right now is Japanese viewership.. and while "money" is now entering into the equation.. unless you are planning to pay Japanese to watch this show.. it's not going to solve the problem See what I mean? As for the problem in Taiwan.. the argument is over. It's dead. That's the whole topic of this thread. So when I hear "eh don't worry about it".. I do.. it's gone. That is a significant problem. Obviously ya'll don't care because you think it doesn't affect you. I just think that's a callous attitude when their favorite show just vanished out of thin air from their own TV screens. Don't even start the stupid argument of "you can always torrent it".. we are talking about legal means to watch the show. And it's gone. THAT is something to worry about.

As for the problem in Taiwan.. the argument is over. It's dead. That's the whole topic of this thread. Personally, that sentence makes me sad. I am biased towards the JET version. i am pissed that JET dropped it. Sasuke was a winner for JET but they decided to dump ALL Japanese shows, disregarding individual merit. it is like retrenching ALL employees & selling the business off even when certain departments or products are making money. it sounds like "TOO BAD, HARD LUCK." If Golden Sun paid soo much money for 24, it could mean 2 things. #1 = Sasuke must be that popular in Taiwan for them to get so irrational. #2 = Their irrational decision to pay too much for it lead to the big losses. ( ie. they got their fingers 'burnt' = i believed Taiwanese viewership for 24 was high but NOT that INSANELY high. Golden Sun's gamble was doomed from the start ) For Taiwanese fans, it had became a classic case of "if only this did not happen, if only that happened, blah, blah, blah..."

Very much agreed Awee. I'm trying to analyze where it went wrong exactly. Right now we don't know the price for the post 20 Sasuke's. Taiwan and the USA were the only two countries who could have afforded them to begin with. I think when JET dropped their lineup TBS thought "yay.. Golden Sun can pay for it". It's now very telling as to WHY no other country would show the newer Sasuke's.. now we know it's all about money. It's sad but you are correct Golden Sun's gamble was doomed from the start. I feel bad for them because they wanted to capitalize on Sasuke's fanbase already set in Taiwan to help raise the profile of their new station.. but the price was too high and I think they underestimated how little of a return they would get initially. Now I'm even more pissed at TBS/M9 for coming up with the pricing structure since it's now clear that the post Sasuke 20's are a lot more expensive than their predecessors. They might have thought since they are longer in airtime (Sasuke 20 marked the start of the 4 hour broadcasts...) they could charge more for them.

my humble 2 cents, everyone please forgive me if you think i am stating the obvious:_ #1- from TBS/M9 "financial" point of view, they basically had 3 big "customers / markets" ie. Japan, G4, Taiwan. Correct me if i am wrong but i assumed most other places outside Japan are showing the G4 version & bought the rights from G4 & not TBS? #2- "market No.1 ( Japan )" did badly ( if this is an exaggeration, that is good news ironically ) #3- Just lost "Major customer No.3 ( Taiwan )"...which will probably leads to... #3- "Major Customer No.2 ( G4 )...having more "power" ( i dunno how to elaborate but i think you guys get my point ) Edit: #4- for those fans who think that there is nothing to it ( loss of the Taiwanese market ), imagine if your business lost your "3rd Biggest Customer"...what does that mean "financially" ? Obviously it means even LESS money for TBS / M9 to produce Sasuke.

#1 TBS owns all video of Sasuke.. including G4's version. TBS has 2 versions they sell.. the episodic version (that G4 edits - www.tbs.co.jp/eng/programsales/variety/ninjawarrior.html ) that they resell to other countries and the original uncut version that's one giant episode (that only Taiwan has ever bought www.tbs.co.jp/eng/programsales/variety/sasukekunoichi.html ). Both are controlled by TBS and not G4. #2 Yes that is correct. Sasuke 25 had the lowest ranking of all time for every Sasuke and Kunoichi ever aired in Japan. #3 yes that's true #4 That's obvious though one could contest that #2 has had it as far back as 2008 when G4 started to get more competitors and were allowed to reedit Sasuke to their choosing deleting footage from the original TBS broadcast to include deleted footage of American competitors to be sold worldwide. That power solidified in 2009 when ANW/10 contestants were introduced and JET dropped their lineup that had Sasuke in it.

This thread is about the situation in Taiwan, not in the US. IF you don't think that this is a big deal, then you are entitled to your opinion...in another thead. I don't know what G4 is or isn't doing in the US so I'm not going to post about it. I can only tell you what I know about the situation here.

I'm sure that I am just as clueless to what M9 and TBS are dong as the next person though.
