I intentionally did not look at the time when Tada was running so I wouldn't have to know if he was gonna clear or not.
I think Yuuji has a good shot at clearing Stage 3 actually. Actually I think if the whole course is the same for 40 he has a very decent chance of making it to Stage 4 imo. He'll be 44 but still, he knows how to practice obstacles now, and his upper body hasn't seemingly reduced at all.

Combination of what I'd expect/want. I consider Inui's editing techniques largely in these with how he tends to group those he's alright with fastforwarding:
4000 Yusuke Morimoto 3999 Yuuji Urushihara 3998 Nagano Makoto 3997 Katsumi Yamada 3996 Tomohiro Kawaguchi 3995 Jessie Graff 3994 Tada Tatsuya 3993 Sato Jun 3992 Rene Casselly* 3991 Darvish Kenji 3990 Takeru 3989 Some high class athlete 3988 Snow Man 3987 ABC-Z 3986 Morimoto Keitaro 3985 Ryo Matachi 3984 Shingo Yamamoto 3983-3980 3 Foreigners 1 Athlete 3979 Suzuki Yusuke 3978 Kan Yutaka 3977 Araki Naoyuki 3976 Kanno Hitoshi 3975 Shunsuke Nagasaki 3970 Ayano 3960 Hioki Masashi 3955 Isa Yoshinori 3950 Yoshiyuki Yamamoto Rinne + Other Johnny's Junior 2 Shirtless dudes 3 Rampage
*As tns mentioned I would consider moving Rene up as I forgot he won Ninja Warrior Germany, but I wrote this list before reading that and am too lazy to change it now. I would prefer he still be under Tada in Japan and I would not expect him to go above Jessie under Inui anyway.
Only reason I put Ryo and Keitaro in the 80s was because I can't imagine them placing any higher than all the people listed.

Good point. It's a shame because injuries aside I think he'd regularly match if not outperform guys like Hioki and Sato on Stage 3. He has phenomenal grip strength and he's probably gotten one of the best strength to weight ratios for his weight class.
As for Shunsuke I don't know what's up with him... he purposefully avoids practicing the Dragon Glider so I suspect injury as well. He just skips it at Matsuda's

At least it made the 3rd Stage results less predictable.

Kanno got injured in 38? He physically looked the best he has in years this tournament. I don't think he should retire. He's only 36 too, and he does train a lot.

It was an embarrassment. Obviously a fluke when that stuff happens (like Akiyama back in the day). But you hate to see it. What really made it an embarrassment was how Yamada kept going then failed the rolling hill afterwards. Like dude, stop making it about yourself. I don't think it was an embarrassment. The rain caused the first slip and at the very least didn't help the second. Also it was the most straightforward way for him to get off the course dry in that situation.

All that hyping of a new final and no one got there LOL False advertising. Did we get any confirmation its a rock wall? They kinda showed it in one of the videos. It had red handholds and it looked like one of those speed climb walls Lee Enchi would climb in his fluff pieces

Don't know if it's over for Takeda yet. He's made no official statement yet. Never say never
But Shingo's fail was disappointing lol. Also surprised he was not D/Q'd on the Silk Slider.
Yamada just got a bad course. He proved he can get to the Dragon Glider last time

Teasing the final with the klaxon blaring was false advertisement.
First half of Stage 1 was well rounded but felt a bit drawn out.
Rain shot the legitimacy of the tournament, but it is what it is. They should have better preemptive measures for this type of thing like sossasuke said in another thread. I doubt it'd take much to have a temporary tarp over the walls at the very least.
Kanno and Shunsuke... why? Shunsuke doesn't even practice the Dragon Glider but Kanno did. Really a shame
Yoshiyuki I really thought was going to the final. Was shocked he fell on the Swing Edge. They weren't showing off Tada or Morimoto Yamamoto in the first stage so I was convinced it was gonna be him in the final, especially with all the attention he was getting.
Shocked at Ryo and Yamamoto's fails. Happy Ryo made it back to Stage 3 though. He really earned it this time. Surprised the cohort of Ryo through Tada even cleared to begin with tbh. The rain really mainly killed the last 5 runners. I expected fewer clears, but even the first half of Stage 1 was stacked this year.
Hioki is so consistent, but what was that timing on the Cliffhanger? Look I'm not gonna act like I know better than the guy because he's a pro, but I'm pretty sure he went way too early.
Suzuki Yusuke did great.
Tbh when I saw Yusuke posting training videos on YouTube during the tournament I had a feeling he was already doing damage control before his run lol... I think he did something similarly in 37 but could very well be wrong.
Oh and lastly, Kan Yutaka (spelling I'm unsure of) did excellent for himself. He's always been my favorite celeb I think deep down. Guy's always subtly very funny. I can't believe he made it that far though.
Pretty meh tournament. If there was no rain I'd say it was a solid 8. With the crapshoot First Stage I say it was maybe a 7.

He can't control everything and he probably had various time restraints for and during filming. S*** happens. I would have accepted that a few years ago, but not now. The fact that this course (Specifically Stage 1, as Stage 3 has some coverings) is not weatherproofed at all after multiple tournaments of rain ruining everything is shameful. That's fair. At least for the walls they could have had a tarp

December 28th, 6:00pm Japan Time 9:00am UK 4:00am ET 1:00am PT In UK time what time would you estimate competitor 50 would start their stage 1 run? I'm guessing here but since it's a 5 hour long broadcast, I'd guess Stage 1 will be 2.5 or 3 hours, Stage 2 an hour, and Stages 3 and potentially 4 an hour or 1.5 hours. Based on that I'd say #50 will be running around 10:15am UK on the safe side, probably 10:30am though.

Best video released so far IMO. Especially the montage after Sasuke 28. Yamada's gotten a lot more likable over the years. Also I don't speak Japanese, but it seemed like at the end he was saying he thinks Sasuke can be enjoyed by people in their 40s through 70s in addition to 20 and 30 something year olds. Maybe we'll see a 70 year old Yamada running one day.

I don't think anyone despises him per se. I just like underdogs and I think that's the norm for most people. When Nagano was at his peak I felt similarly. It's nothing personal. I still respect him greatly and he deserves every win he gets, but I also wish the first 3 stages were more varied

I think if any of his fails are due to a slip from wet conditions then he should just discount it.
The weirdest thing about all of this is that it's literally only shown raining during Yusuke's run (I'm pretty sure even Yuuji's shots in the videos have shown no actual rain falling and he's #99). lol the look on Yusuke's face with the rain dripping off his face in one of the trailers is just "you have got to be %#*^ing kidding me..." Two runs in a row this guy is running in this weather.
Also can anyone confirm if the first wall of the Ni Ren is actually shorter? I think it is but it doesn't look as short as 28-30's version to me.
Anyway if the course is wet I don't see anyone clearing it. We'll see in just a few days. I do wanna say though I did post here on SMF about a dream I had where Tomo failed the Ni Ren with water on the bottom of it way before the double wall or rainy first stage were ever revealed for this tournament... Granted the dream also had ropes on the top of the walls but yeah... I just thought that was funny

If the wall's wet then no one should expect him to count it. A wet warped wall is beyond difficult to do. I've tried outside
