What an absolute farce. If Yusuke had failed the First Stage in a legitimate manner I would not be this angry.

He can't control everything and he probably had various time restraints for and during filming. S*** happens. I would have accepted that a few years ago, but not now. The fact that this course (Specifically Stage 1, as Stage 3 has some coverings) is not weatherproofed at all after multiple tournaments of rain ruining everything is shameful.

At least for the walls they could have had a tarp

You can't waterproof Stage 1 because there's no structure hanging over it.
That said, I 100% agree it's shameful that they didn't get a rerun or delay taping until the next day like they did in 32. Speaking of, why didn't they do that?

You can't waterproof Stage 1 because there's no structure hanging over it. While I understand that Inui probably doesn't have the budget to build a tarp over the entire stage, it seems more than reasonable to build one over the walls. I would like him to build one over the entire stage though.

Honestly they probably would have done had this happened more often. They've been VERY lucky over the entirety of the show that we haven't had more issues like this.
A bit of dampness can be wiped down here and there, and with 37 I sort of sympathise as they'd already delayed the taping an entire day, but with rain you can't do anything about it unless you tarp the entire thing which again they never predicted, which I agree was f***ing dumb, given that it's rained in Stages 2 and 3 multiple times.
They just kept trying their luck and this time it ran out, at the expense of the last 4-5 runs. Don't know how Yuuji or Yusuke can look Inui in the face in the same way after he messed up their runs as a function of his incompetence.

The circumstances in which he failed is certainly bulls**t, but if anything, Yusuke's fail so early on effectively boosted his chances of doing well next tournament.
He's had the chance to watch and observe from the sidelines the new changes to the course. If he's able to come up with the crawling technique literally almost everyone uses it after the Rolling Log, he's likely able to come up with a way to consistently clear the Swing Edge, which I suspect, is more down to how you control your momentum.

You know, if it has to come down to making the entire course indoors, then so be it. Make it SASUKE 1 all over again. Because I don't really see Inui placing huge tarps all over the first stage. I mean, when they brought back Kunoichi for such a brief time, they had it all indoors as well. So I guess it wouldn't be too much of a bad idea.

Completely unfair to Yusuke. No question mother nature was the reason for his failing. Not much can be done, but it does make me wonder how it will affect him in future tournaments.

Probably won’t affect him that much given that he knows that his failure was out of his hands. Besides, he failed Stage 1 in 37 and then won in the next tournament.
I did notice though that his entire run was really shaky up until he failed which was so unlike him. It was obviously due to the wet platforms but a part of me felt as though he knew he was f***ed on the wall anyway which was affecting his judgment throughout the rest of his run. Like he was an inch hair away from being knocked off the Fish Bone and he was going a lot slower than usual.

Takeru, Kawaguchi, Yuuji, and Morimoto all deserved reruns. I found it outright disrespectful to them since the rainy wall was damn near impossible with the Tackle in play.

Darvish and Yamada as well. Especially for a celebrity who’s given so much hype by the producers, you can’t argue that Darvish has been wronged probably more than any competitor in recent years. In 32 he got f***ed on the Tie Fighter by the dampness, in 38 the Dragon Glider malfunctioned to the level that TBS tried to cover their tracks and not even show a replay on Paravi, and now he got f***ed by the rain.... neither him nor Yusuke looked that upset after their fails as I think they knew what was coming.
One thing I don’t get is why they didn’t wipe down the wetness from the platforms properly. It wasn’t actually raining from like #92-99 but the competitors still suffered from the slickness of the obstacles. Obvs with Yusuke there was nothing you could do as it was pouring it down during his run.
Also another thing I hated was how they showed a Sasuke 8 throwback when it started raining as an attempt to justify an ‘additional challenge’. It didn’t work because unlike this tournament, it was bad weather for the entirety of 8 so it was fair game, whereas here it was just plain unfair to some competitors. It’s another effort from TBS to cover up their incompetence in organisation.

Seriously, has Inui learned nothing from the past five years?? They did what they could, even having rain delays (as was shown in broadcast) to try and clean everything up for safety. My personal guess is they saw how the tournament was going to that point and didn’t think they’d have the time to run the remaining competitors the next day. He has actually learnt some things tho, he pointed out in one of the recent videos leading up to the tournament that he had given Yusuke the choice last year with the rain issues (during the Final), and he said he’d do it. He (Inui) pointed out that both him and Sugiyama-ana were shocked and didn’t think he’d be able to do it.

No, I'm happy about Yamada and Darvish's results, their fails had me dying with laughter for hours because I really hate these two characters who also didn't deserve ridiculously high numbers either and I hope Inui learns his lesson to stop obsessing over Darvish so much and keep giving him high numbers, Yamada included. If a celebrity has to fill the position of receiving an extremely high number so badly, then Kajihara or Snow Man deserve the spot. I do feel bad for Morimoto failing the wall again but I knew it was coming because of his short height which works to his disadvantage of scaling a wet wall, but this result is better than just boringly and repetitively making it back to the Final Stage again, which would’ve been unlikely due to the modifications in the Sidewinder and the introduction of the Swing Edge which took out half of the field.
