Heh I have TOTALLY different tastes than you Bada Though I did watch Tonari no Seki Kun with much delight! Next season I'm looking forward to Mushishi. Anything else is just gravy as far as I'm concerned Perhaps, but also keep in mind I don't watch much anime. I'm 99% a manga person. The only reason I've even watched any of those shows is because I started hosting an anime night on Saturdays - been going about a year or so now. So we watch things that we can all enjoy. Also, a lot of the shows I listed you really shouldn't judge until you watch. I say that because a lot of those shows had preview images and trailers and they really don't truly portray what the shows about, and in some cases they outright lie to trick you (Samurai Flamenco). A lot of the shows I watch are deconstructions as well, which I'm ALWAYS game for - even for genres I hate. Deconstruction of the magical girl genre? Sign me up. Deconstruction of shounen battle manga? Sign me up. Deconstruction of giant robot show? Sign me up. Musishi is something I've been interested in for awhile - and I actually have the manga downloaded and ready to read at any moment. In other news, I've been watching Legend of Galactic Heroes. That show is legendary. Can't wait for the remake.

So this season is ending. I'm losing a bunch of shows. My final thoughts of this season and leftovers from last season.
1.) Pupa - Do not watch this show, unless you're doing it ironically. In that case - it's pretty hilarious, but these 4 minutes episodes of cannibalism are awful.
2.) Tonari no Seki Kun - 10 minute long comedy episodes. It's a great way to start off our anime night. I highly recommend. The show is only half way over, but it's been great so far. Check it out!
3.) Hamatora - A neat deconstruction of the super hero/super power genre. It hits the same notes as Gatchaman Crowds and Tiger and Bunny. It's worth your time, though it's not amazing.
4.) Noragami - This show is fantastic. Incredible animation and ost, great endearing cast, and a fun story. Plenty of cheerful but also deep and though provoking episodes. Studio Bones does it again.
5.) Space Dandy - If you're not already watching this show... what are you doing? Likely to be one of those shows that people talk about for years on end down the road. This show has so much hype behind it. Every episode is done by a completely different group of people, and it's just been an incredible ride so far. Show ends next week, but resumes in July.
6.) Samurai Flamenco - This is a winter leftover. This show is completely bonkers. Some people hate it with a passion, but I LOVE it. I highly suggest watching this up until at least episode 7. This show will never cease to surprise you at every turn. The production values are a bit low, and sometimes it feels like there are a bit too many twists, but seriously try this out.
7.) Kill la Kill - Trigger doesn't fail to disappoint. Made by most of the people that worked on Gurren Lagann, I actually prefer this show. Don't let the fanservice scare you away. I'm normally someone who has almost no tolerance for that kind of crap (see early posts in this thread if you don't believe me) but man this show is just too amazing. At least watch until episode 3 when they go into detail about the philosophy of this show.
8.) HunterxHunter - I've been watching this show for years now. It's not ending yet, but it's coming to an end. If anyone here likes shounen at all this is a MUST WATCH. It is incredibly trope breaking, and super fun to watch.

I still don't know where my region is. I hear that Kansas citizens are part of the Denver region, but I'm right on the border of Kansas and Missouri.
Apparently some arkansas people getting called down to dallas, and I'm not far from there either.
Of course St. Louis seems the most likely, but that scares me as the competitor pool for that region is probably ridiculous.

Aww, don't knock Blair. He was at least genuinely interested in the show.

Alison was the best. Angela Sun wasn't terrible. She talked to a bunch of us in the competitor's waiting area and interviewed a bunch of us.
Jenn Brown seemed like she didn't care at all.

I don't more, I'm more trying to figure out what that green stuff I can see around some of the white is. And also trying to figure out what the word "warm" means... So uhhm yeah how is the weather in St. Louis, especially at night? St Louis will be fine in April. We are still getting cold weather here for the time being, but it should be 70's by april depending on the day. Nights will probably be chilly, but certainly warmer than Denver and baltimore were last year. Also now I'm concerned... I feel one of the reasons I was picked in past years was because I was part of the smaller regions with less people signing up. I'm I am scheduled for St. Louis, I am most likely in a MUCH bigger pool. I think at this point I'd rather bite the bullet and spend the money to go to Dallas... but I know it's not my choice.

If we, Missouri residents, get accepted and have to travel to any other state (if St. Louis is the city) to compete then NBC will feel the wrath of Odin's most favorable son. To be honest, St. Louis is a terrible city and I wouldn't feel too upset at not having to venture out there.

I guess you could play "who do I recognize" with this pic. Nagano, Shingo, Yamada, Yuuji, Kanno, Ryo, and Asa were the only ones other than Kuramochi that I could recognize quickly. I see Koji and Keita.

So, does that mean more competitors are going to be shown per region than last year?

Yeah, that seems really weird. I have competed in both Denver and Dallas before - but having BOTH as locations seems kind of weird... things get even crazier when you include St. Louis as well. Where the hell would I even be competing?

I will show mine privately to people I trust, if I decide to upload at all.

You'd think that (and most of us did), but then several guys that smoked the course in ANW4 weren't invited back for ANW5. Like, top times in their regions. No invites. It makes me wonder what their goal is with casting because it's not athleticism and it sure as hell isn't interesting back stories. Pretty TV face? It's 100% not athletic ability. I mean you should show yourself doing some stuff, but it's honestly such a small part of the video process. There's a reason someone like me got selected for anw4 while hundreds of others who stood a better shot than me were not selected.

Levi has been pretty out of the ANW scene in the last few years so that's doubtful.

So 5 regions this year is confirmed? I forget how many we had last year and the year before that.

I don't understand how they were chosen. What about the people that got to the walls like Shunsuke? I mean, the stage 3 people are obvious, but Shingo seems odd.

Also question for first time applicant, when do they usually contact people about their entry? Is it usually soon or after the deadline has passed? Depends on your region. Last year I got a call back when most other regions were done filming.

i6.minus.com/ibrCvH1LbjcXNY.jpgWhen these lists come out, I write down literally anything that slightly interests me (since I only have 1 picture to go off of, I don't want to miss out on a potential good show). Then when the trailers come out, I usually cut that down in half now that I have a better idea of the shows. Next step is to watch the first episode of all of the shows that made the cut, and choose about half of those to continue watching. Sometimes I'll give 2-3 episodes, but usually you can tell based off of the first. So for the first phase I'm interested in 1.) Jojos Bizarre Adventure 2.) Mekaku City Actors 3.) Black Bullet 4.) Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei 5.) Mahou Shoujo Taisen 6.) Haikyuu!! 7.) Fuuun Ishin dai Shogun 8.) Kenzen Robo Daimidaler 9.) Hitsugihime no Chaika 10.) Captain Earth 11.) No Game, No Life 12.) Majin Bone 13.) Sidonia no Kishi 14.) Akuma no Riddle 15.) Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to That's probably the most I've ever been interested in for a season in a long time. Probably will only end up watching about 5 of them though. And look Rider, a new yugioh

People who confuse the use of "you're" with "your". It's such a tiny thing, but it hurts me on the inside every time I see it.

Spring anime list looks fantastic. A lot of potential in some of those shows.
