I wasn’t planning on saying anything at first, but this has been biting at me. I’m not going to go too much into detail, but I will say that I have been through situations of abuse involving an adult. As a result, I am very very passionate about keeping children safe. There are so many words to describe what Drew has done (honestly none of them really capture the anger that burns within me). Now let me give some hypotheticals: It is the ADULT’S RESPONSIBILITY to make sure the child is safe. This should be a non-negotiable thing and i’m really not sure why people are trying to do so. It DOES NOT MATTER if a minor willingly engages in sexual activity. People aged 14-15 are not fully developed mentally, and they fail to understand the true weight of consent. I refuse to speak on a young woman’s behalf, being that I am male. But I know that young men often think about nothing other than sex. My point here is that an adolescent’s mind can be so clouded by the desire to participate in sexual activity that they don’t grasp the consequences of sex, or in this case, sex with a person of whom you admired. I’m not super knowledgeable about laws in the U.S., but I wanna say this is why there is a minimum age of consent. I don’t have a degree in law, (im a senior in HS) and I haven’t really studied the laws as much as I would’ve liked. But that’s my two cents. It’s appalling to see people blaming a 14/15 year old girl for BEING A TEENAGER. My thoughts go out to her and her family. And my thoughts go out to any victim of abuse.

also, GlobalNinjaFan, just curious, who's the last guy on the top 3 list? Is this including Drechsel?
Yeah, Morimoto, Drew, then Tomo. Here's the thing. I love Drew. Everyone does. And as much as it pains me to say, it's not super easy to say Drew can win, as he as at a HUGE disadvantage being American, and therefore a little bigger than the Japanese competitors. With all due respect, I believe him clearing the UCCH AND VL is just too big of a task. Heck, I would even say Ryo is more likely to win, because if he gets past his Stage 1 slump, who knows what he can do on the 3rd Stage. We have yet to see the limit of Ryo's grip strength.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Roulette Cylinder! Vertical grips are no joke man.

Figured I'd join some general discussion: Some games I play are: Older Final Fantasy games (nothing past 5) Zelda Fire Emblem Pokémon (of course Smash Bros. Mega Man Super Mario games Sonic games I don't play a lot of newer games, except for Zelda and Pokemon games.

This thread is very dead, but just thought I'd ask; what were all the winners of the contest?

Feel free to discuss. As someone who this would benefit, I always thought they should. However, I now realize that it's a bad idea. Younger teens should focus on actually important things, such as school. Something a lot of kids don't realize.

IIRC, Tomo's difficulty in the Final Stage in 30 seemed to come from lack of traction on the Spider Climb. If he has no problem with that this time around, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Kawaguchi kanzenseiha.

I agree, but maybe a better design? It seemed like there was a point where you could land with the pole, and it would be borderline impossible to recover, which I dislike. Don't know for sure if thats a design thing, but still. What do you mean by land with the pole? But yeah, I think design wise it could definitely be improved upon. I think the main reason I like it is because there are so many things that could go right or wrong. It's not a straightforward obstacle, which is something I think some obstacles lack and miss out on. What I mean is this: You can be really precise and study the obstacle, and if you hit the pole just the right way, you'll be done with it in less than 5 seconds. But just the most minor of miscalculations could lead to anything, and that doesn't necessarily mean instant failure either. A lot of other obstacles are do or die, but some of my favorites are ones where there are many ways to attack them, like the Jump Hang, which is another good example. You can grab it either high or low, and have to sacrifice either distance or height for that choice usually, and something can go wrong all depending on what choice you make. These types of things allow for the obstacles to be capable of taking out or at least slowing down familiar competitors in different competitions because something different can always happen. Inui totally missed the mark with the Jump Hang Kai. It only had one way to attack it, besides choosing right or left which ultimately are the same thing. By land with th3 pole, I mean the first placement of the pole coming into the obstacle. The competitor jumps and grabs the pole, the first places it goes is what I'm referring to.

I thought the Pole Maze was an underappreciated obstacle. The only gripe I had with it was that with Shin Sasuke's long Stage 1, if you didn't get it in one go, you were done. But sometimes people would take a second attempt and have to rush furiously through the rest of the stage, like Takeda in 19, and that was really entertaining. I think if it was implemented better it could have a really nice function, because it's still a cool obstacle by itself. Maybe ANW could benefit from it. I agree, but maybe a better design? It seemed like there was a point where you could land with the pole, and it would be borderline impossible to recover, which I dislike. Don't know for sure if thats a design thing, but still.
