After his Sasuke 30 run where he slipped every second on the Spider climb. How could he train and improve on an obstacle that he can never master because of his height. He looked alot better on the rope though.Does he have a chance?

This could probably be in the SASUKE 36 board so no lose spoilers are dropped.
Nevertheless, in my opinion, he would have to do it in SASUKE 36, in the final, his only hope would be to make up lost time on the Salmon Ladder and Rope, but he would still need to go fast on the Spider Climb, by any means. This would also mean he would need a perfect Salmon Ladder run.
Unlikely, but hopefully possible.
Another note/question: Was the Spider Climb in Sasuke 30 slippery or anything? Both Tomo and Ryo slipped on it. Was it slipperier than normal or just unfamiliar to the competitors?

Maybe. If he makes sure his hands are in the right spots on the 3rd Stage and he improved his speed on Final Stage compared to SASUKE 30, he has a chance.

IIRC, Tomo's difficulty in the Final Stage in 30 seemed to come from lack of traction on the Spider Climb. If he has no problem with that this time around, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Kawaguchi kanzenseiha.

He's the most likely to do it besides Drew and Yusuke.

Tomo attempted the Spider Climb in the Final Stage of SASUKE Vietnam, so I think he doesn't have any problem with it now .

Tomo could win, and that can’t be said for about 99% of the current competitors. He most likely won’t though

I believe so, I put him in at least the top 5 most likely to win.

As of now, it's hard to say. Since he works at a rock climbing gym, he has a pretty good advantage. With extra training & more strength building, I can see him reach the final stage. We'll just have to see!

Possibly. His rock climbing strength could see him past Three, but Four requires so much power honestly, I don't think anyone but Yusuke could clear that (and if so he'd clear by a hair's breadth).

At this point, it's about him being strong enough to beat the VL. He has as much a chance on the Final Stage as anyone else.

In my opinion, no. He's strong, yes, on another level to most Sasuke regulars right now, and easily in the top 3, but that just isn't enough to crack this monster of a Stage 3. Even with the rest bar added in 35, beating the UCCH, then the VLK right after is a HUGE ask.
I won't say he can't do it: he's close enough that it might be possible for him, but it'll take a lot of work, a bit of luck, and even then I don't think he has it in him to conquer Stage 4... if Sasuke 30's tower was too much for him, 36's definitely will be.

I mean, he literally owns a shoe company now...I would assume his footwear choice would be a lot more informed this time around.

And they are rock climbing shoes too, not your normal type of footwear.

also, GlobalNinjaFan, just curious, who's the last guy on the top 3 list? Is this including Drechsel?

Yeah, Morimoto, Drew, then Tomo. Here's the thing. I love Drew. Everyone does. And as much as it pains me to say, it's not super easy to say Drew can win, as he as at a HUGE disadvantage being American, and therefore a little bigger than the Japanese competitors. With all due respect, I believe him clearing the UCCH AND VL is just too big of a task. Heck, I would even say Ryo is more likely to win, because if he gets past his Stage 1 slump, who knows what he can do on the 3rd Stage. We have yet to see the limit of Ryo's grip strength.

To be honest, I cannot see Ryo getting past the Backstream, Reverse Conveyor and Wall Lift combo.

the thing is, each competitor has its bane. Take someone like Ryo and time and mentality is a factor; take someone like Drew (any non-rock-climbing American actually) and bam your grip strength is the issue. Yusuke, you just get shocked when he falls - he's insane at everything.
Whereas someone like Tomo - hell, we have no idea, because he's just made too many mistakes and that line is hazy. In 30, when he broke out, he failed the Final Stage - but no one gets the Final on their first try really. 31, 32, 33 and 34; areas that he's cleared before, and even in 35 it looked like he rushed the VL and slipped with his hand placements.
That being said, it'd be interesting to see whether he could get past S3 next season, unless he makes another mistake.
