I am thinking the Floating boards or Iron paddler, due to how ruthlessly competitor's struggled on them

Floating boards are too dynamic for that. Maybe Crank It Up.

I am thinking the Floating boards or Iron paddler, due to how ruthlessly competitor's struggled on them Once people started building iron paddler replicas they could blitz through it in 5 seconds. It was more a strength drainer because people were unfamiliar with how to work the obstacle. To me it's the tackle. You can see people like Ryo and Yuuji struggle on the warped wall after pushing those 3 weights.

If you're talking just Sasuke, either the Sidewinder or the Globe Grasper.

My two picks are kind of, you know, but if you think about the strength that they do drain...
1. Ultra Crazy Cliffhanger 2. Vertical Limit Kai (32~ ver)

Drum Hopper, despite no one failing it, it still drained the competitors strength

Iron paddler, drum hopper and sidewinder (combo of these would be very lethal enough to become a regular knockout obstacle)

Shingo had major problems on it before. Like there were times he was hanging on one handed and having trouble gripping the next globe

Is Body Prop a strength drainer? Because if so it's definitely a contender.
Otherwise, I agree that the Tackle has to be up there, it completely changed the dynamics of the First Stage.

I would easily say the tackle. Considering the challenge you suddenly have to move 3 huge weights then go straight up the warped wall. It's knocked out seasoned competitors because of lack of stamina/energy left!

i would say the tackle, seeing as the warped wall is right after that, which most competitors struggle on because they are shorter, plus there is the aspect of time to it.
in terms of upper body obstacles, i would say the floating boards is a good strength drainer. the move is difficult to begin with (vertical pinch grips, plus the boards taper), and you are almost forced to stay there for ~20 seconds seeing as there are four moves (including the dismount).
i WOULD NOT say drum hopper, because it is somewhat difficult, but the muscles worked are the triceps, shoulders and chest; the rest of the stage targets the pulling muscles (back and biceps mainly), hence it is not very effective imo.

Hmm... for First Stage, it’s easy to choose the Tackle. 860kg is not a small amount of weight to push forward.
For Second Stage, I would say Backstream. I know almost no one like it, but swimming in the late night at a low temperature (I assume 15°C) and you have the Ring Slider + Salmon Ladder combo before that. It’s a true challenge.
For Third Stage, I would say Body Prop. A real devil challenge, you have to use every single muscle in your body to pass this obstacle.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Roulette Cylinder! Vertical grips are no joke man.

I'm pretty sure it is colder than that, depending on the season, but the water is heated anyway. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Roulette Cylinder! Vertical grips are no joke man. They aren't that bad. Definitely harder than horizontal but overall not very difficult. I'd agree with the Roulette Cylinder as a whole though, especially the SSK26 version.

I would agree with Tackle, and Backsteam, although Stage Two's Reverse Conveyor is arguably more difficult, because you're wet and slippery; but obviously because of the Backstream before hand.
However, the muscles used in body prop are way different to typical S3 obstacles, targeting the shoulders and core rather than back, biceps and forearms, hence not being fully effective at being a strength drainer. Also, the move of wedging yourself between walls is not especially difficult unless the length between them is especially long; you can shift the weight to your quads if it's short enough; in fact, it's more of a matter of traction because Japan, at least I've heard, is cold and dry (thus dusty) in winter.
