That would be wonderful to see a Sasuke with the ANW budget. Even just the ANW Vegas budget since Sasuke doesn't include the city qualifiers.
Anyway, I don't wanna get off topic but you know how some of the American competitors watch/watched Sasuke (Ninja Warrior dub on G4) and know the results of the current tournaments. Do any of the Japanese competitors on Sasuke follow ANW to any degree. I was just thinking there has to be some cross-pollination on both sides

The only ones that have were the Team Japan guys that went to Vegas for the taping. Outside of that just Drew fans (some of the Shin Sedai). The rest have really no interest in the American show. It doesn't air on TV there.

It seems almost like Sasuke and ANW are having a sort of obstacle war, and seeing who can build the biggest, baddest obstacles. Wondering if this will be a trend.

This thread is getting a bit too off-topic. Please bring the discussion back to its original intention if you wish to post here.

The padding on the rolling hill is as horrible in reality as it was in the photo. I guess they built the whole thing and realized if people try to do the quad steps the same as the sextuple steps or 12 timbers as Akiyama and Yamada did in the comedy video they could end up with a few broken noses. Seems like they could have done a better job with it though, just looks a bit sloppy when the rest of the stages esp 3 and 2 are so cleanly designed.... (Backstream is clean i guess) Edit: Actually the long jump was only a few tournaments ago and that wrecked a few people so was the padding really needed at all?

Rolling Hill's base is a floating platform and last year, you had people who failed it actually go under the structure accidentally. The pad is meant to keep that from happening in addition to preventing people from wrecking themselves on the bottom if you try to one foot the steps. Besides, if you're touching the pad you're too low as it is and failure is inevitable.
And it should go without saying that landing onto a surface with sand breaking some of your fall is much different than landing onto a completely hard surface.

I think they also wanted to keep people from rocketing backwards with a lot of speed. Some of the fails last year were epic and commercial worthy but it was really dangerous. They'd pick up speed and fall faster backwards because they tried so hard to run up the obstacle making the rollers spin faster backwards. And just like yams said.. some rolled under it.. So while totally ugly.. it was needed especially for those who really weren't going to clear it anyway. That way they can grab onto something while falling and have a flotation device while someone fishes them out of the water. Trust me.. it was necessary..

Why do they get Yamada to do these things? Why does he agree to them? It is literally the same every year. Yamada gives "advice". People mock him saying they don't want his "advice". How to? Yamada, you could've done a how to session around Sasuke 10 and people would've taken it seriously. Not now. Get one of the new-stars to do it.

But still, this is essentially a game of "stop hitting yourself", except no-one is forcing him to do it. I can't get too mad though, considering ratings are key and stuff like 360 video and walkthroughs are all modern marketing techniques.

I just don't understand why he can't see how others see him.

No it's the same amount.. in fact it's less, however you are more aware of it now since it's hitting YouTube instead of regular television. He's still on a one named basis.. People think of Sasuke and immediately think of Yamada. He's that synonymous with the show. Best part for TBS is that they don't have to pay him. LOL

People can be smart and they know WHAT the show is and can still have fun making fun of the guy.
