yes but scnoi, also take into consideration the new 3rd stage and second stage. Both take a LOT more out of you to complete.
In 17 when Nagano beat stage 3 he wasn't that tired because... well it was a lot easier.
Stage 3 is a lot harder now, so upon beating it you'll be more tired for thew new final stage than the old final stage.

And that's an excuse to make it easier why??? This is supposed to be the ultimate survival game, why would they make the Final easier? Yes, they previous stages take a lot out of you, but why make a Final Stage where an average Rope Climber came inches from beating on his first try? Why would the first three stages have any effect on the Final Stage design? Make it as hard as possible, but still doable only if the competitor puts on a great performance.

I agree Scnoi, I was just trying to rationalize their decision.
I love the 2nd final stage more than anything. I think the time limit, the obstacles were near perfect.
There are too many variables to consider with this new one, which kind of screws it up...
I'm not a fan of the new final stage.
And spider wlaking was 10x more epic than rope climbing.

I'm surprised there's been such little talk about the Slider Jump, since it could very well be The Great Equalizer for Stage 1 for quite some time. It's a great addition to the course and will prevent Stage 1 from becoming stale. However, the course looked fast for a 2 minute time limit, even with the Circle Hammer. You can probably lower the course time to 110 next tourney and not have adverse effects.
I have to assume that the angle of descent on the Gliding Ring changed from the fall. Apparently, the course designers aren't physicists.
Speaking of physics, that's probably why the Final Stage looked as easy as it was. It's probably safe to assume that the G-Rope means there's some bungee/shock cord built in. However, Urushihara was so scrawny that the extra pull from either of the rope obstacles was negligible. This will not happen with Nagano. That being said, there needs to be either a drop of 5 second off the clock, or raise the height to 25 meters.
Stage 2 needs something new. Anything. Either that or drop the time back down to 65 like it was in 17.

I'm a little surprised they kept the Swing Ladder. I think it could be replaced soon. Or should be.
And when G4 airs this, I predict the Slider Jump is the Ninja Killer. Almost certainly.

The obstacles that took out the most competitors were the Log Grip, Jumping Spider, and Slider Jump. Circle Hammer was a good time waster, and ended up making it near impossible for some people to make it because of the amount of time wasted.
Slider Jump=Ninja Killer=evil

I may end up wrong on my assumption yet again. Last time I thought the Flying Chute and Warped Wall would be the Ninja Killers, turned out it was the Log Grip and Salmon Ladder.
I can only wait, of course. Either way, we've still got some sick obstacles.

Official papers?......uh, Chief, sounds like our favorite WP vandal has struck again. There's no such thing as Arm Bars. And what the hell is a Hanging Sofa? Makes no sense.

The Hanging Sofa actually sounds kinda relaxing, like you have to spend a certain amount of time in a hammock........... with a coconut drink that has a little umbrella in it......... useful after the pain those other obstacles put you through. I'm sure David could have used a little relaxation after what the Slider Jump did to his ankle.

To have the circle hammer as the 2nd obstacle wasn't too bad, but it can become a time waster since the island to land on isn't so solid/firm. With the moving of the Log Grip to the 3rd obstacle was interesting, kind of like how after, I think, after 12, they moved the Rolling Log up from the 2nd obstacle to being 3rd or even 4th. The repositioning of the Warped Wall after a good while was interesting, but of course the Slider Jump....that's just downright evil.
That's the newest equalizer for Stage 1 without a doubt.
With the Salmon Ladder in stage 2, it appears to not be an equalizer like it used to since no one was knocked out by it. In stage 3, the Shin Cliffhanger is still going to be a pivotal force to recon with seeing as we now have a ratio of 4/6 for success.
As far as the final stage goes, as much as yes it appears to be much easier, how can one truly say if one doesn't get affected from the whole course of the day? Answer, you can't. As much as he was close to finishing the the final climb, one has to remember that even from resting in between stages, you're still going to feel the effects of all you've done throughout the day, which in turn will affect your performance. Hence why since 4 onward, stage 3 has been an equalizer in itself for testing one's limits and endurance from feeling the effects of what has transpired so far.
Other than that, that's my take on it.

To have the circle hammer as the 2nd obstacle wasn't too bad, but it can become a time waster since the island to land on isn't so solid/firm. That's the first thing that occurred to me (well, it was just about the first thing I saw). That island was so spongy and so unstable I'm surprised people didn't wipe out right there. For all we know, some might have. I remember thinking landing on that thing just floating there was a good way to pop an ankle.

So how many people passed the Slider Jump? Wasn't it like 8 or so?

We know of 9 Slider Jump passes and 9 Slider Jump fails.

Is the 9 fails counting ones we saw in the fast forwards? I saw at least 2 before Urushihara's stage 1 run
