Yeah.. blame NBC for that disaster. If NBC didn't renegotiate OUT of their contract to still be a part of Sasuke we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place. Even with my vitriol against G4.. that pales in comparison to what NBC did. The damage is done.. now trying to figure out ways around it. As for how many "troll" the aps? Quite a few. It's a funny conversation whenever it happens. Honestly though, the Americans are not the only ones that do. The long-suffering Taiwanese have been doing it for a decade... Now with the latest stunt where one actually showed up to the auditions, that door is now shut. I gotta give him props for the cojones, but that didn't sit too well with the higher ups.

Someone literally showed up to the auditions? Holy... No. They faked being Japanese (2 people - Australia and Taiwan) on their applications. Based on the applications they sounded interesting and were allowed on the audition. Only when they showed up did they realize wtf happened. Jin had to translate for both because no one in the production staff were prepared with interpreters. Only the Taiwan guy (who was also in Team Taiwan at the ASEAN) were sent to Sasuke 30. The Australian dude didn't make it past his interview. So yeah.. Inui is now wiser to the ingenuity of the foreigners to get themselves on the show so THAT loophole is closed.

The other thing is that whoever sends in an entry needs to be contactable and flexible enough to come whenever the auditions are or whenever taping is. Of the people who are saying they want to try to send in entries, how many of you are ready to drop everything and fly to Japan at late notice? Twice, since if you make it, taping is not necessarily set by the day of the auditions.

Also checked, Drew hasn't given any news nor has Lee. I said that already. No official invites have been made. It's too early and they also haven't figured out how they will (or won't) handle the foreigners. That's what made those 2 guys blow the production staff away. They showed up to a country they don't even live in.. on their own dime. I know very very very few people would do that. Too many are used to thinking G4/NBC/Comcast would pay for their way. Those days are loooooooong gone.

Taiwan is less than three hours away by plane. Australia is a long flight though. I thought the Australia guy lived in Japan but did his form in Japanese and when he showed up, spoke no Japanese?
I'm assuming that SASUKE hasn't made it's way into Korea somehow (aside from the one manga artist guy who was already living in Japan). Because that's even closer than Taiwan. It's only a 90 minute flight.

It's only a 90 minute flight. None of them knew Japanese. LOL Jin wrote about it and it's still hilarious to read even though I heard the story many times. And yeah while the flight is closer, I know many people won't pony up the cash for the "chance" only. Even said, that won't ever happen again. It did give Inui a chuckle though and even told the boring Japanese guys in line that they should channel some of the passion of the Foreigners when trying to sell themselves to get on the show! LOL

Since the entry process stared earlier then 30 and 29, could this mean this SASUKE is going to air at spring?

Not necessarily. The deadline is only a week earlier than 30 and the trials are still happening in early April. And one thing they don't control is what kind of TV slot the show gets. They could tape it in May or June (not always a good idea in June due to the rainy season) but TBS would probably still wait until June or July to air because that's when the break in drama seasons is.

If there is no absolute ban on foreigners, I don't see any issue in one submitting an application, as long as they can prove that they have both sufficient time & money to be a part of the proceedings.

You are kinda late for that. Application process is now closed... Heh...not only do I NOT have the time & money, I have very poor stamina! I highly doubt that I could get halfway through Stage 1 without dropping to my knees and gasping for air!

Wonder if Okuyama will return. He did clear Stage 1 in 29.
