Rider that's what I get for doing this at 3am. LOL I'll fix that.
Lusitania Kanno was the tallest in that stage for Japan. Out of the group Shingo is the tallest but he's not the fastest which is probably why they didn't send him through Stage 2.

I thought so since Shingo is clearly that way but I can understand he isn't all too fast but hey it's either you're fast and reckless or slow and careful. I'm unsure what they would do if they had a second go at it. Even still. But I digress stage 3 is gonna be worse for them

I'm still working on other things to get them back here so I'll keep you posted on that.

Sorry about your grandpa. Why do you love Shingo so much anyway? I'm purely curious cause you mention him alot haha. And if it has to do with Sasuke 26-30, let me know later cause I haven't watched them yet...

This will happen again. They've been doing this since ANW started back when G4 had it and perfected under NBC.

Aww I really like Yusuke even more now after reading that blog. Thanks for the further clarification of the order in Stage 3, too. Looking forward to your part 4.

Just read your blog on on stage 3. As alway it's interesting to hear from the competitors although I wish it contained some views from the other teams. A few comments... On the UCH since 4 of the 5 Japanese were there last year why were they surprised to learn the ledges were only 5 cm was it shorter last year? And your right on saying this version is easier then the one Japan (what were the size of for the ledges on UCH in Saskue?) of all the times attempted on the UCH by an American in Vegas during a competition were successful ( 7 I think) also nearly all of the attempts by by all the other teams this year and last year were also successful. The only person to be defeated by this version was Kanno last year so hearing you report that any body from team Japan who got defeated by this version shouldn't be on the team what did Kanno think of that statement. Also in the post you mention that the official word was that Morimoto won by 3 seconds. What does that mean? Did the somebody from the show say that he won and later took that back and say Stefano actually won by three seconds a little clarification on that point. But still enjoyed reading it and your other recaps too!

Morimoto allegedly took less time between obstacles on Stage 3?
...The guy who went like 4X the time restraint before the CCH? That's kinda ironic @_@

So, Japan was not only robbed of points one, BUT TWICE, no wonder TBS does not want in next year, above other things

I didn't get a chance to talk to Team USA and coupled with the fact that my blog has always been Japan centric and most of my contacts are from the International side so yeah there's less chance to get from Team USA. Besides, the penalties against the USA side are so severe I doubt I would ever get a chance to get their point of view for another couple of years (just like has happened with previous ANW's - they don't want to break that NDA). I do try to make sure I don't shift the blame on the competitors and squash what I can about "fixing" because that's not what is happening. The competitors are clueless to what NBC is doing in the background and stand there waiting for the results from the loudspeaker just as everyone is in the audience. Then they also have to wait to see wtf they did in the television broadcast to see the magic editing. Team USA is still under NDA so if they are as upset about all of this they can't say anything publicly anyway. I feel bad for them. The penalty is harsher on them than anyone else and directly affects their future in ANW if they say anything contrary. It's just not going to happen. It's a hard balance to strike, however people who read my blog know where my loyalties lie. I want fair play and I usually get more reports from the international side. I'm sorry if that seems lopsided. NBC sure didn't help by making it so damn pro-American to the point where they felt they had to change the results and subsequent broadcast to trash the rest of the teams and Japan in particular.
Oh and yes.. TBS is piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiised.. no word though on next year. NBC usually waits until like April to bring it up. LOL NBC doesn't like paying for anything so they rely on TBS paying their own way. I know that won't be the case for next year but I'm not in any position of controlling that. They know my position on what they should tell NBC. I think you can guess. LOL
So yes Yuusuke and Stefano took almost the same time with 3 seconds between them. Where Stefano was fast on the propeller up to the Spider flip but lost time on the transitions between the obstacles and the floating boards while Morimoto was consistent between all the obstacles in an even pace without getting hung up on a single obstacle. ON TV it looks like tortoise and the hare. I don't think people realize how long Stefano also stayed on the rest ledge before the Flying Bar either! LOL In the end it evened out. In fact the reports conflicted on this. Some were as high as 5 seconds Morimoto and even 1 saying 2 seconds Stefano. It all depended on how much time they gave for that first little "tap" on the ball. Either way there was no way in hell NBC was going to get Morimoto on the board because Ryo (who just got back from Sasuke 30's Final) as up next. They couldn't take the risk. I asked Morimoto if he was given a time and he said no. He felt he was a little slower so he accepted the Stefano win with zero issues (even when speaking to him last week). TBS however asked NBC and was told Morimoto "jjjjjjust" lost. That time of the 3 seconds was what was given to TBS. I wasn't sure if it was .3 seconds or 3 seconds as I had some issue with how it was translated. Regardless, that turned out to not matter what the time was because the broadcast made it look like the time between them was MUCH MUCH wider. Even Morimoto agreed that the times on the entire broadcast were something that took his breath away. It was all over the map and he felt he was looking at a totally different event. Still though, he was still so jazzed he lived up to the pressure of that rookie spot on the team that no matter what NBC did, nothing could erase that he cleared Stage 3 and was the best Japanese in Stage 2. LOL he's such a great kid.
Oh and the UCH comment. Given that Team Japan was expecting Sasuke specs (and trained for Sasuke UCH/CCH ledge specs) they openly cackled seeing the 5 cm ledge. Remember, TBS assured them that the competition was going to be "Sasuke size" as per contract. So seeing the giant obstacles in the first 2 stages, then getting to the 3rd and seeing their overwhelming advantage on the giant UCH it was just a point of humor between them. At that point you had to laugh because things were going so poorly in Team Japan. They did what they could to find the humor to keep their spirits up and psyche themselves back up after being shut out (legitimately) in the first 2 stages.
