Wild Card Spots in ANW are cool in the sense that we get to see our favorite competitors who didn't qualify for Vegas get in anyway; but it also feels like people who get these spots should have actually beat the qualifiers if they want to go to the National Finals. So, should they keep or get rid of Wild Card Spots?

I personally find the wild card spots pointless. It's unfair to just give people spots for arbitrary reasons such as being a women, or because they're a top competitor who screwed up in Qualifying. More likely than not if you can't get through the Qualifying course, you can't get past the First Stage or any stage on the Finals course, so what real purpose do they serve? What I wish ANW would do is actually have 100 people run the Vegas course instead of 85 or 90 competitors, which are just strange numbers and imo waste potential on other competitors who were very close to getting to Vegas. Take the Top 20/25 competitors from each region depending on how many regions there are and get 100 competitors who all qualified for the course. I think that's the most fair and logical way to go about it. Of course fair and logical might be asking a little much out of NBC/ANW producers.

I'm not a fan of the wild card spots, and wish they'd have exactly 100 people attempt the Vegas Finals course. However, this is not to say I'm not for them whatsoever. In other words, I'd like to see the guaranteed spots be taken up by 15-20 people from each city finals course who legitimately qualified (depending upon the number of regions per season); the remaining spots (and potential alternates) could then be rounded out by individuals who did very well in city qualifying/finals courses, but didn't quite make the cut for Vegas. For example, if 17 people cleared a city finals course and only the top 15 from each city were guaranteed a spot in the Vegas Finals, the 16th and 17th-place finishers could be considered as wild cards (IIRC this is actually how a few alternates were selected for Vegas in ANW4 upon several qualifiers withdrawing). Perhaps some elements of speed could also be implemented into this idea, such as for individuals who cleared a city qualifier course the fastest out of everyone in each respective region. Additionally, as part of SASUKE's tradition to include "joke" competitors (as well as a possible ratings booster), I think ANW may also benefit from having 5-10 spots being reserved for well-known celebrities in the United States. While they may not necessarily be considered wild cards (maybe instead something along the lines of "special guest ninjas" ), they wouldn't be taking up the spots of those who qualified, and ideally would pose little to no threat to the course.

I really do wish they would have some SASUKE style celebrity or joke competitors on ANW, but on the other hand i can see since the vast majority of the "special competitors" rarely clear more than the first couple of obstacles, they just waste most of what we get in the way of them in trials, saving vegas for the real competitors.
back on topic , i like wild card spots. it's been my mantra all season when someone i like fails...." oh, they did X, Y, And Z awesome, they'll get wild carded."

Okay the question is weird.. Should or shouldn't keep or get rid? LOL I voted but not sure if I voted right.. LOL
I love Wildcards. That's what gives Sasuke that flavor (considering All-stars are wildcards). However, the way ANW treats them they are totally different. No one from "trials" would be on Sasuke if they didn't qualify so I see where the anger for the wildcards are on ANW. IF they had what I call a PURE wildcard (someone who didn't do any trials whatsoever) THEN ANW should keep them. As they are now, NBC is treating the Wildcards as a get out of jail free card to push people that they wanted regardless of how badly they did at trials. This system is causing resentment among the ANW fans (and ultimately the competitors) who feel cheated that they were not selected after busting their a** in the qualifying courses only to be shafted by casting. If they had them as separate groups I doubt there would be much anger. So as for the question I attempted to answer "keep" the wildcards because that's where you get the variety in the show. Not sure with the wording I actually voted correctly..

I like it when they give wildcards to the women and the older contestants, but giving the wildcard to an elite competitor who failed in qualifying is kinda ridiculous.

Also, it would be disappointing if the first person to win ANW was a wildcard because they didn't legit earn a spot in Vegas...

Agree with this (except it may be more than 100 if that many complete the finals). And yeah, the question's worded oddly EDIT: Though the problem with THAT is if it's the top 20 or 25, that's 20 or 25 out of 30. Maybe increase the number who move on to the finals?

I wouldn't mind a wildcard winning because it would point out the flaw in caring more about qualifying courses than the actual finals.

I like wildcards, it gives this opportunity to a competitor to run the finals course.

I honestly hope they get taken out for ANW 7. If you want to get a spot at Vegas, you should have to earn it.

I'm confused though. Is it that everyone is averse to the wildcards in ANW? Or in General? Would people be less upset if the wildcards were handled differently? or you guys want an all qualifier Final?

An all qualifier final would be BORING. This show is full of obstacle-replica-cultists as it is.
I say give the 'wildcard' spots to celebrities and pro athletes who have no time/place in participating in qualifying. If the show's producers had half a brain they'd be trying to sign on popular NBA, NFL, NHL athletes, pop culture icons like musicians or singers and perhaps even politicians with little to no ANW-specific training experience to spice things up. The way SASUKE gets comedians and (on rare occasions) A-list pop culture figures like NAOTO to compete. Reserve 10-15 spots for them.
This should please both sides; the wildcards will be serious underdogs, and if they succeed we will be excited to see them advance--imagine Lebron winning ANW... you don't think that would be fun to watch? (I just used Lebron for the sake of picking someone well known, not because I actually think he'd win, I do not care about basketball AT ALL personally)
