An all qualifier final would be BORING. This show is full of obstacle-replica-cultists as it is. I say give the 'wildcard' spots to celebrities and pro athletes who have no time/place in participating in qualifying. If the show's producers had half a brain they'd be trying to sign on popular NBA, NFL, NHL athletes, pop culture icons like musicians or singers and perhaps even politicians with little to no ANW-specific training experience to spice things up. The way SASUKE gets comedians and (on rare occasions) A-list pop culture figures like NAOTO to compete. Reserve 10-15 spots for them. This should please both sides; the wildcards will be serious underdogs, and if they succeed we will be excited to see them advance--imagine Lebron winning ANW... you don't think that would be fun to watch? (I just used Lebron for the sake of picking someone well known, not because I actually think he'd win, I do not care about basketball AT ALL personally) This highlights the point I was getting at during the end of my earlier post. Those who legitimately qualified wouldn't have to be seriously concerned about any of these wildcards winning, plus ANW as a whole may stand a better chance at gaining more viewers and publicity. This tactic is done very often in the world of television (guest stars on a series, game show, talk show, etc.), and it's been done in a similar respect on SASUKE; therefore, I don't see much of an issue with doing so on ANW.

He actually reads everything and I'd be surprised if he didn't have connections with the actual people who decide this kind of stuff.

Maybe instead of doing the wildcards, they do it in SASUKE fashion, inviting back everyone who passed the First Stage.

The biggest issue with more active/popular athletes and ANW is the chance of injury. If a big star tweaks something or worse, that's going to throw an organization for a loop. Screw the fact that you need a release anyway to participate, say, I don't know, Russell Wilson (someone who would easily be the most famous athlete who has appeared on the show) decides he wants to try ANW and pops his knee landing. You think the Seahawks wouldn't go for NBC's jugular?
Adam "Pacman" Jones wanted to appear for TNA in a wrestling role at one point due to his suspension. This is pro wrestling, something that you can control a lot more than an obstacle course, and the Titans threatened legal action if he actually appeared in a wrestling role. Whether the athlete in question wants to or not, there's quite a bit of paperwork to get past if you want to see more people in the prime of their career as an athlete in a sport or athletic competition that the general public cares about.
As for general celebrities, ANW isn't going to waste a spot on someone who isn't athletic and since they actually play the serious card from when the program starts, they certainly aren't going to give a finals spot to someone who isn't going to do well. ANW would have to change its "We're a sport!" mentality for that to happen. That's what I mean when I say it's the bad kind of Sasuke-lite as it is. It's gotten better, but NBC isn't interested in making it "American Sasuke."

Keep Wildcards. Add a little diversity to the line up

Personally I prefer the serious card I love watching people that have skill; I am glad they do not had out spots to some dufuss actor or actress because they are an actor. We have ANW stars and I rather one of them get a wild card over some stupid actor, comedian what ever. That is me that is part of Sasuke I hated sometimes I always preferred to watch the more serious competitor; just like when I watch the NFL, NBA etc Then I have a different view than some people

I'd say get rid of wild cards. Sasuke wouldn't let ppl who competed in the trials and didn't qualify compete at Mt. Midori, why should ANW?

I say make the wildcards "vote-in" spots. After each final, we should get to go online, watch their runs and vote for out own top 5 from each city.
It would be great for social media, and might increase viewership (and generally, would mean more meaningful wildcards chosen)

The entire show is taped before it airs, so there would be no way to choose wildcards after the show because they already ran in Vegas! Good idea though.

I like the idea in theory but there's a serious problem with that, taping, qualifying is airing by the time vegas tapes, by the time any finals show up on TV Midoriyama has been taped and edited, if they did a voting after finals there would be a big gap in airing because now the next episode isn't ready to go...

I'd rather deal with producer bias than fan bias in regards to voting people in Wild Card spots. Last thing we need is the show being affected by campaigns made by competitors.

Meh, it would be cool to vote for wildcards. But if you do that before the season airs, the season will be spoiled a bit...

Not too hard, just that ANW is going to have to become a priority show. If all the other reality competitions (Idol, AGT, etc...) can do it, then so can ANW. Just pretape/edit the qualifier/city finals, and put a real crew on a delayed Vegas to edit it faster. Not to mention, they could have pre-taped filler episodes (vs world, vs japan, best of, etc), repeats (they do this already), breaks (emmys) or any other number of reasons they already use to delay Midoriyama. That should give them plenty of time to edit the Vegas finals. It also gives competitors more training time until Vegas.

ANW doesn't have the ratings to entice them like AGT does. The big flaw with that is you expect people to choose based on who has the best chance at success. That's the ideal way to judge competitors, but you'll have viewer bias, which throws that out of the window.
If someone is voted in who is entertaining on course but might not necessarily have the complete package over someone who does but prefers to get the job done without all the fluff, that doesn't help the overall competitor pool. Say we have a situation like this season where Brent, Drew and Flip didn't make Nationals and they get voted in anyway, which is no different than the producers just giving to them. And you're bound to have viewers vote like those competitions where they vote for someone because they're more attractive, regardless of talent.

Though, the wildcards this year didn't seem to have a logical explanation (be it talent, liability or otherwise) And if it was all supposed to be merit based, why not a top 20 instead of 15. wild cards should be wild, should they not? At best, voting makes the best out of the situation and gets viewers more involved. (And possibly generates more interest.)

At best, voting makes the best out of the situation and gets viewers more involved. (And possibly generates more interest.) - You can argue for any season once Vegas was introduced that some choices seems less logical than others. That's the subjective nature of them. Now, nothing can be done when someone just isn't offered one, but there have been cases where someone was offered but refused for whatever reason. It's considered Drew wasn't given one because NBC "allowed" (that's BS to begin with) him to go to Japan (if that's not actually the case, welcome to correct me). Sure, he failed earlier than others who didn't make it, but his status would warrant one because he's cleared the last two Stage 1's he's been in and has a built-in story about failing Stage 2 consecutively. - I would prefer a Top 20, but ANW 4 had 6 qualifiers, and ANW 5 had just 4. This season was the first time we actually had the opportunity to mathematically have 100 competitors without needing wild cards (and even then, we didn't get 100 with them). The Top 15 rule has been in place since the beginning; it's for consistency's sake. If they decide on 5 next season, maybe they've talked about increasing the number of people who can qualify. Wild cards in sports are simply a group of people/teams who didn't qualify for something via the normal means. In ANW, it's people who didn't make the Top 15, but are considered to have performed well enough (or have a decent story) to justify getting a chance. It doesn't mean random people who didn't even compete in the first place. - We just have to agree to disagree on voting being the best possible situation. The potential negatives outweigh the potential positives to me, since the show is meant to celebrate physical accomplishment. People like to say "Oh this competitor didn't deserve a wild card." So they deserved to be voted in via a popularity contest? Viewers don't need to be involved in every little process. They want to be involved? Watch the show, talk about it on social media. That's a much better way the show can benefit.

A) telling me things I already know B) all I'm saying is if they got voted in, people would have less to complain about (instead of inconsistency in handouts, disagreement with choice methods, and the subjectivity of who deserved it more since each course is different and not balanced). If the majority votes them in, then the majority should be happy, which is more than we can say right now...
