I'm thinking the red thing is the pipes for the arm rings or something for the bridge of blades.

Hey guys can we do a thread for each city with (Spoilers) just like we did last year? That way we can concentrate on all the things at once rather than have this go for 50 pages and everyone missing it because it's too long to read.

Obstacle report! Yay! Love it!
I'm pretty sure it looks like this.
#1 - Quad Steps (this has never changed, and is the iconic first obstacle) #2 - ? #3 - ? (last year the changed this out per region, I would expect the same per city here) #4 - ? #5 - ? (last year the changed this out per region, I would expect the same per city here) #6 - Warped Wall (opening round ends here) #7 - Salmon Ladder (I would be shocked if they change this after the Warped Wall) #8 - ? (last year the changed this out per region, I would expect the same per city here) #9 - Cargo Climb
This is fun!

Didn't see Arnette's comment before my above post. Yeah, creating a new thread for each city makes total sense ;-)

Thanks Arsenette! Great idea to organize this way. Let's migrate our discussions to specific cities over there, unless it is a generic 'regions' point.
Like this one! LOL. I'm pretty certain that the regional structure from last year is dead, and the new regional structure comes in the form of these 4 cities which serve as proxies for regions. I bet they are targeting running 150 people per city for the opening rounds, will advance 50 to the semi-finals, and then will advance 25 people from each city to the National Finals in Vegas. That's my best guess, not based on any insider information, but logic and history.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask but I don't know where else the right place to ask is... That little mini training area they have there (and can be seen on TV at times), is that just for competitors or can anyone use that?

For ANW4, the little training area was inside the corral that the competitors were told to stay in (none of us did). I'm pretty sure nobody else is supposed to be inside there, but that didn't stop people last year. Unless security super tight this time around, I doubt anyone would stop/question you.

Yeah because I know I'd want to play around in that little area while in baltimore, maybe I should hang around competitors (Hint hint to SMF guys running in NE )

We all had numbers around our necks that they were probably looking for...but after an hour or so people started coming in and no one questioned it.

What's this about tickets? are they absolutely needed?
EDIT: Joined the waitlist to be safe, it said the 7pm audience in baltimore was full so I joined the wait-list for the 10pm showings. (Even though I plan getting in there in the middle of the day on 19th and late afternoon on the 20th (not 100% sure I'm going to the city finals but I hope to go, depends on how much sleep I get lol )

Tickets are most likely for bleacher seats. There's probably not going to be anything stopping people from just walking around and watching from the sidelines. I sat in the bleachers at ANW4 for probably about 20 minutes. It was absolutely horrible. I don't recommend it.

Oh, thanks for the info. Well... if I want to sit down, I may have a spot in them at 10ish lol
TBH I wasn't thinking bleachers anyways, wanted to stand where I can get a great view, including running down along with the course to see (although not in any obstructive way) for great runs (important/interesting competitors, amazing runs, any other far runs worth following)

If it's like ANW4 (Venice was, apparently), I wouldn't even bother buying seats. The bleachers only give one view, and it isn't necessarily a great one. I couldn't even see the big screen from my seat at ANW4. That's why I decided to relinquish my seat to some lazy spectator and just mosey around on my own. I walked around and sat/laid wherever I wanted. I also got to talk to a lot of people while walking around all night. And it was definitely more fun to walk along side the course and watch everything unfold in front of you.
I'm probably biased because I can't sit still for very long. I shift in my seat a lot during movies, and flying is practically torture. Speaking of which, Buffalo to Baltimore. Roughly four hours of travel. ...Oh boy.

OK so I'm on the waiting list for seats I didn't plan to use anyways. Like I said, my plan all along was to try to get a view anyways (I just hope wandering spectators still get payed but hey, the experience itself is worth it).
And I kind of expected it to be more of a "mingle with the SMFers and Competitors" than a "Sit still and watch one obstacle" lol

I got a ticket for myself a while ago, are they seriously all gone already? Can the forum work out some way to spot each other? You know, stupid badge or a meeting spot or something? lol. Just an idea!

Well theoretically we could have an SMF meetup in the parking lot of the Maryland Science Center (right next to where the course is).
Looking at the train schedule I probably won't end up in baltimore until a bit after 5 (which is later than I hoped) but still would let me get there early enough for the event
EDIT: Whoops, this is the general regions thread and not the baltimore thread lol
Although while I'm in this thread I have a question... what's the situation with food and drink at ANW? I hope there's stuff provided since the only restaurants in the inner harbor I can remember are the cafe at the Baltimore Aquarium (which I doubt is just a stand alone restaurant and needs aquarium tickets, and that's at the complete opposite side from where ANW is) and the Hooters in that mall which has all the visible markings (I mean like a big orange umbrella with the logo on it, not a pair of boobs or anything lol ), neither of those I think are really good for ANW lol

They also had some mystery Lemon Lime drink (maybe gatorade) and bottles of water, although the water ran out fast. They also provided a snack lunch both nights, which consisted of a sandwich, a cookie, a fruit, and a bag of chips.
Second night they realized just how cold it could be and provided hot coffee with vanilla creamer. And more bananas.
