It seems that ANW 5 will have the same format as ANW 4; that is, three regional locations and a final 4-stage course. Does anyone know if the sites (LA, Dallas, Miami, Vegas) will be the same, or will they change from year to year?
Similarly, since this will be taped much later in the year, will there be trials for the northern regions (Northwest, Midwest, Northeast) or will they have to go south to a common location, as before?

It seems they explicitly didn't post any hosting cities yet. They probably haven't nailed down a location or they just don't want people knowing yet.

They haven't confirmed regional locations, probably don't have the spots finalized yet, they mentioned Vegas in the application so that one is probably final.

The beginning of the application states that it could be one or multiple tryout locations.

It is SO retarded that they do not release the locations and dates earlier! Some people would like to show their support or compete, but not knowing where and when far enough in advance must definitely stop some people from attending I know last year I did not find out about Vegas in enough time to arrange time off of work and get a flight I could afford

The reason they don't post it sooner is because they don't have the locations set. It takes a lot of time to choose a location, get the permits, insurance, etc.

Even "states" being included would be a good start. I know a few people are delaying their application because they need to know if they can afford to regionals..

The reason they don't post it sooner is because they don't have the locations set. It takes a lot of time to choose a location, get the permits, insurance, etc. That's...actually exactly what it is. My only hope is that regionals take place in the actual region this year. And that it doesn't take 18 episodes to complete one region.

Eh, regions only took 2 episodes (prelims and semis) which is fine I think.

I thought it was 3 eps per region, 2 qualifying round eps aired on G4 and then one ep of the regional finals (I.E. former Semifinals) aired on NBC. The editing on those was bad but the amount of eps for them wasn't bad (it was just how it seemed like it was 90% profiles instead of more runs). The episode problem was when we got to Midoriyama in vegas... Where 5 eps of it were stage 1 and stages 2 and 3 were just one double sized ep (granted a couple of regional finals had 2 hour eps but for the the rest of of the course that's bad, although understandable since only one guy (kinda) cleared stage 2 and only 3 people even passed the Balance Tank...). But anyways... Regionals was fine (time wise, they still should have had shorter profiles), the problem was Midoriyama taking up 6 eps... 7 hours (with commercials) is longer than the longest Sasuke broadcast, and that had bigger results... (OK less in stage 2 but 7 in stage 3 and 5 in the final...)

I remembered wrong because both episodes aired back to back, made me think it was 1 episode for qualifying.

I thought they dragged the regions out too much myself. I also took issue that some people got through in some regions when they couldn't even complete the course. And to make matters worse, others who completed but were bumped out due to lower time or better competitors had to leave (too many people to one region). But I guess I'm not the one making the rules :/

The latest distribution e-mail to competitors says "This season we will be shooting in different locations and on different dates than last year."
So there's a good possibility the cities will be different. ...hopefully they're adding some locations northward. Or is that just wishful thinking?

No idea but is it possible to press where specifically? it's a month out.. they should have generalized locations. btw thanks

Maybe they'll split the regions up into actual distinct regions instead of doubling up on them. (*crosses fingers* And hopefully this would allow them to accept twice the number of applicants so I have a better shot at getting a run....)
