The application agreements mentioned "alternates" and "contestants." Was the alternate system in play previous years? If not, that may be their answer to walk-ons. No sudden arrivals, and "walk-on" spots go to people selected as alternates.
On the other hand, if they have a quota to fill and not enough "contestants" and "alternates" show up, I'm not sure what they'd do. Walk-ons make sense in that case.

It's a shame they are less organized this year.. last year before the applications were up we know where the hell these things were going to take place It's frustrating. Last year I got my call literally 1 week before I competed. I work at dominos and we do our schedules over a week in advance so I was already scheduled for those days. I got really lucky being able to get them off.

Hopefully when they start making calls for the Midwest (kansas city, mo) region it's at least a week and a half in prior to the run. Walgreens makes our schedule is 2 weeks ahead.

Ok, casting director just posted on Facebook that there ARE walk-ons, and the Midsouthish region will run mid-May. (Well, she said, "Missouri" but I'm pretty sure that's gonna include me and Matt.)
So, yay, month and a half for more strength and cardio improvements, whoo!

Just wondering, who is the casting director? I am from KC so I guess we would be at the same regionals if I get a call.

Can't wait!! The link above also shows the Las Vegas dates as June 21, 22, and 23. That's almost a 3 month wait for the Venice winners.

Last year, we had 6, so I'm a bit confused. It would be cool if people from the borders of America could make up 2 more regions (most likely Canada and Mexico LOL).

It seems to be 2 days per region so I think they're just doing 4 bigger regions, I think so they don't have to make things look bad by not having 30 clears and having to use people who didn't make it up the Warped Wall to fill the spots. I think day 1 is qualifying and day 2 is semis/Regional Finals

So is there a chance that the regions will take 10-12 people this time?

Do we know which states/regions will be competing at these locations? I am over 10 hours away from all four cities, so I want to try to get tickets to the one that will include my favorite competitors.

It's 5 regions. Mid west and mid south compete at the same location. Then you have East coast, north east, and south east.

I don't believe that we have "regions" the way we had them last year, meaning 6 (SW, NW, etc.). I believe, and have gotten some unclear language from casting that supports this, that each city is effectively its own region. Here is what Sabrina from casting said:
"Hey guys, regions are not as DEFINED this year. In each of the 4 cities, we will have the qualifying round on the first night and the semi-finals on the second night. Thanks!"
So...each city is sorta its own region. 4 regions which should sent maybe 25 people each to the National Finals (assuming they keep 100 national finalists, and do away with the 10 wildcard slots). If they keep the 10 wildcard slots, then 22.5 people from each region advance. LOL.
