Here's what the schedule will look like, starting this Saturday. 12:00a Bleach 12:30a Naruto Uncut 01:00a One Piece 01:30a Soul Eater 02:00a Sword Art Online 02:30a IGPX 03:00a Eureka 7 03:30a Big O Season 2 04:00a Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood 04:30a Cowboy Bebop 05:00a Inuyasha 05:30a Inuyasha The first four shows have proven to get 1 million viewers, so 2 am really is the best spot for SAO. Few other points to mention: - Cartoon Network/Adult Swim are losing the rights to Thundercats, so it will not be returning. - The Toonami crew said that Sym-Bionic Titan will return at some point - Big O Season 2 also starts this Saturday as well. If you're wondering why they're not showing season one, it's because CN/AS owns all the rights to season 2 because they funded the entire thing. Bandai Visual still owns season one, but it's currently unlicensed in the US. - Eureka Seven has three episodes left and will not be returning. No idea what show is replacing it. Well, that sucks. I'd rather watch Sym-Bionic Titan and Eureka Seven in loops then watch Inuyasha OVER AND OVER. I know a lot of people like Inuyasha, but I hate it. At least we've still got One Piece.

Btw I was curious how SAO would fare and it did pretty good. I still find it amusing as all hell that they got a .07 rating at friggin' 2 am when G4 never got that in their entire existence.. toonamifaithful.com/toonami-ratings-july-27th/12:00AM Bleach 1.0 HH, 1.255 million 12:30AM Naruto 0.9 HH, 1.176 million 1:00AM One Piece 0.9 HH, 1.051 million 1:30AM Soul Eater 0.8 HH, 973,000 2:00AM Sword Art Online 0.7 HH, 930,0002:30AM IGPX: Immortal Grand Prix 0.6 HH, 705,000 3:00AM Eureka 7 0.6 HH, 731,000 3:30AM Big O/An 0.5 HH, 612,000 4:00AM Fullmetal: Brotherhood 0.5 HH, 565,000 4:30AM Cowboy Bebop 0.4 HH, 543,000 5:00AM Inuyasha 0.4 HH, 524,000 5:30AM Inuyasha 0.5 HH, 566,000

At least we've still got One Piece. So don't watch InuYasha? The reason it's at 5 am is because it costs the nothing to air the show and the show's ratings are really good for the time slot. You're not going to like Toonami's entire line up all the time, so just don't watch what you don't want to watch. Also, the reason Eureka Seven is going away is because Bandai USA doesn't exist anymore and AS won't have the rights to air the show after they finish this current run. There's still the mystery show replacing Eureka Seven. We'll just have to wait to see what it is.

Honestly I'm surprised they got it this time, [AS] had lost rights to it before Bandai's Anime licensing died, hell, they even gave it one last run on weeknights before it expired.
Question though, who holds US rights anyways with Bandai gone? I know Funimation got AO but what happened with the rights of Koukyoushihen? And that ignorant disaster of a movie too but that's less important... Trust me... Koukyoushihen (Anime) > Koukyoushihen (Manga adaption) >>> AO (at least the later Manga version didn't rape it THAT much like AO did, it was at least somewhat close) >>>>>>> Pocket Full of Rainbows (the movie was that bad... I'd laugh but that's no joking matter)

BTW, I really want that mystery anime to be Black God, or Freezing, even though I sure as hell know those two won't make the line up.

As for the original TV show and movie, they are both currently unlicensed in North America. Any company that wants to distribute those two would have to get a new license from Bandai Visual. It shouldn't be difficult for any company that wants it as we've seen other Bandai shows get re-licensed. So far, Discotek licensed Blue Submarine No. 6, Aniplex USA licensed Gurren Lagann, and Funimation licensed all the Tenchi Muyo series.

Not familiar with the first one, but I saw Freezing when it came out in Japan and I think it's safe to say it won't be on TV over here, not without beams of light everywhereIt was a good show, even besides the fanservice, but I'm glad AT-X exists and can show that stuff on TV over there lol

Breaking news! - On August 31st, Toonami will air Neon Genesis Evangelion 2.22: You Can (Not) Advance- On August 17th, Eureka Seven will be replaced by Star Wars: The Clone Wars (the recent CGI one). They also said they will skip some of the non important filler episodes. This was certainly a surprise, to me, but putting a show that costs them nothing at 3am makes sense. Soul Eater and Sword Art Online are both on track to end around the same time next year, so I expect we won't see a major anime pickup until then, unless they decide to put a new show on at 2:30am after IGPX ends. Black God is made by the same guy who made Freezing BTW). Secondly, Black God like Freezing probably won't make Toonami. I'm guessing because they're owned by Bandai. Freezing is owned by FUNimation, but the fanservice reduces it's chances, but they were worth wishing for. And BTW yeah, he censors look ugly lol. Ruins the show, worse than 4kids ruined One Piece, so yeah good point. Didn't think about that.

Just to give you all a quick update; on August 10th, Toonami officially posted their best ratings ever as the first five shows all got at least 1 million viewers. That's quite an accomplishment. toonamifaithful.com/toonami-ratings-for-august-10th/12:00a Bleach 1,247,000 12:30a Naruto 1,190,000 1:00a One Piece 1,039,000 1:30a Soul Eater 1,000,000 2:00a Sword Art Online 1,077,0002:30a IGPX 825,000 3:00a Eureka 7 831,000 3:30a Big O: Season 2 664,000 4:00a Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood 669,000 4:30a Cowboy Bebop 599,000 5:00a InuYasha 586,000 5:30a InuYasha 615,000 Also, Jason DeMarco is teasing that something will air during the August 31st edition of Toonami (the night Eva 2.22 airs). No idea what it is, but knowing Adult Swim it pretty much could be anything.

Maybe an Evangelion 1.11 and 2.22 double feature? 3.33 was recently acquired by Funimation, and I don't think they've sublicensed it for broadcast yet (at least for the English dub).

We're most likely talking about something the size of a promo. For example, they could announce a new show.
Last time, they showed two random music videos. This was one of them:
I wouldn't speculate too much on what it could be. No matter what, you'll be wrong.

Can't help but wonder if a huge demographic was people for Otakon watching it in their hotel rooms, a group I'm admittedly not in due to staying late (and you know, not getting a room and coming home) lol , especially saturday (with both a late panel I wanted to (and did) go to, and my ride home going to the rave even though I didn't)

Just a quick update. The mystery show that aired after Evangelion 2.22 was Kick-Heart, the anime short Production I.G. funded through Kickstarter. For the record, I called it on twitter. Go me!

Toonami just made a schedule update on their tumblr page.
-On October 19th, IGPX will air for 1 hour to show its series finale.
-On October 26th, Big O and Cowboy Bebop will be taken off the schedule and replaced with FLCL and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
12:00a – Bleach 12:30a – Naruto 1:00a – One Piece 1:30a – Soul Eater 2:00a – Sword Art Online 2:30a – FLCL 3:00a – SWCW 3:30a – Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood 4:00a - Ghost in the Shell (season 1) 4:30a – IGPX 5:00a – Inuyasha 5:30a – Inuyasha
Couple of notes: - Toonami confirmed that FLCL will only run through its six episode once. That means there will be at least one more schedule change this year. - After 12 years, Adult Swim's contract with Bandai for the TV rights of Cowboy Bebop is finally expiring. If they want to air the show again (HD?) they'll need to make a deal with Funimation. - Both Sword Art Online and Soul Eater will be replaced with new shows when they complete their series next year. - Toonami is open to airing OVAs as well as shows with episodes that are longer or shorter than 30 minutes (GitS: Arise?) - Toonami teased more fun stuff in the future, including at least one more movie night during the holidays.

Viewership has been going down recently. Personally though the time is just ridiculous for them to keep wishing for more viewers. I do agree however that since they are sidelined with an awful time slot they need to mix it up and do first runs. It makes a series more important to watch since it won't be repeated, however why pick shows that are almost as old and the viewers they are trying to entice? This doesn't make any sense.

I know Adult Swim forever owns the TV rights to both seasons of GitS:SAC, royalty free (they helped fund both seasons, back in the day). So along with IGPX and Star Wars, it costs them nothing to air those shows. I don't know if it's the same situation for FLCL, but I know they've had the TV rights to the show, without the need of renewal, since 2003.
In regards to ratings, they said people going back to school typically causes their ratings to go down, but there's no need to panic. While they don't have enough viewers to expand, they are in no danger of being cancelled.

HUGE NEWSShinichiro Watanabe's new, upcoming series Space Dandy will begin airing in Japan this January. It was just announced today that Funimation is handling the dub and the dubbed episodes of the show will be airing on Toonami in January before they air in Japan. On top of that, Toonami announced that the show will begin airing on January 4th at 11:30 pm, meaning that Toonami is officially expanding to a 6.5 hour block next year. SourceOther news: -There will be an special surprise during the extra hour for Daylight Savings next Saturday -There will be three movie nights in December (Eva 3.33?) -FLCL starts this Saturday and the commercial for it is pretty awesome.
