Never got into One piece personally and I'm definitely not an Eva fan, however that is good news that they are getting good titles from Japan over to Toonami. I don't have cable so this doesn't even affect me. That said, I wish it was back at it's original timeslot in the afternoon.

Eugh, the One Piece anime is trash. LOL Japan doesn't seem to think so I'm not saying the series is bad (I love the manga), but I don't think anyone can actually defend it saying "it's a good adaption". Anime adaptions should at least try and cover 2-3 manga chapters an episode, but because One Piece is so close to the manga it does strictly 1 chapter every episode. The pacing is so bad it literally makes it unwatchable. It wasn't always like that either, but that's the point it is at now. I mean Pokemon still does really well in the ratings, but that's just typical monster of the week formula and Ash hasn't grown a day - and each time a new game comes out he just starts over with new Pokemon. It's stupid. Also that's like me saying Twilight is trash and someone retorting with "America doesn't think so". Yeah well America likes a lot of stupid things.

Hahahahah point about Twilight.. ugh.. the name now makes my skin crawl. I think the bigger issue is whether One Piece will have a larger American following. It's ginormous in Japan (the anime AND the manga) and it's existed for so many years in Japan it's not only a hit but a continuing success despite it's age and what you perceive to be a horrible adaptation of the manga. I meant to say that Japan disagrees with you because the anime is just as beloved as the manga as it's one of the longest running anime with a nationwide following. Unlike things like Bleach where the anime was canceled but the manga continues even to today, One Piece has stood the test of time in both forms in Japan. I don't think it will translate well to the American casual audience. I personally hate the art style to the point where I refuse to watch more episodes or bother reading the manga. I'm more curious from the standpoint of watching how it will fit in Toonami's lineup now. I'm impressed by how much Toonami is growing here given how last year people thought it was a joke that Toonami was even returning.

I'm not a fan of it but One Piece usually is in the top 10 of weekly airing ratings (although tbh I haven't checked in a while)

That said, I wish it was back at it's original timeslot in the afternoon. On the Toonami tumblr, they made it clear that will never happen due to Cartoon Network not being interested in bringing it back. Toonami is now an [Adult Swim] property and that's where it's staying. As for One Piece, I've only seen the Alabasta arc and, despite it being the 4Kids dub, I enjoyed it. As for Eva, the only episode I've seen is the last 2 minutes of the final episode on [AS]. I didn't know that was the show's ending until two years after the fact. ...Yup.

In "Holy crap, I did not see that coming" news, Toonami just announced that April 27th will feature the return of IGPX to TV. The surprising thing about this is it's been long thought that it would have been legally impossible for CN/AS to ever air it on TV again. Personally, I'm glad the show is making a return. I always felt IGPX was a show I should have watched, but didn't. It'll be interesting if it can gain a bigger audience a second time around. In addition, April 27th will also be date Toonami will be given a complete makeover with TOM 5, the Absolution 3, and a new look for the Toonami title. *Update 3/27* Toonami also mentioned that IGPX is not the show replacing Tenchi Muyo GXP. That show's replacement will be either One Piece or a different show they're trying to acquire. Btw more toonami news on how eva did. Personally I don't like Evangelion but am interested in how Toonami is evolving this time. Crunchyroll LinkIt's also worth mentioning that both Eva 1.11 and 2.22 were the top two selling anime titles on Amazon the night after the the movie aired. I think it's safe to say Toonami was a factor in this. Also, for anyone interested, here's a video of Toonami's panel from Momocon. It's contains a lot of interesting info of what goes on behind the scenes, what it was like when Toonami first started, the April Fool's stunt and plenty more. It's a really interesting watch.

In a way it's good that Toonami has the big 3 in popularity but unfortunately those shows suck XD Bleach is in no way part of the "big three" anymore, it's been handily replaced by Toriko - and it's lucky to get even in the top half of the rankings nowadays.

That, and the story got really bad (even for Bleach standards).
And I swear, every time I see it on Toonami it's always a filler episode playing.

Well, yeah, the anime got WAAAAAY to close to the manga. The anime team didn't want to be bothered with creating a whole arc like they did with the Bount(which I kinda liked), so they just did a bunch of one-shot fillers. But, yeah, Bleach's story just kind of fell off. You could tell that Kubo is just throwing things together now and hoping they fit.

Just to give everyone a heads up, tonight starts a new look for Toonami, including a new Absolution and TOM 5. On top of that, the Toonami crew is teasing a couple of surprises as well.
In addition to the new look, IGPX will begin airing tonight. I've seen the first episode (I own a preview DVD) and I have to say it looks really good. I suggest watching it.
EDIT: I should also mention that Jason DeMarco (co-creator and co-head of Toonami) tweeted that ratings for Adult Swim's late Saturday late night lineup are up 40% from last year and the network is making more money as well. That's a good statistic.

I'm amazed at how far this has come. Really excited for the return of IGPX. Been meaning to rewatch it for a while now. Totally underrated show.

The new graphics remind me of Code Lyoko's old episode graphics. In the later seasons.

For those who don't know, the big surprise was that SARA is officially back. She is now voiced by Dana Swanson, whose first VA job for Adult Swim was Le Sexoflex in Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters.
In addition, here's what the new bumbs look like.
