UPDATE: The Northeast & Southeast Regional Tryout in Miami, FL will be held at Florida International University on Tuesday, March 27th and Wednesday, March 28th with the finals happening on Thursday, March 29th. We will be shooting at night for all three dates; there will be no daylight competition. This whole tryout will be at night? That may make things interesting... Wow.. could it be because it will disrupt campus activities? I don't see why it wouldn't (or if it did why they chose that location..) I remember my university having classes just at every hour of the day.. Given how many delays there were even during daytime in the previous 2 cities.. this doesn't bode too well if it's all at night.

I hope those Quad steps are lit up nicely, otherwise we may have the worst clear rate yet.

Maybe they just loved the Dallas lighting so much they wanted both prelims and semis to be at night! Nah, probably not

How hot was it in LA and Dallas? Aside from possible campus disruption, isn't daytime Miami ridiculously hot? Could also give a better chance at a crowd if at night.

Well, it is March so everyone should survive. Maybe I have acclimated though and dont notice anymore, but its definitely not as hot as it will get here this Summer.

It wasn't very hot in dallas. Both days were incredibly humid, but day 1 was really cloudy.
Day 2 the sun came out and I got a wicked burn, but it never hit the 90's.

Are the finals definitely going to be broadcast in August? That piece from Deadline said, "NBC will carry 9 episodes of American Ninja Warrior," which, with the May 21 NBC start date, would let them finish the entire season before the Olympics start.

Who knows, honestly... take whatever that intern says with a grain of salt.

He said 9 episodes, not 9 weeks, are we sure how long the episodes were going to be? They're probably going to be two eps an hour each per week probably

Actually.. we do know: TCM posted this in the non-discussion thead: www.deadline.com/2012/03/nbc-sets-premiere-dates-for-saving-hope-love-in-the-wild-american-ninja-warrior/American Ninja Warrior, which will launch its season on G4 on Sunday, May 20, will debut on NBC the following night, May 21, from 9-11 PM. It will then begin its regular airing pattern on NBC with hourlong episodes in the Monday 9 PM slot, while also airing originals on G4. G4 will carry qualifying regional rounds that originate from six different areas within the U.S., while NBC will carry regional finals from each of the six regions, plus the finals from Las Vegas. In all, NBC will carry 9 episodes of American Ninja Warrior.
...
America’s Got Talent, which debuts on May 14 with new judge Howard Stern. It will air Mondays 8-9 PM, leading into American Ninja Warrior, and Tuesdays 9-10 PM.

You really can't read.. only ONE week will have a 2 hour long special.. then revert to a single one hour long episode every week for a total of 9 episodes. Regardless of how long the first episode was.. it's still 9 weeks.. It will then begin its regular airing pattern on NBC with hourlong episodes in the Monday 9 PM slot

So vegas will only be 3 hours long? 9 episode, 6 of which are semis.
