This season:
Usagi Drop: Beautiful first episode
Sacred Seven: Very Generic anime with good animation, fighting, and super sentai esque transformations. Eh, good enough for me.
Last season:
Digimon Xros Wars: I feel like a little kid again. X7 is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

Saw this on twitter and am f*cking STOKED... I love Code Geass... Though, this really shouldn't be a "third season" as much as it is a new series in the Code Geass universe.

Finished part 1-6 of Jojo's!
God that took forever. Still technically 2 parts left, though part 8 only has 3 chapters out so far since it's a new manga.

Believe it or not, I have never watched anime. I think I watched half an episode of Yugio about 10 years ago, but that's the extent. I'd like to try a couple of anime series but I have no idea where to begin at all. If someone could recommend some series that really capture the essence of anime, I'd appreciate it. Since I'm an anime novice, I don't want a series that involves a back story or prior knowledge. Basically, I want something extremely generic. Also, I don't want anything too violent, sexually explicit, or weird. I'd like to try one action series and a comedy series. Thanks for any recommendations

Rider: Gonna try Usagi Drop? Dunno if it's your style though, but it's pretty good.

I'm not sure, I might, I've got like 35 Anime going right now already and 39 subbed shows going period, I don't think I have time to start anything else right now. Also I think reading the list shows how wide of a taste I have with Anime

Thanks for any recommendations If you have Netflix I would recommend Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit. It's a mix of drama and action. Personally it's one of my favorites and more importantly I believe it's a good start to anime for those who have very little prior anime experience.

The first anime I ever watched was Trigun. I don't know what others think about that series, but it's only one season, 26 episodes and still probably my all time favorite anime. It's got a good blend of comedy, action, and scifi. I'd check that out possibly.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I don't have netflix, but I might try the free trial for the Wii and 3DS and watch them that way.

So I was at NYCC this past weekend and I bought some anime. Here's what I bought.
-Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo -The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya -Azumanga Daioh -G Gundam -Cowboy Bebop
Also, apparently the live action Akira movie by WB is back on and has been green lit.
