...with the Americans early domination of Stage 1 and 2. How many do you think they were bitter about 10 spots being given to the USA, and then having so many Americans make it to Stage 3?

maybe they were, but I think they will give less spots to the americans cause of this but I am not sure.

I think the only frustration was with their own performances. They seemed fine with all the clears- not thrilled or elated but pleased.
If 10 Americans came and all failed the first stage, they'd have room to complain. The Americans have MORE than earned their place.

Iketani's face after David cleared stage two was hilarious.

Maybe some will feel that way, but they'll be fools. TBS were once again proving they don't care about the 'spirit of Sasuke' by initiating a competition and putting the pressure on the later Japanese competitors, probably contributing in some way to the general failure. The Americans can't be blamed for their success. If they had performed to this level in 23, it wouldn't have been an issue because there were so many other clears.

David was great this go-round and TBS seems to really like him. I hope he becomes the new "Mista America"
I don't want to take anything away from Orosco with that because he's always been nice and charming, but Campbell's got a better chance to go all the way.

Like obakemono said, it was primarily because of how the Japanese competitors did pretty poorly compared to the Americans. If more Japanese people cleared and got far (i.e. at least to Stage 3), then it would've been less of a problem with them. No offense to those 10 guys, but that's a big reason as to why I liked 23's ANW results compared to 26's ANW2 results---they didn't really stand out as much and didn't seem to "take over" the competition. And, unfortunately, I don't that will help Sasuke's ratings in Japan very much, if not hurt them more. Either way, I was very relieved when Okuyama cleared Stage 2 as the last Japanese competitor standing. That was a very dramatic, suspenseful moment IMO (probably the biggest one in 26 besides Mr. Octopus's run) and I was even happier to see him perform better in Stage 3 than any of the 4 Americans who made it there and just as well as Li. So I guess I could say that invigorated my hope in Sasuke in Japan.

I was wondering if you guys would catch on to that. But since the cat's out of the bag already. A guy there in the audience that spoke Japanese and English was laughing and saying "do you know what they're saying? The Japanese competitors have to defend Midoriyama from the Americans!" I kinda did a face palm when I head that, because we're totally not competing against each other. But I wonder if that did affect any of the Japanese's performances (just hearing that I mean).

I think the reason the Japanese thought that (Maybe, i don't know) is because all the American's were all next to each other. It wasn't like before, where Levi and Nagano were together, or Brian and Lee in 25. It was all the Japanese, and than the bubble of American's.
I blame it on the large amount of Americans.

The America vs Japan thing was annoying. You could tell straight away seeing as you guys were segregated from the others - at least that's what it looked like anyway. Were you told to stay as a group or could you move around and at least be in the all star aura?

Oh no we weren't segregated really, they just asked us to hang out in certain areas at certain times so they could get group shots. But we could walk around and mingle a bit too.

It just felt like we were invading their playground and they looked none too thrilled that they got shown up.
I would assume everyone over there is friendly, but I'm wondering if there were mummers about so many Americans getting to compete even though you guys were pretty successful.

The Japanese also do not like Brent Steffensen. Poor guy got FF'd on all 3 stages. Hope he didn't wait til 4am or 5am (I believe he lives in Colorado) to watch himself get FF'd 3 times. Hope he gets an invite again. Along with David Travis Brian and Paul. I'm sure they'll invite Levi too but I kind of want Shane to get another crack at this...

I'm wondering if 100 people ran the course this time. Not based on anything in particular, I just have the feeling there were more than that. Did the TBS broadcast show any of the American competitors NOT wearing numbers, as in the G4 broadcast?
Yeah, yeah...I know. I didn't wake up until Stage 3 (Lee's run, in fact). I'll watch the first part of Sasuke 26 when it gets to the usual place, and when I figure out how to find the usual place (it's been awhile).

I don't speak Japanese, but everyone was friendly. I think it was just made up by the announcers or producers.

Unfortunately, Venus hit the nail on the head on that one, gotta look all around us for the tabloids, what actually makes "news", and what makes a "hit" TV show. Like him or not, he is an announcer and even announcers have their own thoughts that we'll either agree or disagree with. For me, after seeing the actual 26 broadcast, the audience do seem a bit lackadaisical, but I think that's from the way that, at least for this tournament, the day seemed even longer with their being such a low success rate. *shrugs*
