So Anime Boston is coming up in April and I figured I'd do a panel about Sasuke and its legacy in japan and everywhere else worldwide, plus explaining all about it for the people who aren't too familiar with it. I've only applied my panel so far so I don't know if I'll be officially doing it, but I figured I should talk about specific topics including: All Star Competitors Competitions + Results Sasuke's time frame and dates Obstacles Obstacles that are dangerous Obstacles that didn't last long or were too easy Sasuke's legacy worldwide, including here in America as well as Taiwan (For Li especially ) And finally..... DEMOTIVATORS!! And I'm going to show some runs explaining certain topics, like Dangerous obstacles, and easy obstacles, plus a few other things. If anyone is going to Anime Boston, do you want to help me with this panel? Otherwise, I'd like some ideas as to if there's anything else I should talk about. I'm going to host this panel for an hour if it gets accepted and any help with it would be awesome.

I would probably call it Ninja Warrior. Simply because Nurato nerds are going to think it's about them, and there are alot of NW fans who don't know it's called Sasuke in Japan.
Interesting idea though.

What demotivators were you thinking of? Need me to make some more? Also aside from the Rope Glider, What would you have on dangerous obstacles? ANW2 "Bridge of Blades" shouldn't count as Sasuke as much as ANW2 but I can't think of anything else. Maybe the Reverse Fly but no one actually got hurt on it I would probably call it Ninja Warrior. Simply because Nurato nerds are going to think it's about them, and there are alot of NW fans who don't know it's called Sasuke in Japan. Or he could have both logos at the same time side by side.. Educate casual watchers and try to get people some new fans without knowing it

Yeah I agree with Rider. Draw people in with the ninja warrior logo and the sasuke logo to get naruto fans and explain further. People here should learn that they are technically watching an American broadcast of Sasuke, not an American show called Ninja Warrior.

I titled the panel: "Sasuke/Ninja Warrior and its legacy" So I doubt people will think it's about Naruto because ninja warrior is in the title and why would people think it's about naruto since I put in "its legacy". And I think the first thing I should do for the slideshow is show the Sasuke demotivator with the one that says "SASUKE: No not you, you emo bastard." LOL Does anyone have that demotivator? And I'll give credits to everyone on here plus I'll plug these forums too.

Well I'll talk about the painful moments to watch, like all the whiplash moments from 19's flying chute, Shingo's broken shoulder on the rumbling dice, and I'll show some video clips of very painful looking wipeouts, like Hirowaki Yoshizaki and his pipe slider fail, Bunpei's balance tank wipeout, and that black guy's wipeout on the rope glider in Sasuke 18. If there's any others you can think of, let me know and i'll use it.
Like I said though, the panel hasn't been accepted yet so I won't start building on this until my panel is officially accepted.

You might have a better change at getting a panel if you talk about more than just SASUKE. Remember, it itself is a spin-off.
And does SASUKE actually have a legacy outside of the American re-tooling and its related programs in Japan? Sure you could count VIKING and the Muscle Musical but I don't know if it's some kind of seminal show like Takeshi's Castle or perhaps even the original Kinniku Banzuke. Well, I guess if you count the Korean stuff like Dream Team but we don't know where those shows got their influences from exactly.
And don't just show painful wipeouts: That's a G4 thing. You can show something like the Rope Glider which looks relatively harmless but got five people hurt and actually got the show in the news because of it.
Good luck with the panel though.

Was Sasuke based off of Kinniku Banzuke or more along the lines of Takeshi's Castle? I know both those shows came before Sasuke and I know Viking was also another spin off but I think if I were to talk about Sasuke outside of Japan, I'll mostly talk about what has become of the show here in America with G4. I'm sure some people that come to my panel won't be too familiar with the show so I can at least use some time to explain everything about it. Plus the panel would only be about 55 minutes long.

I don't think you specifically said this yet, but you should consider doing something with the history of the course (i.e. a brief history on how it started and how the course evolved up to what it is today). If you do this though, it should only a few minutes long and relatively general to keep people interested. Also, maybe you could do a Q&A at the end in case some people have further questions regarding the show. BTW, if you're going to use demotivators, you should probably stick to ones that people will get pretty easily even if they're not a big fan of the show. This thread will probably be handy for you either way. I really think this panel is a pretty cool idea that might create some more fans of the show if all goes well. I wish I could go, but it's too far for me to get to from PA Nevertheless I wish the best of luck with it for you wolf!

Sasuke was a challenge in Kinniku Banzuke. When Banzuke got canceled in 2002, Sasuke separated and became its own entity. Takeshi's Castle has no connection with Banzuke or Sasuke (that I know of) aside from it airing on TBS in the 80s and being filmed at Midoriyama like Sasuke.

To summarize everyone, I would start with a brief history of Sasuke- I would point out how it started as a special challenge on Kinnikue Banuke; first course was indoors; 26 tournaments, etc. Next, I would go into the basics of the show: 4 stages; 100 competitors; one fail and you're out; 3 champions.
Definitely highlight the iconic obstacles: Spider Walk, Jump Hang, Warped Wall, Cliff Hanger (a montage of the first version to the current version would be cool and VERY effective at demonstrating the evolution of the course!)
Definitely show the massive wipeouts like the Iranian (?) guy with the sunglasses who nearly died on the Quintuple Steps and also Yamada's 6 or 10 Pipe Slider failure.
Also, highlight the main competitors: 3 champions, all stars, Octopus Guy and his posse, new stars, famous American competitors.
And I know you know this, but make sure the Demotivators and easy to understand and don't require any Sasuke knowledge.
I'm so excited for you! I really hope you get the panel.

There is no direct line between SASUKE and Takeshi's Castle other than the inspiration.
By the way, Sportsman No. 1 came first, then Kinniku Banzuke, then SASUKE, then KUNOICHI.
VIKING was shown first in the states on ESPN (whichever number) before G4 picked up SASUKE, I think.
I'm not a big fan of demotivators (especially SASUKE ones) since they stopped being "demotivational" ages ago (do people even know what they are parodying anymore?) and I think you could spend your time better covering something else.

You should probably have a part on ANW(I suggest strongly that you should) included in the worldwide legacy thing.

It'd be awesome if I could get Levi or Brian or David to come up here but I don't think that'll happen unfortunately.

Sunday is a really awful day for panels honestly.
So try to keep the energy in your panel high.
