awee: Fair enough. The 1st stage tests lower body agility to a greater extent than strength. Though there *was* a series of WW fails by young trial qualifiers in one of the tournaments, though I forget which. Anyway, I think the Balance Tank is done for. 24 showed that it's pretty much useless as an obstacle in Stage 2, especially with the dismount with the rope...I do think we still need a balance obstacle though.

I don't even understand how this is humanly possible. Assuming I'm even understanding it correctly in the first place.

I don't even understand how this is humanly possible. Assuming I'm even understanding it correctly in the first place. What do you expect? It's Shin-Shin-Sasuke. And although it looks crazy difficult (and almost impossible in some ways), some of us probably thought the same about some of the obstacles in Shin-Sasuke. Just something to consider IMO.

Yeah not sure who's back yard is this one. It's not Matsuda's Monster Park .. that's in the city. It's either Moody's (doubtful as well) or one of the other STQ'ers who's name escapes me.. Arashida is the garage one.. hard to remember who's is this one but this particular back yard has been used several times and has been featured in Ryo's blog. Matsuda's Monster Park has a brand new Cliffhanger he's been taking on. I think it's a week old and he's been posting pics up in his board. Seems Yamamoto (Keitaro #5) has been kicking his butt on it Yuuji seems happy he finally got the fire under Matsuda to start training again. So hopefully come Sasuke 25 all 5 will battle it out again to get on the show.. er.. 4 since we know Yuuji has a good shot at making it back (cough no spoilers cough) because of his previous performances and of course leader of the "New Stars". WOW I was so wrong.. The last few posts on the board I check UNCLI stuff made me realize that I was wrong in who's backyard was who's. Seems I was incorrect on that back yard. I wrote to Nagasawa and he confirmed my error.. that IS Tomino's back yard... NOT Matsuda.. also explains alot about the latest posts. He has spoken about #1 for a while but he was ranting about himself and yes he (Keita #4) built it in his backyard. So THIS backyard I was talking about might be Matsuda's after all (the one in the Sasuke 24 video with the guys training in cold water).

.. you don't even know if it's Matsuda's or not.. (now I know for a fact) he's never gone on record as to say if he even has obstacles in his backyard. This is now just assumption who's backyard this is. The only ones we know for sure are Shiratori, Arashida, Nagasawa and now confirmed who owns Monster Park and that's Keita Tomino. The 3 other sites are still up in the air as to who owns them.

OK, I have been watching some older SASUKE comps. -11-17 to be exact. I wonder if they will just modify some of the toughest ones. OK, we know the CH will likley be there with more ledges or st. But how about these..
1. Body Prop- it was tough the way it was, but how about a decline/incline BP? yikes... 2. Curtain Cling- also tough, but how about having 3 separate curtains in a row without a break and no opportunity to just swing. 3. Jumping Bars- putting 5 bars again at varying distances... 4. Lamp Grasper- having an ascending one would be tough where the lamps are at different places... 5. Metal SPin- having a rotating MS would increase difficulty or maybe 2 of them where you must grab on to the chain of #2 from #1... ..I don't know just my thoughts. We may see totally new obstacles as well.

Actually that wouldn't work to well as a last obstacle, unless they got a good enough fabric.
The thing is, the cloth bunches up and it's really hard to grip onto, plus it's not like a pipe slider at all.
It doesn't make it hard grip wise, it makes it hard because the obstacle can malfunction easily.
I know this because I was going to put that same exact obstacle in the mock Sasuke that I film at my house, but it just didn't work out well.
Not that they couldn't figure out a way to make it work though, I'm sure they could figure out something and it IS really hard on the grip.

If you're talking about my idea, then I still think it would work. I've been using the same one towel for two weeks now and it hasn't been washed or anything and I don't have any problems holding onto it. Since it would be a towel, it's thick so it's easier to hold onto when it's bunched up like in my picture because it makes a nice cushion in your hand, whether I wrap my hand around the entire bunch or hold just half of each side. I don't see much to malfunction. Maybe they could just put a new towel up for each person that gets there.
Did you try hanging a towel off two parallel rails for your mock Sasuke? That would look pretty cool in action.

I hate to resurrect this month-old thread, but I wanted to explain that my Pipe Jump obstacle doesn't have the Pipe Slider track going uphill. It only appears that way so that the picture would be easier to understand. I guess that this sort of backfired a little.

I have an idea for the Salmon Ladder that's been floating around for a while. What if they put it at a slant. Right now, it's at 15degrees, or 105degrees, or 15 out from the regular SL, whatever. I could always increase the angle and distances, of course. Maybe 30 or 45 degrees would look scarier. The idea is that if you slip, whether you miss both sides completely or if you only get one side up, your chance at recovery would be slimmer. I don't know if this new SL would be harder or the same, but I'd certainly like to try it. Now that I look at it, I probably should've gone with something more than 15. But you get the idea.

IMO, it would be easier to get on the next rung (especially using the swing-and-up technique), but the chances of failing would raise a lot, since even if you miss only one notch you're done, unless you manage to stuck the bar on it with the stopper. Which is pretty unlikely.

I know that we've talked about updated versions of old obstacles ad nauseum on here, but I made a few sketches of stage 2 or 3 obstacles that I'd like to see IF old obstacles are included.
1. Ascending Lamp Grasper (only 1 row of lamps) 2. Body Prop 2 (curved with asc/dec parts) 3. Swinging Trapeze (4 or 5 trapeze bars where the competitor must swing to get to the next bar and grab it) 4. Double Metal Spin (2 consecutive metal spin obstacles that are continuously rotating) 5. Super-CH (1 is like shin-Ch but has 2 more ledges and the other has 3 horizontal ledges, then 3 upward ones, and then 3 more horizontal ledges- should be CH Maze)
Just my 2 cents anways....I'd still prefer new obstacles

For the lamp grasper maybe they should make it so you have to jump from two lamps to the 2 next lamps. Or maybe make the lamps hot so you can only stay on each lamp for a max of 2 seconds.

I would like it if they just took one lamp out of the middle of the globe grasper. That way, people can either jump, or reach far to grasp the next globe.

Yeah, there are many ways to make the globe grasp really hard.

Not to be mean but that's a horrible idea. Not only are burns a risk, but it adds a "Fear Factor" style element that is completely inappropriate for Sasuke.

How about a Globe Grasp in which you have to go up and then down, i.e. like the Devil Steps? That would be pretty interesting IMO! ;D EDIT: Here's a picture of what I mean.
