As David said, more footage in the end to see.
Maybe the video submissions are for a spot in the semifinals or (more likely) the finals? And open tryouts are for... open tryouts.
With all this, the final better be challenging, to let the video submitters showcase their stuff. Maybe they might take more than 10 from the video submissions for the finals and they could end up flooding or outperforming the open tryouts and the top 10 could end up with just people from the submissions anyway. That would be something.
Perhaps that could show that you have a better shot if you actually train for Sasuke instead of thinking you can just come knowing nothing about the show, tryout and get on like any other game show. But then again, this could either scare people away from future competitions, or make people more dedicated and take it more seriously.
Of course we have no idea what G4 wants to do. Maybe G4 just wants to spam it with 10 to get a result at least like Sasuke 20.

For those above 18 but under 21, here's the response from G4.
"Chris -- Unfortunately, anyone running the course must be at least 21 years old."
So, I hope that answers everyone's question.

STOP THE PRESSES!
From Wikipedia (as unreliable as it is):
Whether or not that be true, I have bad news for those of you who plan on submitting videos. From G4's site:
Video entry =/= go to Japan but Video entry = go to LA for a chance to go to Japan

The ANW wiki entry is uncited, and different to what we've been hearing so far, so I wouldn't pay much attention to it as yet. It seems to me that the ANW show is going to be footage of the trials arranged like an episode of Ninja Warrior. Maybe those 'four stages' that were being referred to before are included within the semi final and final that are mentioned. Hopefully they'll have stages themed on Sasuke rather than just the Ninja Killer course repeatedly.
Also, commiserations to those not from LA(edit:Cali, even), because it doesn't seem like any fares are going to be paid to the trials.
One good thing is that there probably won't be as much of a limited selection process from the video entries as there would be if it was for direct qualification, so they're likely to pick more people for the trials if they have a decent video.

Old news.
BTW, the American Ninja Warrior thing makes sense actually. There is NO WAY that Monster 9 will allow 10+ people (if Kevin's not included in the 10) make them run the course.
Remember what I said about beating all 4 stages in the shortest time in the posts before? Which is not entirely related to the actual SASUKE? HELLO?
Yea, first talking behind my back, now ignoring me. Way to go.

I just found another site crediting information authentic to this, however I also have a new phone number for people who are interested in going. pilgrim-films.com/casting/index.htmlI sent mail to AmericanNinjaWarrior@gmail.com (And G4tv... but they haven't responded yet...) and the Gmail replyed from a guy named Jeff from www.Pilgrim-Films.com. Turns out they are the people running the series, and have been in charge of other series, such as American Chopper and Dirty Jobs! This is the real deal folks! Anyway, here's what I sent them: ------------------------------- Hello, my name is Christopher Christensen. I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and I have some questions about the competition in California. I sent this email to both Americanninjawarrior@gmail.com as well as Webmaster@g4tv.com. Please respond A.S.A.P. so I can ensure cheap tickets. The question are as follows:
1) Do the 10 selected finalists have to pay for their own transportation to the event?
2) Will the finalists be able to attend all four days? Also, will non-finalists be able to view the full competition all four days as well?
3)Is there any other information I should know if I fly out to California to attend - finalist or not, after sending in my application video to both you and pilgrim-films.com so that I can make the best possible use of the four days I will have to visit California?
Thank you very much for your response, as well as holding such an epic event!
Sincerely, Christopher Christensen------------------------------- Here's how Jeff responded ------------------------------- Chris -- Anyone who attends the tryouts in Los Angeles will need to cover his travel fees. The first two days consist of general tryouts. The third day is for those who make it to the semi-finals. On day four, 10 finalists are selected.
The 10 finalists will not need to pay for travel to Japan.
I'm attaching an application for you to fill out and send back, if you are interested. Also attached is our flyer - feel free to pass it along to anyone who is interested.
If you have additional questions, please call me at: 818-728-8642

Whatever.
Like they said on the page, Video submission on G4 page is only to get a guaranteed spot on the tryouts.
Does anyone have the old ANW page screen capped where the guy's face was bigger? I remember something about 'time trials' on 'SASUKE'...

Sounds like its going to be interesting. I sure hope I'm able to see both the TBS broadcast and the G4 broadcast. They'll probably be more divergent than ever! This by far is my biggest problem. With that amount of people (if the 10 to Japan directly to Sasuke 23 is true) the G4 broadcast is going to comprise of only 11 people (+Kevin) with little to no resemblance to the real Sasuke broadcast. That bothers me considering that THIS is the footage that will shipped around the world as the representation of Sasuke 23. Man I'm pissed and it hasn't even happened yet.. /sigh

I remember something about 'time trials' on 'SASUKE'... Correction. You can still get a guaranteed tryouts by sending it through this other company, but being one of the Finalists means you will get some training alongside a better tryout, seeing as how you might be able to watch others try-out first, getting a feel for obstacles, in addition to possibly being able to try the obstacles before your official run. G4 still has a better 'prize', but a Tryout is a Tryout.

I'm still worried that somebody will get shafted, due to the conflict between the video submissions and the tryouts. Seems somebody didn't think that through...
Here's what I'd like to see: the 10 American trials finalists are flown to Japan to compete against Japanase trial hopefuls in a sort-of Final Trial, with the best XX (pick a number) going on to Sasuke 23. That'd make an awesome show as a run-up to the NW broadcast of Sasuke 23, without screwing with the TBS broadcast too much.
Not saying that's what'll happen, and it would never have happened on G4's dime, but it sure sounds like this other company has some deep pockets. I'm good at dreaming up stuff, huh?

If Kevin is going I'm thinking he'll just be there to cover the After Show stuff and the Before things Not actually Run the course if he's going... idk?

So let me try to figure something out. The people heading to Japan are:
-Kevin -10 ANC entrants -Levi -A producer -A translator -1 or more cameramen (who could be the prod or translator, but doubtful) -An EMT or equivalent (optional, but preferred; still could be one of the above) -Any number of former ANC winners (includes 0).
What's the smallest type of aircraft that can go transpacific, because there may be a private one involved.

So, Pilgrim Films is putting this shindig together with G4 getting the footage to splice together a Ninja Warrior 23??
If that's the case then it makes sense for G4 to not be specific on entry details to ANC5 if they were working out the kinks with a different production house.
The Good: If more people are getting an opportunity to go to Japan to compete on the course then you should all give yourselves a pat on the back for helping to drive up the popularity of Sasuke/Ninja Warrior. Someone in Japan thinks they can make some money and strong ratings by allowing a large bunch of us over. (Personally, I won't be able to tryout for this one, so I hope unclesam98 gets his opportunity. Someone from this forum needs to rep it.)
The Bad: Like Arsenette said, Ninja Warrior 23 is going to focus on the Americans and All-Stars. It will be interesting to see how this affects other international markets or if they were even taken into consideration by M9 with this situation. Not to mention we might lose out on seeing some full runs by our favorite fringe competitors.
The Ugly: There's a possibility we'll be seeing American characters/reality wannabes run the Sasuke course as opposed to the die-hard fan or athlete. Sasuke already has joke contestants. They don't need more from across the pond. That's what I Survived A Japanese Game Show is for.

Actually the crew is a hell of a lot bigger than that They bring their own people and just go on commercial airlines And they are not counted as the 10 they are announcing are going. David C. also said Levi "MIGHT" be in the ANW cattle herding.. but he wasn't sure. If so.. this might be interesting if he gets beat out by other people.. then again. it's a SHOW so I figure there's going to be some pull as to who gets to go to Japan since this is NOT an actual qualifier.
