I enjoyed watching the National Ninja league finals more than any other ninja show !
I didn't watch it live but watched it later. The stream was awesome. The quality of the coverage with multiple cameras (which is required) and great commentary. Previous events with 1 or 2 cameras have been not very watchable.
Quantum leap forward. i even enjoyed Ryan Stratos going through the rules on each obstacle, very entertaining
No fluff pieces, fast moving , over 250 competitors, it was all ninja, all the time, compared with 20 percent ninja we get on ANW
I would have thrown a bone and let the top 3 or 4 women's finishes of Stage 1 tackle stage 2 whether they finished stage 1 or not
I felt the time limits and obstacle difficulty was close to perfect
here is what i would do for next season.
You have the season, qualifying events etc , people can get to the finals that way with the usual qualifying points system.
You have a qualifying event just before the finals for international competitors etc
You have a certain number of wildcards/ invitations
BUT you also have provision for anyone (i mean anyone) to come off the street and pay $1000 on the day and run in the finals (this includes people who tried to qualify other ways and failed). That extra money goes straight into the prize fund. you have 20 people do this, that's 20 grand. Sean McColl, Tim Sheriff, Jesse Leflair etc want to come in and pay a grand to compete, let them

Stage 2 was a joke. no hard obstacles. if 20 top international ninja's ran it, 18 would get through

Just finished this second season, took me a while to watch, wasn't exactly screaming out for me to watch it
I like some of the things they are trying to achieve. The international factor is cool and shows there is talent from all corners of the globe. Some of the Chinese and French athletes would be well in ANW.
Like ANW, the course is too climber centric. basically a team of elite climbers is going to do better than most other sporting backgrounds
There is too much put into the look of the course but it's too big and cumbersome to be versatile. There should have been huge change ups in the course between the regular rounds and the final.
All of the female commentators from all countries were very sexy, huge thumbs up
I would still love to see an athletic competition which is part Ninja Warrior style, part Crossfit Games, part Tough Mudder and part something really new

Interesting guys
The athletes have more power than they realise. If the top 20 athletes decided not to compete, it would be hard for NBC to explain on the air even though there would be many willing replacements

Which ANW athletes are getting paid by NBC ?
I heard Kacy had a million dollar contract which ended, which is why she went to WWE
My guess on who is getting paid and who is not (based on how much promotion and airtime they get)
NOT GETTING PAID David Campbell Travis Rosen Flip Chris and Brian Wilczewski Brian Arnold Noah (Dr guy) Paul Kasemir Ryan Stratis Ian Dory
GETTING PAID
Daniel Gil Kevin Bull Kacy Jessie Graf Drew Dreshcel Megan martin Lance Pekus Joe Moravsky Najee Richardson J.J. Woods
NOT SURE Brett Steffensen Josh Levin Nicholas Coolridge Jon Alexis Jr. Lorin Ball Thomas Stillings

The commentators said that one of the test athletes completed the insane Stage 2 of Australian ninja warrior (the grand final), where they had to do 5 obstacles in 65 seconds.
Anyone know who this test athlete who did this was ?
Must of been one of the superstars from American ninja warrior ?

Overall this college edition was ok but not great
With a whole new load of competitors we don't know, there wasn't really any investment and with them all wearing generic outfits it all became a bit of a blur, it's not like the course was that exciting.
I guess the idea was to find a few new stars. The MIT guy with glasses was impressive and deserves a run on ANW proper and Taylor Armann deserves a run just because of her hotness (and she's quite good).

i did get a chuckle out of one of the japanese guys struggling on pushing the trains on Stage 1 where little Kacy did it quite easily
I actually do like that obstacle, it definitely takes something out of the legs for the warped wall. Wall is also harder with less run up but again kacy was impressive

Just finished watching
Heartbreaking seeing Nagano just miss the buzzer
At one point i thought some competitors would be allowed to re-run because of the moisture issue
I like Drew, but why does he come each year ? not fair on the others
Without the metal spin and unstable bridge, stage 2 was a waste of time
Stage 3 was cool, Drew was great

Really quite exciting to watch but they need to revamp the format
All of the teams are chosen to be quite close, there is NO advantage of winning in the first round and no penalty for losing
Win or lose, your in a semi final ! it's stupid
And with the current format, one stud athlete w]ith two duds can win every round and it's supposed to be a team competition. They can win the 2 pointer and the tiebreaker. just make each leg one point. OR if one team has 2 points, the team with no points starts 7 seconds behind and if they win with that handicap then they force a tiebreaker
Flips team really fell victim to this format

The warped wall needs to be made a bit taller, it's become too easy with even women killing it.

It's gotta to the stage where it is cringeworthy watching Team Japan, i feel so sorry for them
The fact is in just about all sports today, a great big man will beat a great little man. Team Japan just lacks size.
A good analogy is Muay Thai. Thais invented the sport and dominated for decades because they had the skill and knowledge advantage. Then along came the dutch who once they acquired the necessary skills and knowledge started beating the thai's regularly because there were bigger and stronger.
Fact is the hardcore ANW group in the USA take ninja competitions more seriously now than anywhere in the world. Issac winning a million is just going to help attract even more great athletes
so will we see Team Japan again ? or is that it ?

Yeah it is a TV show and as much as we are bagging NBC for their handling of the situation and as much as i personally bag them for wasting a total of maybe 12-15 minutes airtime on the one guy's backstory (the guy whose relatives died) when they could have showed more runs, without NBC, ninja warrior in the US would have died a death

I consider both Geoff and Issac the first American Ninja Warriors which is why i strongly feel they both need to be rewarded. Splitting the prize money really was the right way to go
The fact Geoff technically did it first really was because issac chose to go second
Issac does come accross like a cocky sob, but that can also be the media pressure and how they spin things
As others have said, NBC still has time to do right by Geoff and let's hope they do the right thing

Geoff, the way you conducted yourself, genuinely congratulated Issac and showed no sign of disappointment yourself is a credit to you and your family.
For next year i think NBC might try to make the stages a bit less climber centric. There definitely needs to be some obstacles which test other attributes than upper body strength to weight ratio.

Well said Arsenette a million dollars for someone like issac (who by all accounts lives very humbly) is a never has to work again type amount NBC doesn;t need to give Geoff a million, just 150-200K, enough to make a signficant benefit to Geoff's life and an amount which NBC won't miss at all NBC would get huge props from fans, competitors and social media alike for doing such a thing.
