NJ is popping up like a Christmas tree with tornados.. Delaware tornados are getting often and all over the place inland.. this is so unusual. We are okay so far but geez.. this is nuts!
Delaware river is going to crest at 15 FEET above floodstage.. this hasn't happened since the 1800's..
I can't imagine the Hudson rising 15 feet.. I wonder what their are going to crest at? Omg.. if they get tornados in the city this is not going to be funny..
First of the Philly Tornado's.. oh boy.

I'm a craven coward. I think I'll shut 'er down now, and go pull the covers over my head. I'd much prefer to experience the hurricane by daylight. Lights are flickering. I can hear the wind howling, even over the white noise of the box fan. Nighty-night. Hunker down, all you East Coasters.

Center is supposed to get here in another 3-4 hours..

We keep getting lulls which is nice We are about 2-3 hours away from the eye though but it's nice to have just normal showers rather than OMFG rain with wind. Tornado warnings seemed to have calmed down. Flood reports are pouring in.. no pun intended. Update: Eye past us to the east hitting NJ coast a few minutes ago. Still raining but not crazy rain. We got lucky where I am and I don't see any damage around me. Never lost power. Watching news and I know I"m lucky since others near the waterways are still getting flooding inside their houses. Getting some sleep finally but so far we lucked out in our neck of the woods

It acted like a Noreaster. People inland got hammered more than the coast so yes it oculd have been worse but it's still bad now. I think a lot of the deaths happening are because people think this is over. Like that idiot woman in NJ that left her house thinking all was well.. drove into a lake in her intersection and called 911 but the cops couldn't find her and eventually found her body in the car a few hours later. Places inland where they don't even sell Flood insurance because they don't ever flood are still underwater and so authorities are still looking for them on boats.. this isn't over. Coast got lucky.. but it's still bad considering rivers haven't crested yet. And for those who don't understand wtf a crest is: serc.carleton.edu/quantskills/methods/quantlit/floods.html

Well...s**t. I live about an hour north of Philly (suburban township near Allentown) and it looks like this is going to be the worst storm that I've seen up to now in my life, if ever. Hopefully there's not horribly bad flooding though, but after hearing about 1972's Hurricane Agnes from my parents I'm very skeptical about this. I really hope everyone affected by this storm makes it through OK. On the plus side, if there's a hurricane over the weekend I might not have classes on Monday. Yay? Here's an update in your area: www.allentownpa.gov/Home/tabid/36/ctl/Detail/mid/1165/xmid/1601/xmfid/8/Default.aspxWater restriction for you for 2 days. You might know this already though.

JP: What's wrong with being upset about BOTH of those things? Or all of those things? It's unfair to tell people to not worry, especially when a lot of members of this forum are over on the east coast, or have family/friends there.
Of course I was sad about the Tsunami, but obviously they're different scale. You don't don't see the entire world trying to get donations to send to the east coast now do you? Show some remorse over those that died, and if you refuse then don't have double standards.

Let's try to keep this more of an informative/news thread than a political debate if we can.
Thanks.

I'm sending this from my phone. We lost power early this morning and we still don't have it back. A huge double tree in my neighbor's yard fell over into the street and into the other house next to him. Thankfully the only damage done were to the fences. We only got about 4 inches of rain but it was very windy today.

What a difference a day makes. You'd never know anything happened in my neighborhood. Still keeping everyone without power or who sustained damage in my thoughts. I'm also thankful for all the tree-trimming guys and utility workers...they won't be getting much rest for awhile.

I had a great example, I felt that I had good arguments, but Sheep or Scnoi probably mistook that for trolling, or didn't want a somewhat civilized argument going on, and decided to delete it, so I don't feel like arguing if my posts will be deleted for honestly no good reason.
