Just out of curiosity, and sorry if it brings too much into the mix or goes off topic, but didn't something similar happen to Obata Satoshi or something (that meant he wasn't invited back to Sasuke 36 and later tournaments.)

It's been a while since I've done anything but lurk around here, but I feel the need to chime in on this one.
I've never really idolized celebrities, so when other incidents have happened, it was easy to detach from them. This one hurts on a personal level and, like everyone else, my heart goes out to his family and the victim.
Can you imagine what's going through Drew's head right now? He spent years and years pushing himself to the limit to achieve this goal and finally accomplished it. He was almost definitely the best in the world, had a million dollars in his pocket, a new baby, and was primed to be the poster boy of ANW for years. Now, he's ruined ALL of it, and has nobody to blame but himself. How much would you beat yourself up over that, and rightfully so?
That being said, I really hope ANW doesn't modify old episodes to remove him, or stop airing them altogether. I do like the idea of including a splash page or something to offset it with information on sexual assault.
I've got a retired podcast out there with hundreds of hours that is littered with praise for Drew myself. I think I'm going to leave them as-is, but it is tempting to start weeding things out or pulling whole episodes. Sending out a brief episode also crossed our minds, but I don't know that we can offer much more to the conversation. It's just sad and disappointing.
Yay 2020. One more thing.

Hey Rich I was thinking about you when the news broke. Totally agree with being against retconning history. I left all of my stuff up even though for the record everyone knew he rubbed me the wrong way. That said though you are right. He did it to himself. Problem is, it wasn't a sudden thing. This was him all of along but now people get to see it for themselves. Television is a powerful tool. They make horrible people into icons if put in the correct light. Reminds me of Sasuke's Yamada where people to this day think he's a hero of some sort and he's a horrible human being. Drew has always rubbed me the wrong way but I chalked it up to millenial cockiness. I remember all the stuff in Japan that happened between us and I just shake my head. We weren't enemies but we weren't friends either. Still though, erasing history doesn't help anyone in the long run. Then you get the problem of "oh what happened to so and so" and everyone hushes their voice like they are trying to avoid saying Voldemort or something and the pattern of abuse continues. Everyone has to learn something from this. Those who do this thinking it's right, those who didn't see it because they may be too trusting or just have a genuinely good heart (I confess I am hardly surprised about human nature but again.. I'm jaded as I mentioned before), or those who believe what television creates for them. This SHOULD be a teaching moment but to be honest I don't expect NBC to be the arbiters of truth. They haven't in the past, it would be shock if they did now. I'd love to be wrong. As for doing a video, I was thinking of doing one myself but I'm so out of the community as a whole that it doesn't feel right. That's why I've only stayed on SMF (where I never left) and occasionally on reddit.

I don't think he was a pedo, at least I hope not. But he did have a history of abusing women that got out and TBS was like "nope" and he was gone in a flash. Also looks like Brent posted a retirement vid, guess the backlash of his victim shaming was the last straw. And damn watched the whole vid. He went from whining to outright shaming the other ninjas. http://instagr.am/p/CD_uAwhpjA7

I've listened to a few podcasts over the years where a guest or subject turned out to be charged with sexual assault. More recently, the Larry Nassar scandal in gymnastics. I remember the podcast just put a note/disclaimer in the episode description of the particular episode where Nassar was featured to provide an update and also a link to additional resources for victims. They also released a new episodes to address the issue. I thought that was an effective response instead of completely removing the episode altogether.

He's a nasty person and I'm happy to support those who spoke up against his offensive comments. Glad I don't have to watch him on the course again.

And what a surprise he timed out for doing his showing off. I would say I want to feel bad for him but he did it to himself. Next to him victim shaming and pushing his conspiracy I think the ninjas who have received more attention then him decided to speak up and get him blacklisted from the show. I wouldn't be surprise if they blacklist him for National Ninja League.

I don't know. He's controversial and I completely disagree with his victim view, but I'm not sure about competitors trying to throw a former friend out of the community TBH.

If Brent (or Drew) had shown their true colors from the start, they would have never been part of the community to begin with.

Brent said some stupid stuff numerous times. At the end of the day it's words. What Drew did was horrible. He abused his position as a coach to engage in sexual activity with a child. Brent was a former last man standing, a former member of Team USA, and an American representative to compete in Japan. Brent has said a lot of stupid things. There's no question there. But for someone who didn't do anything illegal, he should have had the opportunity to retire with one last go. He's been on a decline in recent years anyways.

What I was saying, is that I believe that if Brent had made it clear how much of an a** he really is from the get-go, no one (including NBC) would have wanted anything to do with him. As far as Drew goes, if everyone knew that he was an (alleged) pedo, he would have never been allowed in the community (one that is full of impressionable children). The opinions Brent shares are potentially dangerous, especially if children start seeing the s*** he spews. That's the last I'll say on Brent in this thread.

Not doing anything illegal is a very low bar and is the absolute bare minimum requirement for a human being, let alone being on the show. At the end of the day, ANW is a television show, a brand and a business. If ANW continues to associate themselves with Brent, knowing that he is pushing racist, victim shaming and offensive content, it affects the brand negatively and may cause ANW to lose sponsors and viewers. Brent chose to go down this path and thus, he should accept the response and consequences of his actions. ANW has no obligation to give Brent an extravagant retirement party.

I think it's pretty low that some ninjas requested he be banned (if that is the actual case) and that'll change my views on them accordingly.

Brent is a Qanon believer and in a position where kids look up to him so he is very dangerous. Why would you want a complete idiot to be part of the community? There are other dangerous and objectively DUMB opinions he spews legal or not he should not be entertained or respected. It is the communities right as a whole to not stand for the hate and contempt he spews.

He had some controversial comments on the Black Lives Matter movement awhile back on Instagram, which sparked some backlash from other ninjas at the time. His recent posts on BLM appear to be more mild (relatively speaking) although he did recently post content debunking systemic racism. His views on race are less problematic than his posts on COVID-19 s as it contributes to the spread of misinformation and conspiracy theories. His posts were flagged by Instagram fact-checkers. No idea if ninjas requested Brent to be banned. However, I would be shocked if other ninjas needed to do anything. Brent posted these contents in a public space for everyone including NBC to see. NBC likely came to their own conclusion to not invite Brent back for another season. That was his own undoing.

Found this today: So at least Australia is doing something different when it comes to Drew. Ya'll know that I don't watch ANW so has the new season started yet?
