Ah September 7. For some reason I thought it passed already. I assume reruns or something.

I don't see NBC doing this in particular only because Drew is their reigning champion. In Australia this is not about the Americans but about Australia so it was interesting to see how they did it. There are several articles out in each of the newspapers' websites each with their own details of why the notification was given before it started. That said, for me, that's not enough for the American broadcast. We still have a couple weeks until we know for sure how they will handle it.

In the meantime a recap on Drew specifically. The records being sealed while they negotiate a plea bargain. A plea is definitely being worked on. This process can take weeks to months sometimes. All we know now is the court filing and the fact he is still in jail having been denied bail. He's been moved from Florida to Federal custody in New Jersey and will be until the resolution of this case. He is going to Federal jail definitely but how long is what is being negotiated. We also don't know about the state/local case that was just filed in New Jersey.

I wasn’t planning on saying anything at first, but this has been biting at me.
I’m not going to go too much into detail, but I will say that I have been through situations of abuse involving an adult. As a result, I am very very passionate about keeping children safe.
There are so many words to describe what Drew has done (honestly none of them really capture the anger that burns within me).
Now let me give some hypotheticals:
It is the ADULT’S RESPONSIBILITY to make sure the child is safe. This should be a non-negotiable thing and i’m really not sure why people are trying to do so.
It DOES NOT MATTER if a minor willingly engages in sexual activity. People aged 14-15 are not fully developed mentally, and they fail to understand the true weight of consent. I refuse to speak on a young woman’s behalf, being that I am male. But I know that young men often think about nothing other than sex. My point here is that an adolescent’s mind can be so clouded by the desire to participate in sexual activity that they don’t grasp the consequences of sex, or in this case, sex with a person of whom you admired.
I’m not super knowledgeable about laws in the U.S., but I wanna say this is why there is a minimum age of consent. I don’t have a degree in law, (im a senior in HS) and I haven’t really studied the laws as much as I would’ve liked.
But that’s my two cents. It’s appalling to see people blaming a 14/15 year old girl for BEING A TEENAGER. My thoughts go out to her and her family. And my thoughts go out to any victim of abuse.

I know that i am joining this discussion preety late so maby all the things I'm about to say were already said. At first, for me it was devestating to hear those news, but i really hope that Drew will get what he deserves. But more importantly i hope that NBC won't just ignore that case and remove Drew. I hope that they will actively take the victim's side by raising awareness and even funding organizations that supports women who gets to those situations. Because not only that in 2020 man shouldn't treat women like objects, and woman should not be terrified to stand up and speak, i think that big organizations (like NBC) MUST use their influence to support what's right, we all know that this is true. And for me, i know that if they wont take clear side and make strong actions, i won't watch this show again. Values are more worthy than intertaiment.

Thanks! I was rusty as all hell. Seems TBS left this one alone.

As for what NBC will do next I believe the All-Star special is coming up? That should give you guys a good indication if they are going to ignore this entirely. Ya'll will have to update me since I don't watch the show anyway.

Just my two cents, I am so sorry to hear your experience with abuse as I never experienced it before and I cannot imagine myself being placed under this situation.

In regards about SASUKE 32, I actually imagine myself trying to seek redress for you against a TBS official for this unfair encounter for taking a rap for an action you are not accounted for. I would probably give that individual a tight slap if I have to.

Sorry for being too emotional here. As for anyone suffering any type of abuse, call for help. No one can help you if you do not want to seek help yourself, if you think you are ready, go for it.

No worries. The original video was the same except for the inserts at the bottom left. I showed Drew on the Cliffhanger in Sasuke (small amount of it) and they took the entire video and blocked every country. Usually I'm given an option to contest it but it wasn't there. Obviously I'm not monetized since I'm well under 1000 subscribers so it wasn't a monetization issue either. And more importantly it was a manual review which means the "algorithm" didn't have any issues with it because it fit within the guidelines of fair use and the 5 seconds rule of clips. TBS just hates me and they have been letting me know for years. This time I didn't use even a second of their footage and flooded the inserts with my own videos or videos (like the Australia one) that was available from the Perth newspaper online or short clips from G4 of a show they have no jurisdiction (Jump City Seattle). My monologue is completely unchanged. That's why the video was replaced quickly since all I had to do was swap out the visuals in the bottom left corner.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm sorta used to TBS by now and I have spoken to them in person in Japan.. twice. So nothing is going to change. They just don't like I say ANYTHING negative or highlight any of their faults. Japan is different and they don't respect fair use in any facet calling it an American law. So when it comes to footage I just easily got rid of it. Now, if they went after me for my words I'd fight them in court any day of the week. And they know that. Which is why I'm confident while they are pissed off at me, they legally can't shut me up. Besides. Drew's problem is now their problem as they have to figure out international distribution rights on his image on their show for 130+ countries. I'm just passing popcorn on that. They haven't even publicly mentioned anything even though it's their IP. They might be upset with NBC for saying something and Australia being the first to edit him out. I don't care enough to worry about it at this point (Japan I mean). They are sleeping in the bed they made.

As for abuse victims. Absolutely they need to reach out to law enforcement. I was too young to understand my rights when I was a kid and back then the laws were not on my side anyway. Even when I was 20 years old and was almost murdered by my first boyfriend there were no stalking laws. I had to move out of state, drop out of school and quit my job. Things are different now thankfully.

They did NOT do Power Tower which I will assume is because he was supposed to be a part of it. They didn't mention him at all.

They didn't show Drew, didn't mention him at all. (The only time you can see him is if you look super closely in one specific clip during a digested run, it was more than likely an accident because I didn't notice until I spent a few minutes looking super closely to see if they accidentally left him in.) Also they completely cut out the power tower (top 2 from qualifying compete on it), so I'm assuming he competed in that.

Yes, on the Season 12 thread it was revealed Jody Avila raced Drew on the Power Tower. Jody won, but of course this was cut from the broadcast.

Thank you! It's a shame they missed the obvious opportunity to teach a lesson. I didn't expect much from NBC so I'm not shocked. Just disappointed.

I've been digging deep into this case the last few weeks, even though there hasn't been any new updates. However what I did find is that if you look up "UNITED STATES V. ANDREW DRECHSEL", you can find a website, "courtlistener.com" which has all the up to date filings on his case.

This link shows the most recent filing on his case that was done yesterday. It says "Release from custody" but that you need to buy the documents on a separate website, PACER, which you also need to make an account for  (and costs $0.10 per page you view). After making an account, I looked up the recent filing on PACER, and it seems like Drew is trying to motion to the District of New Jersey with his lawyer for a release from custody due to COVID-19 as of yesterday.
