Just saw the first episode. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but by the end of it I'm pleasantly surprised. Can't wait to see some Sasuke competitors on the show if there are any.

They should've invited British competitors... I'm sure they will get to UK at some point. They take 6 countries for a season. Then switch out. They haven't announced which countries are invited to apply for Season 3 yet.

I've only watched Episode 1 so far, but so far (aside from the awkward commentary ) I'm liking it. I'm excited to see more episodes, and see how Kinnikun and Yuuji do!

I'm pretty sure Brandon Douglass from ANW is on episode 7.

I've only seen the first 4 episodes but I appreciate how it's edited. You don't waste 10 minutes rehashing crap you already saw. They don't even redo rules. Just straight up binge watch. It's so refreshing not having my time wasted with useless filler.

It's so refreshing not having my time wasted with useless filler. So I've finished the show, and I agree, the editing was actually very very good and watchable, but there is one thing that actually confuses me greatly: the course itself and how it was shown. NOT spoilers: So the first couple episodes we had an 80 point Level 1, okay Then in "The Beast evolves", they swapped out Mother Tongue and Brain Matter for Throat Erosion, turning it into a 60 point course. cool But then in future episodes, they also had a course with all 3 of these (90 points) and none of these (50 points). They never really explained why they did this and it is a bit confusing to me. Did they change the length based on competitors to adjust for skill? Was it random? They edited the show clearly enough to suggest they didn't just edit them out because everyone passed, and since we saw everyone fail it wouldn't have adjusted the placements at all I imagine. I'm just not sure the motivation in fluctuating from 4 to 7 obstacles. They also did this by having like 1 or 2 episodes have the competitors start after spinal ascent in Level 2. Also, there were an obstacle after the Mag Wall that was clearly shown many times, but was never included in the course. Season 2 prep? decoration?

Yep, I also had two obstacle related questions. Would love to know what was up with the one obstacle after the mag wall.
Did they also tweak Level 3's "white pipes" (after the speed prism strike thing) after the first episode so they sink MUCH faster? No one had an issue with it in the first episode, and then suddenly top tier athletes are getting dunked in water.

It looked like there was definitely an obstacle over the old mud pit from wipeout during some of the course previews and in the get hyped trailer two pages ago (under the beast's first leg), even looked like there was water in it, wonder if that's for season 2 as well?

Forgot to post this last week, but Terry Crews was also on the Today Show. It's cool that he could promote a competing obstacle course series on two different NBC shows.

I'm on episode 5 and have been wondering the same thing about the course design.
A few other impressions that are keeping the show from being overly compelling to me. 1) As mentioned by others the commenters are horrible. The USA chanting is annoying, but can be heard from other country's booths as well. 2) Some of these obstacles seem designed specifically to injure the competitors (the hanging tinker toys after face plant). 3) Being able to fall and continue (Spinal Ascent, Level 4) makes it somewhat difficult to determine a disqualifying event for a competitors.

Finished it in a day. Was great. Anyway in reply to your thoughts they probably either wanted to make it different (which, yeah if you can't change obstacles it's fine with me to rotate them) or because they were shown out of order. If someone wanted they could probably figure out the order in which the episodes were filmed and then it might make more sense. Eg the first one filmed didn't have any opening obstacles ready but by the end they had three. I'm guessing all the chain Faceplant episodes were filmed first so that could help come up with the official film order. The obstacles were original which is impressive after all these years. Yes I'm the first to say it needs much more variety but they were obviously trying! Set looks great and disagree that the hosts were bad. I laughed a lot at what they said!

Crews and Thompson had some forced banter that was cringey, but I loved when they bounced off the Brazilian commentors or others.
Despite the format favoring raw competition, there's still a ton of comradery.

I'm up to episode 8 now, and I think it sounds like a lot of you all have the same complaints I do about the show. Overall, I'm liking it so far.
But the commentary chanting is a big cringey to me.
The obstacle changing is fine, but I feel like they should have th same amount of obstacles with the same amount of points. I was so confused by the first stage at times. Sometimes the max would be like 40-50 pts while other times it would be up at 70-80 pts.
And the final stage where they could just keep falling off, and going right back where they started I thought was kinda silly. I'm not saying they need to be disqualified if it happens, but give them more of a punishment for falling off. Loosen the cable down a few feet slowly so they have to climb back up a bit.
Though I do like even if they do have multiple countries competing against each other, there was lots of support amongst each other and fist bumping which made me happy.

From reviewing footage from Episode 5 (where they used none of the Mother Tongue/Throat Erosion area obstacles), I get the strong feeling that no one failed those obstacles so they just retconned them out to avoid the episode from running long. Confusing and dumb, sure, but at least that's an explanation.
Personally I wish they would change up the obstacles a little more from episode to episode. It's a little tedious watching the same course over and over again. "We replaced the chain on Faceplant with a rope" doesn't count.
