I'm surprised that Jess failed the Double Helix. It looks like an easy obstacle... The LA course was brutal on the consecutive pump/grip obstacles and she was not given any time/rest advantages so she pumped out on it, but she did take second place making her first female to win $ on ANW

After this episode airs I feel like I will never hear the end of people complaining of never hearing the end of it.
Also congratulations to both Jessie and Josh. Jessie for her dramatic improvement from year to year. And for Josh for being the fastest and only finisher in the Los Angeles city finals and in his rookie season!

Re: the anonymous tip, I received validation from a second source (and I swear on my life these are different people). Josh Levin was the only finisher. Jessie Graff got to the Double Helix which was the 9th obstacle. Everyone else who got to the Wedge failed there. Oh damn, I wasn't expecting that. Really tells how hard it is to show the difficulty of the obstacles on TV.

Well the wedge is a killer. It was in Vegas too. It's just one of those absurdly technical obstacles. It would take far more sample runs to see how fair it is, but it seemed almost crapshoot-like in person.

Also, this is the third year in a row where an unknown (I'm calling Josh unknown even though in the climbing world he is well-known) rookie is either the only or one of two finishers in the California regionals. Kevin Bull in ANW6, Coolridge in ANW7, and now Levin in ANW8. Who will be the Darkhorse of the West in ANW9?!?

Just heard from someone who said they were there, saying that Jessie failed the Invisible Ladder instead.

You're saying people would.... lie!?!?!?!?! anyways safe to say that jessie fails in the last 3 obstacles I'd imagine, and I could see her failing the double helix.

Preview mostly featuring The Wedge. Apparently, their original design was deemed nearly impossible so they chose one with a 50% failure rate in testing.
...gonna stock up on Lacrosse balls.

Amazing how easy the invisible ladder looks when not totally exhausted. Wonder what their criteria for obstacle failure rate is in order for it to go on the show. 50% seems a bit low if it's at the back end of a finals course.

Remember these are guys only doing the salmon ladder into wedge, not the first part of the course.

Wow, that new escalator is going to be tough. As difficult as it should be.

I love how NBC keeps saying that Jessie graffs run got over 50 million views. When it hasn't even broke 1.

Unpopular opinion incoming: I think The Wedge is a perfectly fine obstacle, most of the fails look like they're coming from poor technique

Completely possible there is some Facebook video (with the associated grossly inflated view count) floating around of her.
