What is it with David and the 7th Obstacle??? Not sure but David is in a draught like he lost his Mojo He went down on the spinning balls and then the coin flip Then he had the warped wall issue and timed out he had a shoulder injury that year going into the finals Then of course last year the disaster of the silk slider that thing was horrid last year this year was better The Silk Slider should be scrapped and be replaced by Silk Road AKA Curtain Slider + Curtain Cling.

No arguments from me on that one; I still not a fan of the silk slider but at least it is not a disaster of a platform as last year.

Having Jumping Bars on Stage 1 just seems weird to me, although it's not as egregiously bad as ANW6 having a mini-tramp in Stage 3.

Keep in mind that they pretty much have to be done within two more episodes, since the week of the 21st is when all of the fall shows start. For some reason it feels like they're going to need at least one more week of that, since unless they cut absurd amounts of runs it's going to be tough to put a large chunk of the first stage, plus the rest of the way, into four hours of TV.

I believe they are cutting a fair amount. In the interlude scenes they did explicitly say that they got through half of the competitors and that next week would finish Stage 1. Considering 16 people finished in half of them, that's a lot of Stage 2 runs. They also said that on the 14th they will have All of Stage 2 & 3, and 4 if anyone gets that far. I wouldn't be surprised if they did a 3 hour Finale though. As for the Vs. the World and whatever that All Star thing was, they very possibly could be moved to weekend slots.

Here's how their broadcast will go. A few runners KACY SCREEN TIME (x 20) a few more runners KACY SCREEN TIME (x100) a few more runners KACY SCREEN TIME (x100000000000) and so on.

Why do you watch it or even FOLLOW it if you HATE it? I mean jfc, if you hate it clearly you make yourself miserable by doing anything but ignoring it. For your information, I don't follow OR watch it. I only come across the ANW boards to keep myself informed. I do try ignore it as much as I can otherwise.

So I was checking out Sasukepedia and noticed {Spoiler} that all 10 wildcards are women?
- Michelle Warnky - Tory Garcia - Asya Grechka - Marybeth Wang - Rose Wetzel - Kacy Catenzaro - Meagan Martin - Cassie Craig - Annie Dudek - Caitlin Shukwit
I don't have anything against female competitors, but I feel like this was more a PR move than a second chance for deserving competitors who didn't quite perform. Not saying the girls didn't perform, but I think there are some of the guys who quite honestly would have been better/more deserving wild cards. Fully agree! Whilst there are some women like Kacy that definately DO deserve wildcards, I'm sick and tired of NBC constantly hyping up random female competitors as if they're the best ever and actually have a chance in Vegas, when there are men who got further in City Finals and deserve Vegas slots more. Yeah.... Kacy beat a city final, Meagan is pretty damn impressive.... treat them like you would everyone else and stop giving them and others credit they frankly don't deserve Kacy and Meghan IMHO don't deserve wildcards considering they fell in the first half of the city final's course. It would have been one thing to see them get to the Salmon ladder + and then fail and say "Yeah, they deserve a nod," but both failed really early, so I'm not seeing it. The fact that Noah didn't get a nod as a wildcard when he still made it farther than those two is BS and I'm not even a particular WolfPack fan.

Pretty simple they need women for ratings and only one women qualified on here own that was Jessie Graff They need more than one women it is all about rating which equal $$$ from advertisement. If you noticed of the wild cards like 8 where women

Wildcards in general have been a hot topic on SMF (specifically) ever since NBC created the Vegas course a few years ago. NBC never announced how they come up with them so viewers who have invested all of those weeks watching the Regionals feel cheated when someone who failed but just is female ended up in the Finals as opposed to someone who did very well but just missed the cut in a tight field. Much a debate has happened just on that topic alone. Wildcards by it's very nature are people that NBC wants to put in but didn't qualify otherwise. Given how large the Regionals field is, it's literally impossible to put everyone in those 10 slots so they defer to people who will give ratings (especially after the Kacy viral phenomenon). Those opposed to giving wildcards to anyone other than one that qualified but was in the bubble won't ever be happy. I see things differently simply because Sasuke is filled with a huge number of wildcards.. Well over 70% of the field were chosen just on their application with very few actually resembling an "STQ" moniker. ANW isn't designed to have that many Wildcards so unless they up the amount of wildcards (which will whittle down the Regionals qualification) we have what we have. The whole show is one big casting process. NBC is going to do wtf they want if it means ratings and now they are milking the female viewer. Who knows who it will be in about 5-10 years. Heck we could get an all over 50+ crowd if that demographic gives them ratings. I'm sure the under 21 crowd would love to get in on that action but that's another thread entirely.

The wildcards really don't matter THAT much. Most of the people in Vegas legitmately qualified, and so wildcards are just... Meh. Using them as an argument against the show and NBC (amongst other small nitpicky things) just seems petty

The last 3-4 pages was railing against the wildcards and now you are going after me for saying that this has been a topic for the past 4 years and there's no suitable solution? Geez.. your hatred for me blinds you to everything else.

I think he was agreeing with you... Also if you want the people "on the bubble" then they would just make it top 16 or top 17 etc... So that is a dumb argument you don't make it then you don't make it try next year. Also how would you feel if you made it legitimately and the person that made a dumb mistake gets wild carded and you both finish and they beat you and you leave with nothing even though you were solid all the way through? (not saying that was your argument, just the general argument I keep hearing) Sorta using the Issac/Geoff arguments about Geoff hitting 6 buzzers and issac only hitting 5. So who is the real "winner" for the show it is simply time on the last course.

For anyone's convenience, I counted 36 competitors - 17 full runs, 3 already in progress, 16 fast-forwards - 15 had profile pieces (not counting Brian Arnold because his was shorter with just Iseman going over how he did in ANW5 and ANW6 USA vs The World) Wait, 36...does that mean 64 next week? Or are they just gonna skip some competitors entirely?

Whatever argument/agreement there was just went out the window when the name calling starts which is why I said what I said. As for the emotions surrounding those left out in the casting process for the wildcards I only mentioned that this comes up every year ever since NBC came up with it. Seems the criteria changes every year and there is no real solution unless NBC radically changes things. Given their history, not only do I think they won't change how they pick wildcards, I doubt any change to it will change opinions for everyone. Some care about the wildcards and some vehemently don't. Just on that alone it's impossible to please both ends of the spectrum.

It changes by what they think will help ratings (Aka Brent a couple years ago) that is all anyone has to understand. If you are a fan of the show you have to understand it is about $$$ with out the ratings we do not have a show. Ask any Sauske fan that lost the show when M8 went under.
