Heath ran after me and he was the second to last walk on (last one was his gf) after 5 am. Much respect. I was super tired and failed the silk slider, I felt I was dreaming the whole thing.

Jesse (forgot his last name) one of the best athletes of the walk on line (according to me) was ready to go right after along with two others but didn't get to run, and it was still nighttime. It was so wrong.

Not sure if I remember correctly but I think he retired from ANW to do parkour full time maybe??? Something like that. Well that's too bad, he was one of my favorite competitors. Then again Levi did the same thing pretty much. I still miss Levi

^ Can confirm.
He's on Facebook from time to time talking about pigs and fermented vegetables. I wish he'd come back one day though

He failed first obstacle in ANW4, so he never returned.

Just finished watching the episode. There are less ads on the Esquire website version, so it's a faster watch. Here are some of my notes:
1) I noticed some of the shots with Matt and Akbar are done in front of a green screen. It really takes away from the narrative that ANW is a sport when there are segments that are obviously shot after the fact.
2) I'm not a fan of the Hourglass Drop. I was afraid someone was going to hit their head on the support for the second board and the fact many were DQed instead of failing was a bummer.
3) Some of the bios were nice but when almost everyone has a story, it negates the specialness of most of the stories. Look, we all have had hardship, but I don't need to hear everyone's sob story.
4) This show had 10 commercial breaks. With only 19.5 full runs being shown that means this episode had less than 2 runs per segment. But that's only part of the reason why this show feels so slow this season.
5) I really wish they would go back to filming during the day. Everything about the night runs feel super serious and it doesn't make me excited to watch the show. Most obstacle course shows I've watched try to keep the mood upbeat and fun. As a result, the show feels faster paced, regardless if it actually is. They say time flies when you're having fun. I wish ANW would try to have fun again.
6) They should put cut runs on their YouTube channel. Could get them a little extra promotion and a little extra cash.
7) It was great to see Jessie Graff again and I'm glad she made the finals. In fact, most of the runners were actually pretty great and should be commended for their best efforts. Except for that goat lady. She annoyed me.

Huh... never really thought if it that way, but you have a point. Yeah, if people could skip the 2nd trampoline then it's waaayyy too bouncy.

Also they should end the submission process (application/video is nonsense imo) and just let all walk ons run, even if it's 200 of them. Just show up if you wish to try the course, sign a consent form in case something bad happens, and be willing to wait for your turn. Start filming from sunrise and end at sunset, and don't even edit to change the order of the runs, that's so unnecessary and nobody cares. Those who finish or qualify should then provide with more info, be interviewed, etc.

Oh and instead of having 6 regions there should be like 20 regions. America is a big country. Someone from Alaska shouldn't have to come to Venice to compete lol

It's probably a lot easier though to start a new competition altogether than change ANW.

I imagine setting up all the walk-ons would be a logistical nightmare. There's enough people running the course, I just want to see more runs.
Ninja Warrior UK got creative with montages and it sped up the pace exponentially.
Also, I really missed seeing more people fail early obstacles. Its fun and also demonstrates that even the "easy" obstacles can take people out.

Yeah but they won't show all 70% of those fails. They will show as many as they feel like they need to show. I also heard somewhere that they want the obstacles to be hard enough for about only 20% of the competitors to pass.

I decided to make another thread just for tonight's final the other Venice thread was getting a little crowded.

Better off just updating this one since this year, all the discussion has happened in their respective threads as opposed to making individual threads of all the airdates in the past.

Agreed. Might as well keep all the talk in one place.
As a reminder, tonight's broadcast will be significantly better than the ones in years past. All the "inspirational stories" have already failed the qualifiers. If they plan on killing two hours with only 30 people, they're basically forced to show the people that we most care about. Sure, the Kacy Count is going to go back through the roof but at least Kacy takes this show someone seriously.
EDIT: Dammit NBC...

So would Jessie's city finals run on YouTube get as much views as Kacy's or would she get ignored because she didn't complete it?
