Just watched about two minutes of Venice. This year's presentation is the worst I've ever seen. The editing. The bios. The commentary. Everything. So bad. Huh? I thought it was an improvement over last season. What's so bad about it that wasn't there last season?

Yuck... I didn't really like the episode but I liked the editing and new timer. It was decent at best.

I didn't watch last season, so I can't tell you. It's just the same complaints as always. Manufactured drama and trying to force us to care about somebody by shoving them in our faces. The commentary did seem especially bad this year, though, which is odd because I genuinely like Matt Iseman.

Honestly I think the editing is a huge improvement over last year with the exception of the kacy oversaturation.
Although based on an experience in Pittsburgh I do think our new interviewer feels a bit robotic with her interviews

I thought the episode was just fine. It went by quickly.
The fluff pieces were about 45 seconds and didn't seem boring to me; I don't mind hearing a little about someone's story or whatever is presented about them, especially if they don't fail the first obstacle. There weren't many post-run interviews and they were all very brief.
Progression was okay but expected, looking at how soon we reached the Hourglass Drop as a teaser to when we saw the first clear. The only drama I saw or remember was the guy in 30th hoping not to get knocked out in the second half of the second hour.
For the Kacy Hype/Hate Train, they spent less than 60 seconds with Kacy in the booth before starting Jessie's profile piece and run. Kacy provided some commentary which I felt neither added nor subtracted from anything.
What I liked was they only showed one person fail the first obstacle (as far as I remember and can find in my recording) and that was in a digest halfway through the second hour. If I wanted to watch people fail or hang around the steps, then I would watch the Ninja Warrior UK heats again or the previous six seasons of ANW.
Unless I miscounted, we saw 19 full runs, 1 partial run from Hourglass Drop to completion, 24 digest/ff, and the death of Kretsch's leg.

They also didn't show any walk ons, even the ones that made it to the city finals.

I don't like that Kacy fails episode 2 --> 2 episodes where you can milk Kacy viewers Kacy fails episode 5 --> 5 episodes where you can milk Kacy viewers If people are going to spoil results form other regions, than that is why we need separate episode discussion threads so people who don't want to be spoiled won't pull up this thread and get mad that they now know how Kacy did.

Only on walk on had a run digested and he didn't make finals.

I'll be taking up duties to list the semifinalists as well as my personal thoughts once again. First, the top 30: 1. Kevin Bull: Cleared, 56.4 seconds (!)
2. Alan Connealy: Cleared, 1:28.32
3. Nicholas Coolridge: Cleared, 1:29.49
4. Alvaro Campos: Cleared, 1:46.32
5. Travis Brewer: Cleared, 2:07.63 (Why you digests?!)
6. Grant McCartney: Cleared, 2:35.53
7. Almas Meirmanov: Cleared, 2:36.16 (why you digests?!)
8. Sam Goldstein: Failed Hourglass Drop, 19.68 seconds
9. David Campbell: Failed Hourglass Drop (!), 22.78 seconds
10. Michael Skiba: Failed Hourglass Drop, 29.3 seconds
11. Jason Tirado: Failed Hourglass Drop, 31.77 seconds
12. Dustin Rocho: Failed Hourglass Drop, 34.51 seconds
13. Johnnie Ho: Failed Hourglass Drop, 36.27 seconds
14. Michael Burkett-Crist: Failed Hourglass Drop, 37.08 seconds
15. Heath Burian: Failed Hourglass Drop, 37.22 seconds
16. Theo Agu: Failed Hourglass Drop, 37.45 seconds
17. Matthew Dodd: Failed Hourglass Drop, 41.06 seconds
18. Shane Hernandez: Failed Hourglass Drop, 46.07 seconds
19. Travis Weinand: Failed Hourglass Drop, 46.48 seconds
20. Azeo Torre: Failed Hourglass Drop, 48.21 seconds
21. Guy Catz: Failed Hourglass Drop, 51.33 seconds
22. Ben Melick: Failed Hourglass Drop, 55.05 seconds
23. Nir Halfon: Failed Hourglass Drop, 1:00.43
24. Rashad Richardson: Failed Hourglass Drop, 1:07.89
25. Jackson Meyer: Failed Hourglass Drop, 1:13.58
26. Paul Mangasarian: Failed Hourglass Drop, 1:13.68
27. Ryan Robinson: Failed Hourglass Drop, 1:17.72
28. Jessie Graff (YAY!): Failed Hourglass Drop, 1:19.22
29. Everest Ling: Failed Hourglass Drop, 1:20.28
30. Arnold Hernandez: Failed Hourglass Drop, 1:21.46
Shocking fails (besides the above David Campbell): Kyle Cochran, Rob Moravsky, Thaddeus Roebeck Also, other thoughts: The Spin Cycle was a bit of a bleh obstacle, even with the fails. Just not fun to watch, and reminded me too much of playground equipment. However, I really liked the Hourglass Drop. A hard obstacle that's still fun to watch? That is a plus in my book
Kristine Leahy is a bit too Stepford for me. Maybe she just needs time to warm up to the role, but she was just too robotic tonight.
I teared up at Jeff Clement's story. Curse you, manipulative editors!
Brian Kretsch's run and fall was painful to watch. Sorry, baronbk. Hope you get better.
The Kacy pimping is already getting out of hand, but that said, I really liked her as a guest commentator. Wouldn't mind having her replace Akbar.
Isn't James McGrath "The Beast", not Alan Connealy?
