Just out of interest, will this special air in any form in Japan ? Do you think NBC are setting up next year to eliminate the Japanese completely and have USA v Europe ? this way they break ties completely with Sasuke which would be terrible. No this won't air in Japan. They didn't last year and they wont' this year. Anything past that I don't know. I already asked. They renegotiate every single year. I doubt they will even approach the subject until around Sasuke 31 (which will tape first). TBS is not happy with the situation as NBC did not hold their end of the bargain, however not sure what that means in the future. We won't find out until 2015.

You have to admit though, that dub was awful idk why but I actually liked it... They intentionally dubbed with exaggerated accents, not jut for Japan but Stefano got a dub with a heavy Italian accent. I think those dubs were more racist than anything

Which option do you choose
Dubbing- more accurate,Don't get to hear the interesting voices.
Subtitling- not accurate, get to hear the interesting voices.

Subtitling, much easier to tell if they're making s*** up (which the dubs probably were), hear the actual voices and don't have the racist voice-overs.

If subtitling is all we have to hear their real voices, I'll take it.

In what way is dubbing more accurate? With subtitles you can actually compare what was said in the original language to the translation, whereas with a dub you just have to accept what they present you with, with no way of confirming the accuracy of the translation (which is probably exactly why they dubbed it this time around).

I'm one of the gullible ones that can't figure out the real, chronological order of the Stage 3 matches, even re-watching it a few times. Can you eagle-eyed long time fans list the order of the Stage 3 matches, as they really happened? I re-read this whole thread a few times and read the spoilers from back in June, so sorry for asking such an easy question.

XD To be fair it's easy to think that way and I don't try to get myself dragged into controversies over stuff like this. Trust me it's NOT an easy question. Glad you brought it up.

The only order flip that was blatant was the final. The rest was just them fudging the timer to show a result that didn't happen exactly the way they wanted you to see. That's the simple version.

Just finished watching this and here are my thoughts. An amazing performance from McColl, destroying stage 2 in his first attempt (that landing on the metal spin was crazy) and nearly doing the same with stage 3 on his first attempt, I have the feeling we'll be seeing more of him. Tim Shieff's run in stage 1 was FAST, I don't think that time will be beat for a while yet. The Americans for the most part did well, Travis Rosen's stage 2 run was probably the highlight for me. Was disappointing to see the Japanese on stage 1 and 2 but they made up for it with 2 epic clears in stage 3, besides I got the feeling some of those obstacles were too big for them and they suffered because of it. I was glad to see the Europeans win though, shut the Americans up and serves them right if they did doctor the stage 3 results so they could get there. All in all though I enjoyed the broadcast and hope they do something similar next year.

Could you please elaborate? Did Sean go first on the rope climb? Yes Sean was first. Both went up the tower without knowing who won. In fact both had celebrations at the top. LOL Everyone knew who won (on the ground) but it took NBC half an hour to figure out that Travis lost. They were too busy screaming at each other in the booth about how to make it look like USA won. Everyone else on the ground were just waiting for them to finally come out and say Europe won (again). Also explains why there was no actual celebration at the end with a trophy.

Btw started to put up the blogs. Part 1 is up. My favorite monitor is dying so it flickers a lot and randomly goes black. I'll see what I can accomplish (between desire and practicality) in the next week. I expect another 3 blogs (1 for each stage).

There are alot of different problems with this "Vs" tournament, firstly being the fact that it really goes against one of the things I love about Sasuke, it being non-competitive for the most part.
With that said, I'm really surprised at the Japanese team for having Shingo. I love him, but he certainly isn't the best Japan has to offer.
The other problem I have is alot of the Americans are full time dedicated to training for Ninja Warrior, while most of the Japanese competitors have day jobs.
All that said, my mind has opened up to such talent I never thought possible. I am really impressed with everyone's performance, especially the stage three performances.
