I don't like the idea of a time limit for the city rounds (hell, I'm not terribly keen on the idea of a time limit AT ALL). The thing is, people go TERRIBLY slow nowadays.

The Clocks: If they didn't fix it for ANW6, they need to have the official clocks at the finish lines, out in the open and visible to everyone, and have them synchronized to the buzzers and the gates, like SASUKE. (This might have prevented the brouhaha over Brent's ANW4 stage 2 run. It would have also prevented an ANW5 Andrew Lowes-type situation, where someone is tricked into believing that they've cleared because the gates opened up.)
The Qualifying Rounds: I would scrap the current format, and have each region be a full replica of an old SASUKE tournament. It should be one complete tournament per region in a single 3-hour episode. This would allow viewers to potentially see competitors compete again in the same episode. The only question would be if NBC or the producers would be willing to shell out the cash to do this; I doubt it.

I didn't have a clue the gates still opened for him yet he still timed out...

If I had the power to tailor the show to my liking I would mix things up quite a bit. This doesn't necessarily fit the traditional Sasuke format, so I wouldn't be too surprised if others weren't into it. Section 1 - 5 WeeksI would shorten the qualifiers by merging the city qualifiers and the city finals into one episode. Competitors in each region would take only one stab at qualifying, competing on what is currently the city finals course. Like the current format, the top 15 competitors (or more if there are more clears, but that doesn't really happen) would be guaranteed a spot in Las Vegas. Obviously the total number of competitors shown would need to be reduced in order to fit everything into one episode, but qualifying runs get a little redundant anyway. I think this could also help to eliminate flukey exits like Drew's and Idoko's since they would only need to face the course once. I think this one attempt only style better aligns with the spirit of Sasuke anyway. Section 2 - 2 Weeks(ish)This is the part that is totally different. Whether or not the training in the boot camp season was beneficial to the competitors is debatable. However, I think that time was great for getting to know the competitors. I still actively root for everyone involved in that season. By this point, everyone will be through to Vegas, so I think this is the time for character development. There are a lot of interesting people who try out, but I am just not willing to emotionally invest in someone who doesn't even qualify. So, for the next couple of weeks I wouldn't mind seeing the athletes get together at one of the ANW gyms and train together, allowing us to get to know them a bit. They could spend this time giving each other tips etc. as well as just showing off their freakish ability. They could also organize relay races and other competitions to keep things interesting. People making a name for themselves here could also have some highlights of their qualifying runs shown at this time. Section 3 - The Rest of the TimeLas Vegas! The only adjustment I think this needs is shorter time limits. Last season was just missing that extra excitement since no one really needed to hurry. After thinking about it awhile, this is the best I could come up with. TL;DR - Shorten qualifiers
- introduce a boot camp-esque portion, without additional elimination
- finish up with the finals with marginally shorter time limits on stage 1 and 2

I'm kind of with you on shortening the qualifiers, but OTOH somewhat iffy on that (I'd make it Top 20-make it an even 100).

Yeah the main issue is how when he hit the button right after time ran out, the gates opened up and the smoke shot off, now to make matters worse, they didn't tell him he timed out until his interview so he found out while on camera, that's the part that really bugged him, not as much timing out but how everything indicated a clear and how they didn't even tell him before his interview. I really wish I knew what he said to Jenn Brown in St Louis, everyone present was speculating he had some choice words for her lol

Get more celebrities running in the final like they have in SASUKE, It would be cool to see a guy like Si off Duck Dynasty or The Big Show and also to get a core of joke competitors who compete every tournament like Kuramochi and Aoki used to be, theres not many people I actually want to tune into see (- Drew, any SMF guys, David Campbell, Flip, whothehellisJamesMcgrath? and Brent) so if they get some more consistent competitors or celebrities in then I think it would be better and grant more ratings and then ANW would be like...

The bad news is that after reviewing your finish, it turns out that you hit the buzzer three-tenths of a second too late." Talk about sucker punching someone. That's why Jenn Brown will never get any respect from me.

Hence why I said, "how everything indicated a clear and they didn't even tell him until his interview", when I talked to him in St Louis he wasn't as much bothered about timing out as much as the way they handled things...

Oh god I would hate to hear that said to me, punch in the gut right there... Hey you finished! Hey you finished too late! >:3 Yeah I feel his pain. They need to change the clock function so no one ELSE has this problem as I stated before

Here are some things that need to change...
Editing:Its makes me really mad when they cut out all of the exciting and entertaining runs, the close calls and very entertaining runs.NBC needs to show these runs to get a wow factor and not just show people failing the third obstacle.
Famous people: Show some Famous people like Justin Bieber,Chuck Norris (at least 30+ ratings there),NBA players,WWE players,NFL players,TV personalities, news reporters and etc. That ways could bring the fan base more familiar with ANW.
Cross Promotion: I have wondered why the SASUKE world cup was not showed in America, they got first place but they didn't show it. The ANW fans should be in touch with other SASUKE events, like have some people from other SASUKE events test courses. Also if some ANW people run SASUKE and if SASUKE was taped before ANW then ANW should say like "Watch this guy run the course in Japan". Or something like that.
Judges:They should hire some retired basketball players because they deal with close calls.
That is all I have to say.

-Cutting promos down. 30 secs MAX. I like the promos, but they're sometimes too long. -Not digesting runs. I'd much rather watch Paui Kasemir run than 3x 3min Kacy Catanzaro promo packages per episode. -Make digested/FF'ed/cut runs available online, or in an extended repeat on G4 -Don't repeat the first half of the course for the city finals. (this could be done with convertible obstacles) -Allow over the cargo net. This is the change I don't understand the most. -Be more transparent about standings. In previous years we saw the leaderboard MUCH more. -Bring back the "hot seat" - yeah it was cheezy, but at least we had a visual on rankings
I think they could really make up time and add excitement by doing a 7 new(-ish) obstacles for the city final instead of doing the same 5 + 4 new.
Sorry for the long post. I love the show, but a lot can still be fixed.

It's probably not in NBC's rights package with SASUKE. To do that, they would probably have to pay substantially more and NBC would probably be forced to buy full rights to show SASUKE in the USA. I'd like that, but I also think I don't think the market is there to cover the costs of overdubbing SASUKE. Also, after watching SASUKE 30, it's clear that the American course isn't as hard by comparison. NBC is all about selling the fact the course is unimaginably hard, and if something else beats it, it takes the wind out of their sails.

I have ten things I'd like to change for ANW 7: 1. Put the city qualifiers and city finals into one event 2. Have 100 ppl go to Vegas instead of 85 3. Remove wild cards 4. Slice about 15 seconds off the stage 1 and 2 time limit. 5. Stop giving us all the competitor's life stories (except for major guys/girls) 6. Replace spider climb with pipe slider 7. Make the warped wall a foot taller 8. Change the rules in Usa vs Japan competitions 9. Have mini rewards for beating stages 10. Add the swap salmon ladder to stage 2

This may be a dumb question, but what's the difference between the Swap and Double Salmon Ldders.

This is the change I don't understand the most. -Be more transparent about standings. In previous years we saw the leaderboard MUCH more. I like these. What's the hot seat? They had 15 chairs (one was red). The first 15 runners were seated in order, and as other runners came off, they were slotted into the seating order based on their time, with the last place guy in the red "hot seat". That way we always knew who was on the cusp of elimination I suspect this was removed because it meant they couldn't really shuffle runs around for TV. Maintaining continuity must be much harder when you have to be accountable to shots of the contestants that already ran.
