Using Arabic numerals instead of Roman numerals means it's extra legit!
It's been such a long time, hasn't it? It might not even happen because the forum is completely different now than it was a couple years ago. But that doesn't mean we can't give it one more go!
Big Brother looks to return after a two-year hiatus to entertain you once more throughout the summer. In the real world, we have a house that we stick a bunch of people inside and have them under constant supervision for three months. On the Internet, we just have you play games until you grow completely tired of them; you feel about the same afterward though.
Basic gameplay is such: every round (because it's not necessarily a weekly thing for the forum version) there is a Head of Household competition, and a Power of Veto competition. The HoH comp everyone plays (with the exception of the winner of the previous HoH, starting Round 2) and the winner earns immunity for that round and also the privilege of nominating two people for Eviction. The PoV is a competition between the HoH, the nominees and two other people (either chosen by the nominees or random draw, TBD). The winner of the PoV has the ability to save one of the nominees (if the winner is not a nominee), forcing the HoH to replace their original choice. Yes, that means you can potentially go from being a non-factor in that part of the game to a nominee (since the PoV winner is safe regardless by virtue of winning). Part of the risk.
After all of that has been settled, the Eviction vote occurs. Each HouseGuest (excepting the HoH and nominees) will vote which nominee they wish to remove from the game. All votes must be cast before I reveal the results; failure to vote will mean your eviction, saving the nominees that round (yes, that does potentially render a round completely useless, but this eliminates the chances of the game being held up by a deciding vote that has not come in for an unexcused reason).
After a certain number of people have been evicted, all future evicted HouseGuests will be placed in the Jury, the group of people who decides the winner of the game, also by a vote. As much as this is a skill game, this is also a social game. A Jury may respect people who make power moves and attempt to control the game or they may be bitter than it's you and not them at the end of the game. That being said, strategize! Make alliances! Break them! Blindside if you have to! Converse in the thread as if you're actually in the Big Brother house! Use PMs when necessary! Maybe you're someone who plays loyal to the end. Maybe you try to hide behind others and coast it out. Or maybe you open Pandora's Box and watch carnage unfold...
Other important things of note:
- Every competition and vote typically lasts 48 hours from when I inform which part of the game is happening. I both post in the forum and PM. The forum post is the official clock as the PM is just a copy/paste job except when specific people need instructions.
- Extensions are very rare and will only be given during circumstances outside of one's control (personal situations that require your immediate and significant attention, power outages, that sort of thing). If an extension is granted during a HoH or PoV, everyone benefits from it and will be allowed to readjust scores. If one is granted during a vote, only those who have not voted will benefit from it.
- The Games: Mostly Flash games, with the occasional exception that can be practically done on a forum.
- Honor system: I pick games that I think would be fun to do competitively. A couple may have known "ways to beat." Maybe you're good at photoshop. Basically, don't give me a doctored score. Always play the game the way it was meant to be played. If it turns out a score was doctored/fabricated, it will be disregarded and you may be expelled from the game.
- Turning in scores: You must always PM me a screenshot of your score, I will never accept anything other than visual proof (hence the honor system). You can screenshot by using the "Print screen/prntscr" function on your keyboard and saving the picture to upload to a image site of your choice, so long as it's one where links aren't always broken. You can only turn in ONE score per game. Only turn in when either 1. you can't get a higher score after you've tried a significant amount of times or 2. you really believe no one can beat a score you've gotten. If you turn in and you end up besting your score, tough breaks. You have 48 hours. Signing up assumes you have the time to play these games, much less participate in other means.
The game is only as fun and exciting as you make it. Let's make it a good one. Minimum needed to start the game is 10, although for the full experience, 12-16 is optimal. Experience in a game done in a manner such as this is not needed, new and old sign-ups are encouraged. All I ask for is a proper commitment to the game.
