with no doubt Shiratori's fall on the Balance Tank was huge...the good thing is that I watched it in ralenty and he didn't hit his head but his shoulders. Scary anyway! Yamada on tha balance tank too impressed me. Thinking about nuts-hits I remember I saw a guy on the pole maze getting reeeeally hurt! Well, jump hang wipeouts were huge, too.

Death by stupidity is definitely epic fail in my book.. I feel so bad for him because he technically did it TWICE!!!

Or perhaps three if you count what he did with the Jump Hang in 16.......God, I still shake my head when I watch that.
I don't think I saw really any truly painful wipeouts in 22 other than Shingo's humiliation. Well okay, Lee Enchi had a pretty hard fall from the Cliff Hanger, but that might be it.

LOL You are right.. in fact Shingo shook his head going "you know.. only I WOULD do something as stupid as that".. (obviously paraphrasing).

He said "so typical of me to do such a thing." I wonder if he was foreshadowing his later failures?....
Oh, I had forgotten about another spectacular Jump Hang wipeout, this one back in SASUKE 9 - the stuntman (I think) Hideo Kikuike had a SPECTACULAR backflip from the Jump Hang. Ouch!

LOL So did Nagano.. he was so utterly disgusted he couldn't even do the interview afterwards

Nagano's came in 10. And Takeda wiped out the very same way just 2 competitors before him.
Yamada failing the Jump Hang in 14 was kinda similar too (well, without the backflip) - he just looked irritated and simply walked away when he failed. And I don't think I've ever seen Shingo look that upset when he watched Yamada fail that day, but upset he was.

I guess it is sadistic of me to laugh with some of the more spectacular fails because it's just as fun to laugh with everyone else watching. Half the time I think I like the TBS broadcast more because it does show their eville friends cackling in the background (i.e. Sasuke 22 with Takeda being utterly ridiculed by Shingo after HE was ridiculed by Takeda). Shingo makes it funny because he's cackling at how utterly ridiculous it seems when he fails. Getting to the top of the rope ladder only to fall backwards.. Diving under the wall lift only to get his foot caught.. tripping over his big feet.. more than once.. it's all clumsy stuff and I like how he keeps his sense of humor through the whole thing.

If he would've fallen from the Rope Ladder itself in 18, that would've been even funnier to him. To me, I would really have been like "WTF man!?!" That Flying Chute just hasn't been good to him at all - good thing they took it out in the end (for his sake I mean). But then, the Flying Chute has had some of the most brutal wipeouts, especially Iketani in 21. Full flip over the rope = pain.
Nagano's first stage failure in 19 shocked me more than his first stage failure in 22 did, but it doesn't mean I wasn't shocked that no All-Stars made it in 22 again. 19 though, just took me by surprise, especially with Nagano's wipeout (which looked pretty bad and painful too).

Okitani in 19. That one just reeked of failure. And it was probably the funniest too.
And though not technically a wipeout, David had a really close call with the Slider Jump in 22 as we recall - his leg getting tangled in the net saved him from what would have been a nasty fall into the water. But that catch did look painful too.

David's and Komiya's close calls (she almost fell on the trampoline) were cringe worthy without having to actually fall in the water.

One of the more painful ones for me was Yoshizaki in Sasuke 2. He basically face-planted on the landing pad at the end of Stage 3.

And not only that, he nearly lost his shirt from that fall. Painful indeed.

I'm inclined to say he did that on purpose (although maybe not). Still hilarious.

I think he may have, too.
Of course, that happened in 15, which is when we also saw Harashima get clotheslined by the Hurdle Jump (still painful every time I watch that).
