www.tbs.co.jp/sasuke_rising/TBS will hold a SASUKE 30 preview event on June 27th (Friday) at Tokyo Media City (it's a studio in Tokyo). Selection will be done by lottery. It will only be for the 1st and 2nd Stages. The viewing is free but you have to apply via the form on the SASUKE RISING page by 11:59 June 15th, also any travel and accommodation costs will be borne by you. You cannot apply via proxy or "gift" your seat to another person.

Sounds like an interesting promotional! I hope everyone who is selected enjoys the preview! By the way, is it implied that all of Stages 1 and 2 will be shown, or only particular competitors? Also, the online translator didn't help much in this respect, but is anything in there mentioned about the number of individuals selected and/or an NDA? The latter should be obvious to hardcore fans, but I would think there would be some explicit mention that everything is to remain secret until the TBS airing since not everyone who enters may be aware of these conditions. Lastly, what is that last line referring to with a DVD? Are the winners each given a copy of the clips they are to be shown?

That's cool actually. So the day before Navi there's a "premiere" fan party. I like that a lot. Sucks I can't go.. even if I won the lottery.

The last part is a statement (I think) saying that they will be recording the people at the studio and that TBS can use that footage for TV/DVD releases. I think anyway.

According to Inui, the cut shown in the preview may be different from what will be shown on TV.

Not necessarily. It's just something they have to say just in case.

Not necessarily. It's just something they have to say just in case. What do you mean by that? Legal speak for saying that they're going to be recording and you may or may not be shown on TV/DVD. It's better to over-state something with false claims that may never happen rather than come up short and get in legal trouble for something they didn't mention at all. Just because "DVD" was mentioned doesn't mean TBS has any plans for a DVD release. Even before when Monster9 owned the rights to Sasuke, TBS owned the redistribution rights (including TV broadcasting and DVD sales) of previously aired competitions; and nothing's come of it.

I do know they are trying to market Rising. With M9's insistence of never having things signed (like waivers and whatnot) TBS is in a difficult position to release "home" copies of the original 27 tournaments. Rising was trying to be different so they can attempt to start to market just Rising for home market. This way by signing on the dotted line, if they DO manage to get a home release (which up to this point is still in the planning stages) they aren't screwed by not being able to show this footage as behind the scenes/extras on a home release because they didn't think ahead. Now they can say "well you knew you were being recorded" if someone says they were not compensated or their image is taken for promotional purposes. In contrast, NBC has you signing a book that already has every conceivable outcome that includes your image that they can use for profit or even promotional purposes. TBS is just 17 late in getting in the game. I'm actually encouraged that they now are putting that in their language. I hope it's a sign that they are moving in the direction of home release (even if distant future) of at least 30+ (hopefully 28+). /crossing fingers.

I really hope there will be some kind of home release of the shows in future. Maybe they can release a "compilation/best-of" the tournaments, showing high lights of All-Stars, New Stars, and other memorable competitors or something.

There's also the fact that TBS in particular but Japanese TV stations in general don't make DVDs of their variety shows. Dramas always get DVD releases. Even Fuji, which has put out the Run for Money shows all out on DVD is only now putting out DVDs of Mecha Ike, a comedy variety show that has been on the air since 1996 (a year older than SASUKE and also, I might add more popular) and those are only of certain episodes.

Btw the deadline for this is Sunday. Has there been wording to figure out how many people are on the list to watch this? I can't seem to find it.
