No kidding. I was hoping I wouldn't have that obstacle again after last year on the course. It always throws me off at the end. Too many G forces.

Quick question. I was about to do another thread for the upcoming week and I was reminded it's being preempted for the 16th. So it's Miami on the 23rd? Can someone please confirm that? When I get confirmation I'll post a thread for it.

Sweet. Thanks! I'll be adding the Monday June 23, 2014 thread as Miami shortly as the next discussion thread (before I forget..).

I just caught a glimpse of someone with black face paint. I thought it might be you but I wasn't sure. No trench coat though. That was Joey Zavala who ran in Dallas. They flashed him up on the screen a bit right before Jamie Rahn's run when they were talking about costumed/painted competitors.

.... but this was a lot better than the Andrew Karsen Andrew Lowes debacle from last year.
Also as for why Mike B did that approach. I can not put words in his mouth but.... That approach was how the testers showed the contestants it was to be done. Like others have said many of the early runners did this (I did not see this was not at course at that point I had a late call time) But the testers made it look very safe and easy to just hop on in the middle like Mike did then just tilt it a bit and run it like the blades were set up ANW 4 style in Dallas.
From my stand point I thought this was a good approach if I had the ability to try it a couple of times like the testers. As a runner you have to take everything the testers do with a grain of salt because they have had many many tries at it as well as no pressure to not fall as if their life depended on it. So many people tried it, unfortunately with not a good amount of success, then others went back to ANW 2 & 3 style of the run and jump.

While Mike's was more a traction issue many of the fails I saw using that technique actually could have been clears, I saw most people just turning it the same direction and the blades keep picking up a bit of speed and it becomes too much by the third blade, I feel it could have helped if people tried to alternate which direction they turned it with each attempt (or at least two blades go one way and go the other on the last two), it would take more time but in regionals all that matters is hitting that button.
Personally I feel I should have did the go sideways thing Mike Needham did, maybe I wouldn't have pulled it off THAT fluidly but I definitely should have gone over the middle and onto the other blade.
