I understood the gist of it. Shingo was good at running and jumping when he was in middle school, and he wanted to do track and field. His middle school didn't have a track and field team, though, so he played basketball. He participated in a district-wide track and field event, and won. He came in third in a city-wide event. He got an offer from a private high school after that. In high school, he did track and field. When he graduated, he considered training for the Olympics, but eventually decided against it. Instead, he went to a vocational school and became a mechanic. He started working at the gas station. When he was 23, he got a call from TBS (I'm not sure exactly how they found out about him. I think he was still doing track and field at the time, so maybe that's why they knew about him). They invited him to Sasuke. He thought it was a prank call and hung up. They called him right back. He realized they were serious. And the rest is history. Ube might be able to give a more accurate translation, but that's what I understood from the Google translation. wow I had no clue he wanted to be an Olympian too! Oh Yamamoto-san! I used to run myself but that was all. Anyways prank call Yamamoto... I can seriously imagine that! XD

FInally got a chance to read Yuuji's interview translated. So many new stars/ all stars wanted to be olympians... I believe Nagano, Shingo, Akiyama, and MAYBE Shiratori wanted to at one point. Also Nagasaki! Me read now!

More TBS Facebook pics today ( 4 in total): My favorite for Oooooooobvious reasons Edit: Btw there's also been an update on the TBS website with the Nico Nico information. Edit (again): New "Another life" article: This time it's Kenji Takahashi! P.S. There is a new TBS video out but I put that in the "commercials" thread. Since it involves MASSIVE spoilers it's best that the conversation stays in there.

Is it weird that Ishimaru holding an umbrella reminds me a bit of Mary Poppins?

It involves the data button that all Japanese digital TVs have. www.tbs.co.jp/tbsdata/You need to clear the stage to get an ID (password) that you later mail to TBS. Then you MIGHT get a towel or shirt. The only signed shirts are for people who complete the Final Stage. Edited to add: People can only play the game during the broadcast but can submit their clear IDs until Friday. Not sure how many times you can play. If it's not clear, this is only for viewers in Japan.

I remember you doing a screenshot of what an HD Japanese program shows (where that one year it had an updated clear chart that was friggin' neat!) so it will work similar to that? And, are you entering?

I'll try to play but I'm pretty sure I'll be busy most of the broadcast. I'll probably do bits and pieces during the commercials.

I need to ask... In S 29 there was a rule that only one competitor from 3rd stage could go to he Final stage (the one with better time score) Is that rule still up for Sasuke 30?

Thankfully that rule was only in place for Sasuke 29 simply because it was a qualifier for the Sasuke ASEAN Open Cup (which took place in February). That will not be used again in 30 .. or ever again. It's back to the format we are all used to.
