I sent an e-mail to a Sasuke staff member asking how to apply for the next competition, just so I'd know I was applying correctly. I got this response:
I wrote back:
And they responded:
So, god damn it. G4 got their wish.
I don't know if this bothers anyone else, but I didn't feel like entering a popularity contest to get on Sasuke. They did well by picking David and hopefully it'll be a new trend (you know, picking talent instead of flashy stunts and other useless stuff), but in my gut, I honestly doubt it.

Well, so much for about 30% of the people on this fourm who are under G4's age limit.

Yeah, they're screwed too.
I just don't see why G4 should get to decide all the American spots. They should have two at most. However many more TBS decides to let us have should be filled by TBS. :/

I do remember a topic very similar to this on the G4 board about a year ago (before Sasuke 20). In it, the guy contacted TBS and said he wanted to know how to apply. TBS responded by saying any Americans have to go through G4. Yet, in Sasuke 20 and 21, people like Michael Milner and Brian Philip Harlow were allowed to compete. So something doesn't add up here. Let me see if I can find that thread...

Remember, someone else has taken over Sasuke now. It may be a policy set in place by them.

Yeah, it does seem pretty...off. Well, i think the annoucer says that hes with Ninja Warrior (Mike), but BPH, were not sure. Idea, buy like a 10sqcm piece of land, so ur technicly a canadian resident. But honestly, this is a bit messed up. If u applied to TBS, apply to monster9? or vice versa? IT cant hurt, can it? Maybe that doucher Aaron beat u to Japan. Eitherway, u mgiht wanna try 2 contact MM or BPH about ur problem man, see if they can help ya.

We had a discussion over Oti's chances on getting on directly through TBS on the G4 boards. Myself and Rider mentioned he didn't have a good chance and I pointed out the Michael Milner had gotten that exact same message. Yes, he did get on. But as Arsenette pointed out, that was only after they had to move the taping date due to Nagano's stay in the hospital and a few people had to drop out. So to fill the spots, they called him up.

I think it would help if you were already in Japan and tried to sign up then, but you'd need to know how before you traveled. Sure it's more risky definitely, but once you're in the land of the rising sun it ain't got anything to do with G4 anymore.
"Hello, TBS? Yeah, I'm applying directly to Sasuke.. mhm... aha.. yeah and I'm American. G4? American entries? in charge? I have not heard of this G4 before, I need not America's influence, I'm in Tokyo right now, couldn't I just be connected directly? mhm... that's right.. what?.... exactly! Sign me up, I'll send you my entry video showing how much I deserve this spot."
What everyone here knows is that entering through G4 is pointless because you have to face thousands of other people, among them are insane free runners and weight lifters that would likely own what ever I had to offer in my video.

Maybe I'll just go for the ANC.
The thing I hate about that is that I have to be a billboard for them. I have to wear their damn logo on my shirt and even travel around Japan with them everywhere they go.
I wanted to do things my way. >.>

If you notice, the Japanese broadcast doesn't make a big case out of G4. It's mostly "Oh, by the way, these guys (or in Luci's case, girl) won a contest held by this network." It isn't so much that they are the G4 contingent so much that TBS treats them as a unified group who all won a contest to compete. Yes you have to wear a t-shirt, but consider each side of the coin. Is wearing a t-shirt with G4's logo really such a bad thing when you get the chance to take a run at the First Stage? Best I can remember, none of the ANC people have ever said on air "Thank you G4" or even acknowledged the network.

Even being in Japan at the right time doesn't mean you'd be selected. You'd just be a part of a different pool. You might stand out. You might not. You'd have to have a hook (admittedly, being a gaijin can be considered a hook) but you'd still be competing against people who have been trying to get on the show for years.
We don't know if any foreigners in Japan were chosen for this year's Trial but we know that last time one was admitted into the Trials and one was selected straight for the show: Brian Philip Harlow and according to the title over his name, he was an Eikaiwa teacher at the time, meaning he was in Japan teaching English.

This is a time where it sucks to live in America b/c we have to go to G4 for everything...SCREW G4, they have butchered Sasuke into Ninja Warrior, and once you have seen both, Sasuke is 100000000X better than Ninja Warrior. In this ANC Challenge, it's a popularity contest and u have to be freaking 21(that sucks b/c we see teens in Sasuke), and its not about some one's potential, mainly its just a bunch of free-runners gettin a bunch of people to say o cool, thats what makes David unique, he has actually shown us he can do obstacles on that course, and even though he was chosen by olivia, its still better than some one like Mark from Sasuke 21. Honestly Oti, i know TBS recieves thosands of requests to enter or try out for Sasuke, but you're getting a raw deal b/c i doubt TBS even knows how G4 handles the situation when they pick people for ANC, they just know they need to make spots for 3 or 4 americans.

It was 18 where he got the disqualification on the Jumping Spider and failed the Great Wall the first time, I forget where he failed the second time. 19 was a false rumor, he only had one run and never made it to the Halfpipe Attack anyways.
