Ian, you're doing God's work son Classifying Domino Hill as easy gives me a little relief. However, Handlebar Swing being Very Hard is scaring me fierce.

Did any of the testers clear the handlebar swing?

Course is evil..... Obstacle 4 gonna tire u out for obstacles 5 (which may be the toughest obstacle) and later. 3 may seem easy but if you rush them, I'm sure you can fail. Salmon ladder + rope maze = clever. I like it if it eliminates someone. Cliffhanger seems fair. People may have to take a long break before attempting it. The spider climb final is also awesome. I wonder if there will be something to grab to get on the final platform. Could be interesting if someone misses..... if you understand what I'm saying.

So I guess the comments about Chain See-Saw and Giant swing were right... I'ts both combined!
Also liking the Spider Climb replacing the Cargo Net, a rope net that high was always awkward. Also can't wait to see tester vids (although can't do that from my ipod even if they were posted really lol)

Feel free to share, download, or blog about them. You don't have to give credit, but if you do, my name is Ian Garcia. Ian I just posted a link to your album on the ANW Comrades Facebook group, let me know if you're OK with that

nehcney That is fine with me! @everyone When I say the testers had a hard time with the Handlebar Swing, I mean that it was only obstacle all of the testers were having difficulty with. They managed to pass it eventually and I have footage of them failing as well as passing it. It is a daunting obstacle because no one has really practiced for it, kinda like when the Salmon ladder was introduced. Once they got the hang of it, they were beating it easily. The testers only had trouble grabbing the handles from the initial jump as well as grabbing the second set of handles for the transfer. They were able to hold on just fine. The dominos are secured mechanically. While the testers were running it, they adjusted the first dominos to make them tighter by using some cranking tool. They aren't just loosely fitted together. That being said, Robby has a point. The testers had an easy time with the first two levels of dominos, it wasn't until the highest level that they almost slipped up.

Also it looks like they have domino hill setup so they can easily remove layers between the dominoes making it harder. They changed up the bungie bridge on us in Miami last year right before we started.

By the way, the spider slider looks way too narrow for you to be able to apply outward pressure using your arms. It's probably intended to be held from the outside with a pulling motion. Very interesting, that's a very good point. Being tall and with long arms, if I can grab the outsides that might be the right technique. I SOOOO wish I could be there to watch the next couple of days! Please continue with your intel, you are loved!

Wait, does this mean you are jumping and grabbing the hanging handles and not the horizontal bar? Sorry if I am slow on the uptake here.

I think you have to swing hard enough to make it to the other swing and grab on. Like a monkey bar but it swings lol
If this is the case then im scared someone will get really hurt since it isnt rope but steel

This obstacle is kind of like the Chain See-Saw from Sasuke 27 but instead of the pulley system it's a rig similar to the Giant Swing

I think the bars are just for stability.

How is the rope maze completed? It looks like bent steel. Do you have to manuever a ring in each hand on each steel maze track?

I wonder if people will try to reach for the second Handlebar Swing instead of jumping.
EDIT: ninjacop, the Rope Maze was an obstacle on VIKING. Think Pole Maze but with a rope. They have to swing the rope around the barricades.

How is the rope maze completed? It looks like bent steel. Do you have to manuever a ring in each hand on each steel maze track? The competitor would have to navigate a rope through a small track over the top. The rope was anchored at the end of the track, so the rope would get longer as the obstacle progressed, forcing the competitor to climb the rope. No one was able to pass it inVIKING 1 (much as the Salmon Ladder endedSASUKE 19), however it was cleared four times in the next tournament.

It's exactly what it sounds like, a rope maze, you have to move the rope through the track (much like the Pole Maze, only the Rope Maze technically was first). This video has the answer
