Yes! That guy is one of my picks right now for conquering the course!

Ryoga posted a photo to the Facebook group of his papers and walk on number last night. I assumed that meant he would run, but I never saw any follow-up posts. I've been kicked out / removed from the group. That pisses me off more than not running. It's immature and down right cowardly to whoever did it not to voice there gievances with me either in private or at the very leaste invite me to and open discussion to learn the facts. (Angry Ryoga)

I'm watching the beach cam and everyone I've seen has spent a lot of time contemplating infrot of the salmon ladder. There's a time limit, right?

I know the regions are a little different now, but I think Levi ran in Venice Beach last year. Was he there today/ does anyone know if he is planning to compete in another region?

No time limit. Just if you're the slowest, you better make it further than at least 15 people.

Does anyone know how many were supposed to be going to Vegas this year? I don't know if they ever mentioned numbers.

Does anyone know how many were supposed to be going to Vegas this year? I don't know if they ever mentioned numbers. As many as who make it and as few who don't. If 150 clear. 150 go to Vegas. If only 50 clear. Then they might fill the rest with wildcards.

Everyone would be wildcards and the qualifiers would be meaningless.

So is it like the 10 who cleared and then the other 20 who ran the fastest. Then in the region finals there is no time limit and whoever finishes goes to Vegas.!?

For ANW4 it was the fastest 30 clears in the preliminaries moved onto the semifinals. During the semifinals, the fastest 15 clears went to Vegas. There's never an actual time limit, but it goes based on time if there are too many or not enough clears.
- If exactly 30 people clear the preliminaries, then those 30 people move on. - If more than 30 clear, then only the fastest 30 move on. - If fewer than 30 clear, then those who clear move on automatically, along with the people who made it the farthest (but still failed) the fastest.
For the Northeast region last year, hardly anybody cleared the semifinals. That meant that even if you took 45 minutes to run the course, if you made it through you were automatically going to Vegas. It sounds like that's the case in Venice this year. I've heard from a few people that hardly anybody cleared, so even people who took a really, really long time still got to advance to the semifinals.
The way I look at it Philip, the qualifiers are already mostly meaningless. The best people don't always get through, which is the point of qualifiers like this. Several failed competitors last year (from prelims and semis, I mean) went to Vegas as testers and absolutely demolished the course. Then the 90 "best" from the qualifiers (along with 10 wildcards) took their turns and most of them failed the first stage, citing NBC's shoddy construction and planning as the reason they failed. Not surprised, not complaining. I just think it's an interesting thing to note.

Confusing rules. It sounds like 30 advanced to the city/regional finals. It also sounds like if you completed the course in either the opening round or the city finals round you advanced. From what I heard only 15 people or so completed the opening round, yet 30 advanced reportedly to the city finals round. I would guess they have a minimum number of who they are sending to Vegas, but no maximum in case more than the minimum number complete the course.

UPDATE! At least 15 people made semis and you did not have to complete the course to make it to Vegas. A woman made semi finals. (I'm excited for this and everyone else should be too) Derek and many others skipped dominos on domino hill. In semis the nunchuck handles were switched to horizontal bars which made it MUCH easier.
