Yeah that's what I meant, using the frame of the trampoline up at the end of it instead of the bouncing part right in the middle. That's legal in Sasuke as well. It's the rigging that they don't want you on. For example that time that Rie failed it where she bounced back and landed on the base holding the trampoline up. The frame itself you can launch off (won't give you much lift but if you make it more power to you LOL) if you happen to mistime and miss the center and the bungies.

We're talking about ANW though, which isn't always consistent on the rules.

I'm kind of glad the trampolines are so random. Keeps people on their toes. Like I said, it gives you an idea of who can adapt on the fly and who can't.

That may be true Oti, but if you get a bad jump due to the trampoline, there's not much to adapt. If you got a s*** jump then sometimes you're screwed. Of course you can always test the tramps out, but it takes time.

wtf are you people talking about? Apparently a controversy with the trampolines. Started a couple pages back iirc. I don't know.. I wasn't there

It's never the trampoline's fault you can't get a good jump. Other people were clearing those obstacles. They're not impossible. They don't not offer the bounce you need. It's your job to get that bounce and if you fail to do that, it's your mistake. It's the competitor, not the course. I feel like I'm the only one not whining about the trampolines, and I went out on a trampoline obstacle myself. Watching the video of my run, I can see what went wrong, and it's certainly not the trampoline's fault. We all just need to man up, take the blame and accept that the course isn't always going to be pretty and perfectly laid out for us. Where's the fun in that anyway?

I'm with you on this Oti. Having a practice tramp was a luxury I wasn't expecting to have. I was more concerned about the potential wetness of the 2nd tramp(from splash fails). Definitely a challenge, but that's the point isn't it? Mental toughness, adaptation, etc.

I dont know why One-stepping and jumping off trampolines' non-bouncy parts is relevant. I figured maybe I didnt get the joke...

Because we were talking about how many people failed the trampoline and I said it randomly to wonder if I should use it as a strategy for ANW6 or whatever

So I just didnt get the joke haha There wasn't a joke.. oh well you didn't read far enough then. One person complained something was up with the trampolines. Others said no that's just how it is.. others were bringing up examples of how ANW judges were inconsistent with their calls on legal and illegal jumping off trampoline. That's about it from what I got out of the posts. General consensus.. trampolines are unpredictable and it's up to the better thinking athlete to adjust on the fly.. just like everyone has to do in Sasuke.

LOL yeah just look at Setoda saving himself from a bad jump by doing a handstand, now nobody has an excuse ;D

Yeah that's what I meant, using the frame of the trampoline up at the end of it instead of the bouncing part right in the middle. Using the frame was completely legal in Miami, I know a few people thought about it, but opted out because they didn't know if the trampolines were bolted down, and didn't want to risk a hilarious wipe out if they were not. @bada: I hear you haha, in the future I will not be messing with the practice trampolines for more than a jump or two, lesson learned

Btw just thought I'd throw this out there--for the NE, there were 112 non-walk-on competitors. Number 112 was Sean Kozhuharov and he was proud to have the "Nagano position".

Though I hadn't failed any of the tramp jumps in previous years' competitions, you can throw my name into the "Spent Entirely Too Much Time Practicing On the Sideline Tramp Between Prelims and Finals" crowd! After my near death experience with that bar jump in prelims, I was TERRIFIED, and spent every free minute during Southeast's prelims bugging the hell out of every gymnast I could find for technique tips (sorry Dan G, Travis R, Brett!) That jump was an MF'er... farthest and highest I've seen yet.

Yeah when I heard about the slaughter in semis why do you think I stated asking about legality of jumping from the rim and not chancing it on the trampoline part

You would have needed to either be really tall, have MONDO hops, or both to get that bar without bouncing. You had to hit it just right or you'd fall short WITH a bounce (like nearly half of us did the second time around!
