That's what I was trying to get at. Yes, both have accidents, but if they can be prevented or lessened, then they should be. Padding the ends of the bars would greatly decrease the likelihood of the bars cutting open someone's face like what happened to Jake, and padding a little bit more after obstacles likely to cause a faceplant would prevent what happened to that guy in ANW on the Bridge of Blades.
There is a difference between the risks of an obstacle course like Sasuke, and risks from careless design.

Well, after what happened. I'm sure next year they'll pad them or make the obstacle safer. Or just take it out entirely.

I interpreted it as the bar itself hit him in the face. I don't really see how he'd get into a situation where the end of the bar would hit him. It doesn't sound like it was "cut" open, but it was hit hard enough to burst open.

But you are probably right, in which case this was just a bad accident.

Honestly, I'm shocked there hasn't been a worse accident on Sasuke.
It still amazes me how everyone escaped those Rolling Log derailments. It looked like it directly hit at least a couple of those competitors.
Also, remember Nagano's second stage run in 18. After dismounting the Stick Slider it looked like the falling bar almost hit him.

How do we know Jake didn't try to skip a rung and that's why he failed? You can't blame design for people taking risks. People running on 1 side of the bridge of blades = risk as well....

If it was set up as an x, then yeah, that's a risk. If it was turned so that you couldn't cross it any other way THEN that's careless design.

People went through the middle when it was set up as a T. (Ibrahim Peek and the gymnast girl who failed the jumping bars. Another person on youtube as well. No I'm not looking up for a video to prove my point.) It costs you 1-2 seconds tops...... it's a risk for a reward of 2 seconds.

Actually if it's set up like an X and you go down the side then it's definitely a risk, the head cut happened for the one competitor who got it set up right, if he had done it correctly he wouldn't have had that happen

Lemme see.. Sasuke injuries vs ANW injuries.
Sasuke: someone in traction (black mayonnaise), 2 broken shoulders (Takeda and Shingo), head split open (various.. lost track honestly.. shown on TV? Only Octopus iirc).
ANW: a couple of bloody faces..
Yep.. Sasuke wins.. by a long shot. Remember TBS edits a lot of the show to remove the injuries. 18 was a bloodbath with at least 10 injuries and 3 hospital trips with one extended stay).

According to the Ninja Warrior facebook page:
New ANW episodes will start airing in July, not August as previously reported.

Nah it doesn't mean anything other than that's when the schedule is free for G4. The only thing they are guaranteeing is the Sasuke episodes spoiling the main broadcast again for the rest of us.

Meh, not really, because as always, Sasuke 27 will be RETCONNED when it finally airs on G4.

Meh, not really, because as always, Sasuke 27 will be RETCONNED when it finally airs on G4. It's going to be on NBC this year.. but what I meant is that G4 has a tendency to spoil their own broadcast so there's no way they can resist saying SOMETHING about it.. in fact I think they will do "only on NBC (insert like 10 minutes of spoilered images)

Depending on the success of the Americans, I will not be surprised if G4 retcons the earlier tournaments. For example: Say one of the ANW10 defeats the UCH, I will not be surprised if they say "No other American has reached this far into a 3rd Stage before" completely ignoring TAS and Kane. Now if they specify something like "1st time someone from ANW/ANC" or referencing the specific tournaments with the UCH I'll be fine.

Just saying the obstacles leading up to this 3rd stage are more difficult than when Kane and TAS were competing....
